Vail, Colorado, is a small town at the base of Vail Mountain, home of the massive Vail Ski Resort. Gore Creek, popular for fly fishing, runs directly through the town center.

Breckenridge is a Colorado town at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Tenmile Range. It's known for its ski resort, year-round alpine activities and Gold Rush history. The Victorian core of this former mining town is preserved as the Breckenridge National Historic District, running primarily along Main Street, with colorfully painted buildings from the 1880s and '90s housing shops, galleries and restaurants.

The Rocky Mountains, also known as the Rockies, are a major mountain range in western North America. The Rocky Mountains stretch 3,000 mi (4,800 km) in straight-line distance from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico in the Southwestern United States.
At the end of the last ice age, humans began inhabiting the mountain range. After explorations of the range by Europeans, natural resources such as mineral and fur drove the initial economic exploitation of the mountains, although the range itself never experienced a dense population.
Of the 100 highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains, 78 (including the 30 highest) are located in Colorado, ten in Wyoming, six in New Mexico, three in Montana, and one in Utah. Public parks and forest lands protect much of the mountain range, and they are popular tourist destinations, especially for hiking, camping, mountaineering, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding.

Extremely beutiful drive and nature. Love the little towns along the way and how the weather got much worse until 44:00 or so then got better... truly beautiful. Salute from *across the pond* as they say

That's Vail Pass. There's bad weather through there often. Several times I've left Denver in shorts and run into considerable snow there. Never gets old.

I grew up further down valley from Vail. Me and my punk snowboarder troupe would frequent Vail and Beaver Creek trolling the wealthy tourists on a weekly basis during ski season. Good times.
