When you were born poor , lived poor your whole life , and accept you will die poor, then life becomes very easy. It is the wanting , hoping , keeping ,and getting that creates unlimited anxiety. I am fine poor , was fine in poverty before , and will be fine in poverty in the future.Always got three meals a day , and always managed a simple place to live ---- somewhere. I will get by.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my inherited portfolio of about $2.5m. I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

This global recession/collapse might end up being a part of us for a very long time. With inflation currently at about 9%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $680k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”-Thomas Jefferson

The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

The banks not only lend the money out to pay the interest on the money in the bank, they earn far more money than the interest they pay you. That money is loaned out overnight at interest and the overage is put in the corporate account diluting the value of the money you have in the bank. That is one of the ways that the value of the wealth is siphoned off the assets of the people. There are many more. Taxes are the nation paying back the banks for the money created in the Fed and there are many stages and levels of taxes on items that are manufactured.
Great information but the music is too distracting offers nothing to the info.

Second vote for eagles, for two reasons. First they're easily recognizable and command a better price. Second, they're more liquid. I can see paying for gas using silver eagles, but I don't see standing at the pump scraping the edges off of a 1 Oz gold bar. The obvious downside is that silver is bulky. Right now Walmart is offering 20 mixed ASEs for $650, or about $33/Oz. 60 ASEs (60 oz) are worth about the same as a 1 Oz gold bar (I was very liberal in my usage of the word "about"). A second disadvantage is that silver is an industrial metal and subject to commercial silver market forces.

the music gives me a headache
I never viewed metals as an investment, but I always saw it as a great way to save your cash & retain the value from when you bought it. It’s not hard to turn it to liquid cash, and it beats letting inflation destroy your savings.

You are in for a nasty surprise, my friend. Gold is often hailed as a hedge against inflation-increasing in value as the purchasing power of the dollar declines. However, government bonds are more secure and have shown to pay higher rates when inflation rises, and Treasury TIPS provide built-in inflation protection.

Then hire a financial advisor? The logic is literally self explanatory. How do I make five figures from the market monthly passively? You think I have a PhD in economics or whatever degree you need to invest?

Yes, but you do agree the amount of information on the internet can be overwhelming? Now we are talking about that, maybe you could recommend who you work with? I've put that off for too long.

Yes, it feels overwhelming when you are starting out, but with time you'll find your foot. I personally suggest sticking with one who understands your goals. I'll recommend Sonya lee Mitchell because I work with her and you could check her website out, but I'm sure there are other good ones, too.

I looked up her full name online and found her page. I emailed and made an appointment to talk with her; hopefully, she gets back to me.
The FDIC insures "UP TO" 250,000.
I will not comply
Just live life. Who cares about tomorrow, tomorrow does not exist.
I want to know why with a debt clock near 35 trillion, why they continue to spend out of control. It's like they know something is coming and just don't care.

We should have debt
No it isn't. I think its horrific!
I guess you are right about decline of the US as the world dominating power and collapse of dollar. But I think what you don't understand that all this is not an obstacle to 'free market capitalism', but a direct RESULT of it. And this is not some sort of temporary recession or depression, this is the crisis of the end of capitalism (you may hate it as much as you wish, but this is what it is, I'm sure). The global economy came to the point where it simply can't sustain the standard of living which North America and Europe see as 'god given right'. Too many people chase too few goods and this will inevitably lead to pivotal change in distribution of the wealth. Sorry to disappoint you...
This is a classic case of a half truth
