I've often found those in the UK have no clue on how vast and powerful American wildlife is. They don't have anything even close.

There are certain states and counties that are basically telling the ATF they aren't allowed. The ATF asked a sheriff in one county for the records of concealed carry permit holders or some such, and that sheriff said no way.

As a rancher in Texas, it’s much needed tool… I’ll always have food.

"...shall not be infringed." The Constitution is quite clear and it's not a suggestion.

Seems like most states are loosening gun laws over the past couple years. My state Kentucky passed Constitutional Carry in 2019.. where a person can carry concealed or in the open without any licensing, permits, or classes.

Criminals don’t care about laws

Many states have what's called Constitutional carry. Which means you don't need a license to carry a gun as long as you already can have a gun legally.

I like constitutional carry, but I have a feeling that the only reason why so many states are now becoming constitutional carry is to politically resist the liberals trying to take the guns away. Back in the early 2000s when I became legal age to start owning my own guns, in the gun friendly states, most of them you had to have a permit. To get a permit you had to pay money to the government, you had to get fingerprinted by the police, you had to take a course showing that you were proficient with the firearm, etc. Now in my state which has constitutional carry, the only reason I need the permit, which I have is in case I leave the state with a firearm.

Guns here in the states have never been a matter of having to use against one another. They are to have for sustenance, for enemies foreign or domestic, meaning for protection against our OWN government.

Protection against your own government is just out of date though. Guns ain't gonna do anything to missiles and nukes.

Keep this in mind: all of these laws regarding weapons are for LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and to keep them defenseless. The CRIMINALS DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LAWS. You can have all the laws banning this or that weapon, but the criminals are still going to get their hands on them and do criminal acts with them. Meanwhile, you've disarmed the populace and they can't defend themselves against these criminals. What type of place has the most frequent mass shootings? Gun free zones. The places that have armed citizenry are usually avoided because the criminals know they could get shot if they tried anything stupid, like commit crimes when those around them have the right and ability to end their criminal ways.

I've heard of several cases where the criminals broke into the safes, or even took the safes with them (smaller ones of course), and then there are all of the guns they get illegally without stealing them (black market). Your argument falls flat since it is aimed at controlling law abiding citizens and not actually dealing with the criminal issue.

Asking them to not leave them lying around on the couch when they aren't home, isn't a big ask. They can put it back on the couch when they get home. Firearms need to be at the ready, but not at the ready when you aren't even there. Your notion that the guns on the streets of America, were taken from safe cracking bandits, no doubt wearing little TV bandit masks, is among the dumbest things I have ever heard. No, they are most certainly NOT largely taken from gun safes. I can't believe you think that. I can't imagine what other things you might believe, if you believe that.

I simply stated what I've heard over the years from various news articles/stories about guns being taken from locked safes and then used in a crime. I also mentioned that many criminals get their guns from "black market" sources. Your argument is going after law abiding citizens who own guns. Most of those people are very responsible, especially since they are being targeted by those who want to take their guns away. They aren't giving more reasons to have their guns taken away by people like you, who think it is all the gun owners fault for the criminals using illegally obtained guns to commit their crimes. Why not figure out how to limit the criminals instead of law abiding citizens? You know, more and better trained police, or even easy/affordable access to proper training of all gun owners so that we can attempt to limit the irresponsible people that do happen to carelessly handle guns, or more proper sentencing for criminals, and not just letting them back out on the streets with a "slap on the wrist"... I don't know anyone who owns a gun that just "leaves them lying about on the couch". If they have children, they are even more careful with their weapons. Sure, there are irresponsible gun owners out there, but there are also irresponsible people who drive cars, drink alcohol, etc... Are you going to try to limit those peoples' rights and abilities to have access to these things? Car accidents cause many injuries up to and including death. Add alcohol to the mix and it gets worse. It is only recently that firearm related deaths overtook deaths caused by car accidents, and from what I've been able to research on this subject, the reason is because criminal acts have risen due to more leniency for the criminals. More criminals out on the streets = more crimes happening. When is someone like you going to stop going after responsible law abiding citizens' rights when it is the criminals and/or irresponsible people that are causing the problems? Or is it that you, and others like you, think that criminals are some sort of heroes or saints and can do no wrong because it's just "their circumstances that lead to their criminal behaviors", so we can't go after them and mete out punishments sufficient for the crime(s) committed. I've known plenty of poor or struggling people who never resorted to criminal acts to improve their situations. They improve their situations, or attempt to, through hard work and responsible spending. Finally, as to burglars breaking into safes or not, here is the result of a quick internet search using "do burglars target safes": top result: If a burglar can steal or break into a safe, they will. “My main thing I hunted for once in a home is a safe or locked box,” one burglar wrote. “That, to me, is my goal item to locate. I would leave everything else to get this, nothing means more to me than the safe.” Second result: While a fire safe that is equipped with a high-security lock does provide some protection against an amateur thief, a professional burglar can open most fire safes in just a matter of minutes. If you research burglary, you might learn that the high end burglars do not just randomly break into a home; street-level burglars will, but the ones that can get into most safes fairly easily won't. They target homes/places that they know will have valuables, or items that they see as valuable and easily portable, which firearms fit that description quite aptly, and they will enter those properties with the correct tools to get the "job" done as quickly as possible. While it may not be very common, to say it does not happen is sheer naivete on your part.

The only problem is in the states you don’t need to take a safety course to own a gun and you don’t need a licence so it’s hard to tell if someone is law abiding. In canada it’s required by law to have a licence to use and own a gun and you can lose it if you commit a violent crime

I've concealed carried for years. I've only had to draw my weapon once and it saved my life. He fled the initial confrontation and was arrested outside the building that I was in just minutes later. Without it I may not be here today.

Andrew Jackson said that in reference to the Indian Removal Act that he signed to forcibly evict Native Americans from their land in promotion of westward expansion, and when the Cherokees fought the bill in the supreme court and won, he went against the decision and it led to to Trail of Tears where thousands of Native Americans died on the journey after being robbed of their homes and displaced. Not sure if we should be celebrating that version of "the American way"...

John Bolton said local governments shouldn't be allowed to not cooperate with the federal government when talking about immigration. I wonder how he feels about not cooperating in this sense with gun laws, or maybe even abortion. I'm pro gun control but I think if a local government voted in by the people of that state decides they don't want to cooperate with the federal government, they should be allowed, but obviously then there should be consequences, like cutting certain federal funding. It's then up to that local government if it's worth it not cooperating. And if it is worth it, then let them live with their choices.

To Daz, it's not about needing one at the moment. It's about having one if you need it. I hope I never need to use mine on someone but in the unfortunate case that I do, it could save my life or the life of others. It's like life insurance or wearing a seatbelt. You don't currently need them but you use them anyways just in case you do.

You sound like a good, reasonable gun owner. And you should have the right to a weapon for self defense, I feel But more needs to be done to keep guns out of the hands of people who have records of criminal behavior, domestic violence, mental health issues, and are otherwise an imminent danger to society After all, it’s not guns that kill people… It’s people that kill people. So there’s no sense handing them the most efficient tools for the job.

Civil asset forfeiture needs to go. It is ripe for abuse and it IS abused. One guy was driving back to Wisconsin from the west coast and he had a large amount of cash that he was going to buy a recording studio with. The police found it, seized it even though he was never charged with a crime. They basically declare, in a manner of speaking, the money guilty and you then have to prove you didn't get it by illicit means. It really does run afoul of innocent until proven guilty even though you personally aren't charged with a crime it still totally upends one's life on the thinnest of law enforcement hunches.

I love our 2A, got my glock 48 the other day. I view it as a hobby just like people who shoot bows with the bonus of having a weapon that can defend yourself. I like going to the range, improve my accuracy and eventually get good enough to enter some competitions.

It's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it

But the main reason to have a gun is because guns are so easily available. It's a catch 22. I think most people, even proponents of gun control, don't want to get rid of guns. Just make it harder for people to get guns. The idea is to not take it away from the people who should have it, and keep it out of the hands from the people who shouldn't.

11 years a go I retired from a local school district after 35 years in the maintenance dept. When I first started working there you could go to any one of our nine schools during normal business hours, and just walk in. The doors were not locked and many were very rural schools. No one ever thought of a shooting there. As the years went by I watched all of the changes first the High School got a unarmed resource officer to break up an occasional fight at lunch time in the Cafeteria Then the Middle School got a resource officer, then we started locking doors. I wonder where things went wrong so sad.

The Second Amendment here in the United States was NOT put in place for sport shooting, hobbies or just the hell of it. No matter anyone's stance on this topic, pro-gun or pro- gun control, any American with an ounce of knowledge, and some Brits as well, should know exactly why the Second Amendment to the Constitution was put in place.

An SAS operator who lives in america now said it the best, taking guns away in america would cause as much uproar as giving people guns in the UK would cause, we each have our own ways in doing things and both countries have different cultures so keep them BOTH as they are in my mind.

I don't know exactly how the federal system in Germany works, but in the USA we have a 10th Amendment that basically says the federal government has no power unless the Constitution specifically grants it that power and all the rest is reserved to the states and the people, and the Bill of Rights (Bill of Rights being the term for the first 10 amendments collectively) as a whole is basically a list of specific things the government cannot do.

The Port Arthur shooting was also a failure of government and in both the UK and Australia gun owners who are never violent had their rights infringed when they were causing no one any harm.

Something to consider when one thinks about loosening gun laws, is people tend to think that Violence would increase. When in actual fact Statistics have shown that locations which were one rife with violence in the States, saw a drop in crim when Legal firearms carry was passed. The reason is most criminals and those whom tend towards violent tendencies prefer to be violent in places where their intended victims are not likely or able to protect themselves with a weapon. They’re opportunists. People who favour gun control point to Chicago and say ‘Chicago’s gun crimes are because of their Neighboring Cities and States having Loose gun laws.” This just disproves their point, because the States and Cities with loose gun control Don’t have the high crime rates of Chicago. The Criminals KNOW that Chicago gun control all but GUARENTEES their victims WILL be unarmed, where as elsewhere their potential victims could be carrying, and able to end their violent career. This is why I dinae believe that if guns laws were reminded in the UK, and people were suddenly carrying revolvers and Glocks, that the UK would suddenly see a rash of violence.

Lol, no it doesn’t We see examples of red flag laws being applied all the time now in states that have red flag laws (and good for them), where weapons are seized from the home of someone who isn’t fit to have them I don’t hear about any Alamo-like final stands with police being shot So yes, if the government wanted your guns (which they don’t), they would definitely be able to come and seize them (which they won’t, assuming you’re law-abiding)

People have a huge misconception about our gun culture and the asterisks next to it all. It’s not grabbing a gun and waving it around. There are tons of laws and responsibilities that come with gun ownership. Not everyone should own one but those who want it should be allowed to go about having one legally. It’s that easy…

I got interested in guns after serving in the US army as an Infantryman and being deployed In Iraq I carried a weapon everyday and got profisent and several weapon platforms We were heavily drilled in gun safety And I guess after serving I don't ever want to be in a situation where I cannot defend myself

In America, the ultimate authority on any law is the US Supreme Court. No state court can nullify or overturn federal law ever. All they can do is get the law into the Supreme court and those justices would decide. Anyone else claiming a gun control law is unconstitutional doesn't mean anything.

If everybody has a gun everybody has the same ability. That is a level playing field. If nobody has a gun, the strongest (and often meanest) win every time. A gun should be a last resort but it should be a resort everybody has access to. I am British and wish I could carry a gun for my protection.

The federal government has leverage over states because they can can withhold federal grants for infrastructure maintenance, law enforcement, etc.

Gun ownership is a Constitutional right where as the right to come here isn't. It is the role of Government at all levels to protect those rights. Illegal immigration is a Federal responsibility and they are acting within their Constitutional function. Completely opposite to the situation with Federal gun control

Had they not overreached and done this...I might be buying my dinner with Charles III money instead of Ben Franklins. That cost Britain something like $120 trillion to date.

Yeah, and horse messengers were the way to get news from one place to another. The 2nd amendment was during a time where the US did not have a standing army, and the risk of the British coming back was a credible fear, so every American had to be armed as to fight at a minute's notice. We no longer live in that time. I'm not even saying get rid of the 2nd amendment. But something needs to change as the amount of mass shootings is only growing year after year.

@@johnzubil2875 I think we would be in a much better place if people focused more on the "well regulated militia" part of the 2nd amendment. If you want to own a gun, you must go through rigorous testing and training. Germany does this with drivers license, you have to take over a dozen hours of training and testing before you get a license. It's easier to get a GUN in the United States than it is to get a drivers license in Germany.

Every man in the us when born is part of the militia thats why all men have to sign up for the draft...it came from old laws on the states books saying thats every man was to have a musket, powder, balls, all camping supplies and anything else a soldier would need in case the federal government failed and the military could not act.. I love what you said about other people in other countries not understanding why Americans are wanting and fighting to keep guns. Some don’t understand it, because they haven’t grown up in America and don’t understand our freedoms and constitution. It’s so frustrating and hard to talk to them or listen to them sometimes. You guys are one of the exceptions, you understand a little about our constitution, and freedom. But others, just don’t get it and it’s frustrating and 🙄 to even try and have that conversation. A lot of times guns is negative in their country, because it’s about gangs, mercenaries, or criminals only. But here in America it’s different, it’s positive, the people have the power, the people have the protection, not just the ones I mentioned before.

As an American, speak for yourself. It's not a positive having to send kids to school wondering if they are going to come back because some unhinged person going to therapy and diagnosed with depression was able to legally buy a gun. Understand, I know several people who have a concealed carry, myself being one of them, but the fact remains that something needs to change. Some states are basically handing out guns to anyone who asks. And then we wonder why we're on track for a record breaking year of mass shootings. What are we at, 300 and it's not even summer?

I own multiple handguns, rifles, and shotguns. I've been shooting since I was very young, and know how to use a gun safely. Years ago, I got a concealed carry permit, and carried a concealed pistol pretty often. Most notably, I had a pistol in my car most of the time. I've since let my permit expire and no longer carry. It was a personal decision, and I don't besmirch anyone who carries. I did this for a few reasons. First, statistically speaking, the act of carrying a firearm increases your likelihood of being shot. Second, while I do have experience firing guns effectively and safely, I have no training or experience using a gun to defend myself or others which can lead to tragic outcomes in real life situations (e.g., shoot an innocent person, etc.). I think that's why reason one stated above is true. Thirdly, I have to constantly make sure my firearm is 100% secure. If it ends up in the wrong persons hands accidently, now I'm legally responsible for what that person might do with it. But most importantly, for me at least, I started to notice a subtle change in my behavior. I'm no tough guy and generally go out of my way to avoid confrontation or escalating a situation. I have to admit, on some subconscious level, I felt myself being a little more brave with the firearm than I would be otherwise, and might be willing to stay in confrontational encounter longer that I would otherwise (giving "driving advice" to others on the road is a classic example). This is the thing that absolutely scared the shit out of me, and I decided it's just not for me. All of this said, I still have my guns and they are ready if needed for home defense. And just to reiterate, that's what works for me. I'm not telling anyone what they should do. But, just consider some of the points I bring up as you make that decision.

The fact is, when both are operated by someone who is irresponsible or deliberately trying to hurt people, those devices become lethal. @@FRESHGARDNER Yes, there was a car ramming in Texas today. We don’t know yet if it was intentional or unintentional. But this country doesn’t have a problem with car rammings. Car rammings here are about as rare as in other developed countries. Mass shootings here are WAY, way more common. Use your head.

Personally I'm all for a nationwide automatic weapon ban, stricter background checks including mental health history, a required gun license, and a required license renewal course every year to affirm that you are still physically and mentally responsible enough to own a gun.

I don't need anyone's permission to exercise my rights. That being said, if you don't trust individuals to have firearms without having first being "qualified", why not apply that same logic to individuals having kids? Parents really fuck their kids up and have them without the means to provide. You can just make a kid with no oversight? Your goal seems to be protecting society so I'm sure I don't know why you wouldn't attack the roots of the problem instead of hacking at the branches. Also, do you apply your gun standards to the government and police?

I think at the very least I'd like to enforce the stricter background check, required gun license and renewal course for police. The UK currently has a problem with violent knife crimes, has anyone ever suggested strict controls on who can buy a kitchen knife. So far 27 states have passed Constitutional carry laws meaning you dont need a permit to carry on your person a concealed handgun if you are over the age of 18-21 so Federal gun control nullification is not a far stretch . What alot of people dont understand is that all this does is stop state law enforcement and agencies from cooperating with federal or enforcing federal laws, BUT IT DOESNT STOP THEM FROM ENFORCING STATE LAWS there is still gun control but the states choice on what those are. so if the state has a law against owning fully automatic fire arms they will still enforce that law but it will be entirely handled by the state and not reported to the Federal enforcement

Thank you for your balanced reaction to this issue. The laws that work in some countries and states will not work for all. My brother and I had guns when we were teenagers. In the sometime we walked through town to a wooded area with a make shift shooting range. We carried our 22 caliber riffles openly. Our Dad taught us the dos and don'ts of shooting. We never got stopped and questioned and we never got into any trouble.

Yeah but look at that sicko in Serbia that just did a mass shooting, where they already have strong gun laws. Those laws failed to stop him. That's because criminals don't respect laws. Banning so-called "assault rifles" and the like is certainly not the solution for this problem. I agree something needs to be done, but I believe it needs to start in the homes and communities of the US, not in a Federal law.

I was raised in the deserts and mountains of N.M. I now live in the boondocks of O.K. back in the day we used guns for protection from animal's and varmints now days we need to protect ourselves from people.

As a Canadian, we obviously have much more restrictive laws here, which are getting even more restrictive with our current federal government. It's a whole other debate, but the short of it is that the latest changes amount to pointless virtue signalling that pisses off law abiding citizens and yet doesn't really solve any actual issues. The ACTUAL serious issue we have, and the reason for our interest in US gun laws is we have loads of illegal firearms being smuggled into Canada, presumably to be used for nefarious purposes, including gangs etc and that psycho who dressed like a cop and killed 22 in Nova Scotia in 2020. He had a giant cache of weapons illegally smuggled from the US.

Moreover, there are even limitations with a green card. In addition, even if the guns were purchased legally in the US, they cannot cross the border legally as per Canadian law. As an American, I do not care what laws they enact in Canada, but I resent the fact that Americans' rights must be curtailed because the Canadian government refuses to castigate harshly the Canadians who broke Canadian laws. WHAT shall not be infringed, though? The first part of the amendment is talking about a well-regulated militia, which is the national guard. So it's essentially, " A well supplied militia being necessary to the security of a free state, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." in order for states to even HAVE militias, they had to bring their own rifles and gear. The government didn't supply it. And the national guard is not a militia. It's a paramilitary force. There are MANY videos of constitutional scholars, who are well renowed, who debunk you're comment.

Dave, Oregan's voting power lies on the west coast in cities like portland where they are more liberal or left leaning. The eastern oregan is mostly rural with farms and ranching communities that tend to be more moderate/conservative. Yet oregan is considered a liberal state when the majority of the state is rural that need weapons and diesel which is another arguement thats being waged their.

Thomas Jefferson said we should revisit the Constitution every 20 yrs and start over if need be. We’re living by archaic rules it will eventually have too be done.

This isn't directed at you guys or Daz or anything like that, but Americans tend to have a very dim view of European/UK gun laws because as we know, Europe threw a couple large... celebrations in the first half of the 20th century. And even after that there was Yugoslavia and now Ukraine. And of course, the US is not a super big state with a bunch of counties, it's a federation of what are essentially countries albeit with a remarkably strong shared culture. It's a dicey subject for various reasons but the country was explicitly devised this way: in a large country of states, there's no way they're all going to agree on everything.

You know we property kicked England's ass, and we decided that we would never be ruled again, thats why we have guns.

Is it wise to react to current events? Where’s the entertainment value in that? This is veering into another format, altogether: that of opinions. Maybe a separate channel might be called for to venture in that direction.

Hi Puff Eiffer, to be fair it’s still a reaction to a video,it shouldn’t matter if it’s a current event or not. We also reacted to the half time show at the NFL Super Bowl at the time, can’t see a difference personally. We don’t think it’s a problem reacting to current events and although maybe not everyone will agree we reckon the majority think it’s a good thing. Ok so I will probably get some push back here but as a liberal “lefty” I believe we in the US certainly need stricter gun control laws. Now that being said I’m also a gun owner and own 2 AR-15’s in my small arsenal. I really enjoy shooting these rifles at the range as they are extremely accurate and just damn fun to shoot. It’s kinda nostalgic in a way bringing me back to some really great times during my time in service. So in being an Army Veteran I’ve had extensive training on this firearm. I’ve learned the in’s and outs, how to respect it, and the damage it can do. The fact that any civilian can own an AR-15, an almost identical rifle to those used today in war, without any training or regulation, is nuts. The fact that a kid can turn 18 today and walk into Wal-Mart and buy this thing is nuts. The fact that there is a gun show loophole where private sellers can sell these rifles without any type of background check is nuts. The fact that there aren’t nationwide “red flag laws” conducted during the purchase of these rifles enabling domestic abusers or the mentally I’ll to purchase these rifles is nuts. Our gun laws or lack of them are nuts. I’m not for banning guns which we have a right to own stated in our Constitution which I swore an oath to protect and defend but I’d have to be NUTS to not see we’ve got some issues here which are exacerbating the deaths of our children. Seeing that the #1 cause of death for children in this country is guns is completely freakin nuts. Enjoyed the reaction fella’s. Don’t forget to react to the “Haunting Case of Ryan Waller.” Again, I promise after watching the interrogation of this guy your jaws will be in the ground and will need help to pick them back up.
