Both countries have an amazing army. Both are technologically advanced. American army is mainly based on airforce and russian's one on ground units. Russia has more nukes than the USA and they're even stronger. Think that a single TSAR bomb of 100 kt could take over Estonia :D (never tested before). USA is 8 times richer than Russia and has twice the population of Russia. These give a lot of advantages for USA.

Just saying.... there is NO FUCKIGN WAY Russia could take control over the entire northeast USA. I fail to believe that they could capture Washington state as well. The militia in this country is ridiculous.
As long as common Americans have access to guns and Russians do not, Russia has NO CHANCES in conventional war.

I don't see nukes as being an ideal attack strategy. More a last minute Predator type deal where you know you've lost so you take them all with you.

This assumes that the UK and America's other friends and allies are just going to stand around doing nothing. That wouldn't happen. Russia would be crazy to try this IRL.
44 million Americans own guns. A lot more won't admit that they have one. Throw out 90% of them being unwilling to battle still leaves you with 4 million people. There's a gun behind every blade of grass......
Kind of unlikely that Russia would use nuclear weapons pre-emptively. The Soviet rocket forces put emphasis on retaliation in regards to nuclear weapons.
