    You can't roll the tanks across the Zagros mountains. You can't carpet bomb underground facilities. You can't subjugate 80 million people if you have dwindling moral and Willing to suffer lose for a prolonged time frame. An offensive into Iran, up the Iranian plateau would face much more difficulty and grind for victory than one might imagine.

  • @Kirinketsu_

    @Kirinketsu_

    2 жыл бұрын

    Umm not sure if you know this or not but we have bombs that go under the ground meant for bunkers, you should ask the taliban how hiding in their caves and underground bunkers worked out. We also do not need to drive tanks anywhere seeing how we can drop them out of the back of planes...not that tanks and foots on the ground would happen in a real modern war, it would be won and over with in a few weeks if not days from bombs and missiles alone, the tanks and soliders would be to clean up the aftermath.

  • @donaldthegreat5809

    @donaldthegreat5809

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Kirinketsu_ Iranians have a long tradition of using the ground beneath. Search "Qanat aqueduct" tunnels. Just like the roman ones but under ground for tens of kilometers. I would say they're much more advanced compared to the roman aqueducts. There are whole ancient cities build underground in iran. Also Taliban is literally on the verge of taking over Afghanistan now, so I am troubled that you use them as an example of American success. The cold war was mostly fought by supporting a pre-existing faction. The only war america fought against a sovereign state since WW2 and won was Iraq. Where it was fought mostly like a conventional state against state war. Here they basically used carpet bombing and then besieged all the cities by the means of blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg is not possible in the mountains the German could never do it in Southern Europe, British couldn't do it in Italy, only the flat plains of France allowed the breach. There are no ethnic faction that will support the Americans in iran. Iran is comprised of Iranic people or Turkic ones who practice shia faith and speak Persian. The ayatollah ali khomeni is of Turkic decent. So there's very little America can do to split the country up ethnically or religiously. Political it might be possible but politics carry very little real meaning than tribal or spiritual aspects in Iran. The Arial transport of heavy equipment is feasible for relatively small military engagements but for mass mobilization you will need to actually travel at least on ground level if not on property constructed transportation networks. America can bomb the Iranian surface or bucker sights to oblivion and achieve total air superiority. Then roll it's not tanks across the alluvian plains of mesopotamia to take khuzestan and render Iran dry of much of it's oil recourses. But to get across the Zagros they'll have to use infantry, which means casualties in the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands inflicted upon America and it's foreign and regional allies. If America is willing to suffer more than it did in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq combined then there's no question America can subgate Iran and all it's people and claim the the right of conquest over the iranian plateau, the most dominant geographic region of West asia. It might take just few months to a year until the American flag flies proudly around the streets of Tehran but the total subgetation of the whole region is destined to take years.

    SSGN's with other vessels would launch several salvos of Tomahawk cruise missiles to weaken their defense system. After that first salvo, we would probably wait to see what's left then fire off another salvo to hit other things. Then would come carrier based air ops, followed by A-10's and other jets out of the EU to handle the tanks and ground equipment. We would do a lot of ordnance drops before the first boots hit Iranian soil.

    The primary reason the United States continues to maintain such a massive military is to meet it's commitment to it's allies. It might sound a bit pretentious, but America does take it's position as 'the leader of the free world' rather seriously. While there are plenty of examples of good old fashioned realpolitik, at least most Americans are fairly committed to humanitarian interests and defending their allies. A good example is the US bases in South Korea. The cynic in us tells us that those bases are there to threaten the Chinese and as a form of imperialism (which they probably are), but they were also designed primarily to protect South Korea from a North Korean invasion. That's not just the 'official' reasoning, the US is dedicated to defending South Korea from an invasion. And a good example of both concepts smushed into a single psychotic yet oddly heart-warming moment is the war in the Middle East. Everything that happened there, was motivated by the interests of Europe. America originally placed bases and weapons (including Nuclear) to defend European countries. One could argue they did it to protect themselves by making it's other allies into a kind of democratic iron-curtain analogue, but that doesn't change the fact that those bases were there to protect Europe. Those terrorists were funded to destabilize a communist-sympathizing regime, for the sake of Europe. The entire Gulf War was to secure Europe a source of oil that wasn't Russia. Hell, Syria was a former British colony. Say what you want about America... but we got your fucking back for better or worse

BAE employs thousands of Swedish engineers too. BAE is the only foreign company that has unrestricted top secret access to US military technology. @@dbsti3006 Mother Teresa. He just regurgitated Chris Hitchens' hit piece "Hell's Angel" on her. Shouldn't have the title tipped off infographics that something was up? Infographics could have simply searched for actual volunteers instead of taking Hitchens word on MT's process. When I researched actual volunteers I found them of every religious stripe and overwhelmingly pleased with the experience at MT's hospice. I also am familiar with the professional and serious Catholic approach to health care operating many hospitals and medical schools just in the US, so I would be shocked if MT's hospice was never scrutinized by some Church authority or simply a curious Catholic doctor or two. Did infographics bother to shoot even one email a Catholic medical school to ask what THEY thought or if THEY had a link to a review of MT?...it doesn't appear so. Hitchens admittedly spent all of an afternoon in Calcutta and put forward as his source Mary Louden as an unbiased volunteer observer at MT's Calcutta hospice, never mentioning Louden was a sensational anti-religious author. As I researched I discovered prior to her "volunteering"(ha) for two weeks for MT in 1996 Louden was actually an anti-religious author having penned or edited multiple books such as "Unveiled: Nuns Talking", ooh and "Revelations: The Clergy Questioned". Not bias at all, coming into MT's hospice juuuusst long enough to claim she's a volunteer. Louden makes a living penning sensational text such as the book "Secrets and Lives:.Middle England Revealed". Her husband is a professional PR person to boot. Louden somehow got a piece called "The Missionary Position" about Mother Teresa into a medical journal. Looking back on Infographics' process I see now he has a smooth presentation which requires a consistent stream of subject, so no, I don't see him as a researcher of any type. Cheers.

    @@wilsonedwards8189 I'm not religious, but I understand what you're saying completely. The inforgraphics channel among others put up videos every day, and they do not take their time with proper research to create a video once every week, let alone everyday. It doesn't allow time for proper research. And to be honest, these people make advertising revenue off of KZread, so the more videos they release, the faster the money comes in for them. Thats why I usually stick to documentaries. They release one every few months, which means they took a lot of time to adequately aquire information.

    @@dbsti3006 Yep, it could have gone the other way. Infographics could have grabbed a single source to rip apart Hitchens unfairly. A bit of logic goes a long way, logically MT was too high profile to not have reasonable scrutiny, but you have to ask or maybe search to get a picture into reasonably correct focus. She was running a hospice which is for dying people, not a hospital. If you know India, people die even today let alone during her time, right there in the streets, it's almost unbelievable. The dozens of Indians who work for my brother(programmers) said they saw people die in the streets. MT was able to offer companionship and a bit of respect for what she could. There may be something to the victimhood mentality she had, I don't know and I still have no evidence she did think anything like that. It is not a secret Hitchens admittedly had vice demons plaguing him his whole life, that conflicted with religiious guidance. I think I remember reading he was bisexual for a time(?) and he had lifelong drug and alcohol issues. No matter what the Catholic Church's reputation re pedos and other things, I do know that two things do not go unscrutinized, healthcare and education, mainly due to the fact workers(teachers, doctors) are required to observe and be active in every stage of a person's life. So a nun will not only teach or principal a school, she will visit inmates, some of whom she may have seen earlier in her life. The link in her mind between proper education and preventing human personal tragedy at that point would be easy. There are studies that proved the statistical advantage of a Catholic education even adjusting for socioeconomic factors. I was indigent with no health insurance and a Catholic clinic in Detroit saw me with young Catholic doctors that were donating time. I'm a lapsed Catholic and I doubt many patients at that clinic were religious at all. Catholics never push religion so outside of a small cross on the wall nothing else said, all magazines in that Catholic clinic were secular.

    A good deal of a nations Military Capability is it's outright battle experience. Is your ARMY soft or Battle Hardened. In the 1980s Iran/Iraq War, Iran's last War, both countries suffered losses but more so Iran. Between their mass infantry assaults against Iraqi Armor and Iraq's Mustard Gas attack against them. There was no leadership that survived to train their future Armies. The US has been at war for twenty years but fresh troops replace those that get out and there are those that stayed with that experience. Through constant rotations between Iraq, Afghanistan ALL our Military Units have Battle Experience. Training also is important but it costs money to do so. No problem there.

Go all in or go halfway as in Vietnam or Afghanistan. Yes, we Americans are for a strong military. We would rather destroy someone else's country than allow them to do it to us. The more aid we can give to our allies, the more they are likely to help us if needed, whether that is using their military along side us, or simply allowing us to stage equipment and people in their lands.

    Any of these 'Who would win' videos are fun. But you have to ask in this one, 'Who would win what?'. It would be inconceivable to imagine Iran in the US. But it is almost as unlikely for the US to be in Iran. Iran would be much tougher to invade than Afghanistan. Any US attack would polarize Iran. It is reported that the new found freedoms in Iran may be the revolutions undoing. Some dissidents are disappearing but large groups of protestors are left alone too. Be interesting to see how it all works out. Short of Iran going nuclear or threats they carry through on, I say leave them alone.

    ACTUALLY, it depends on who is in charge of the fighting on the American side... America seems to have a problem with letting the actual Military runs things and kick ass and take names... Instead, Congress / the Federal Government thinks they can resolve the crap with milder methods, that don't work... See Vietnam and now Afghanistan... They were Congress / Government (not military) run "conflicts" instead of military wars... Last time the Military was in charge was Desert Storm and Desert Shield... They were over and done quick with positive results in short order... The Afghan war started with lies about WMD's in Iraq... Of course it was all BS, we put Saddam Hussein in power back in the 80's and we lost control... After 911 they used it and lies about WMD's to get rid of Hussein and grab the oil for Exxon / Mobil... In the process we went into Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden and the Taliban, but we got rid of Hussein and got control of the oil in Iraq first... Now, 20 years later it is Vietnam all over again... We are pulling out and turning it over to the enemy... All because the US government would not let the US Military actually kick ass, but instead it was just another Police Action" type of deal that failed like it always does... Sad, but true...

    Never underestimate your opponent, the USA (and others) losing in slam dunk olympic events is a good example. Best thing to do is make your opponent your ally by focusing on trade dependency which works best if the businesses have political influence. If there is a regime in danger of insurrection(China and Iran) then all bets are off, stay out of the way until there is a winner. Iran and China are tough nuts because their regimes can act against their trade interests.

    They Iranians don't really care for that as they fight asymmetrically rather then the US does conventionally. That's why they've stocked up on Anti-ship ballistic missiles, patrol boats, remote-controlled boats, cruise missiles and land-based ballistic missiles. And moved land-based systems on mobile platforms or underground facilities. They'll just make landing in Iran bloody enough to force the US to give up a full occupation, given there's only the sometimes narrow Persian Gulf the Iranians need to defend it makes it much easier, the US military has run through simulations of scenarios of invading Iran and it'll give the US a very bloody-nose on first invasion...let alone taking Iran which has more difficult terrain than even Afghanistan.

What solider today in the US military has had to fight an actual army that was on par? Do they even know what its like to go up against aircraft or a fleet of tanks? Or have they simply always had the luxury of air superiority and so jets took out all the real hard shit before they got there.
