I have the US Shift Quick 2 controlling an E4OD in my 79 F350. I spent the most time working on the very light throttle shifts and the converter clutch on and off settings. The equipment works really well and the software isn't difficult to use but be prepared to spend some time getting the little stuff just right. Great video.

The shift tuning on the fly is a nice feature. I have a 99 grand marquis with a 4R70W and that was the most miserable slow and slushy shifting automatic I have ever driven. I did what is called the JMOD to it and holy crap what a difference in how that thing shifts. It went from soggy and miserable to being able to break traction on the tires on the 1-2 upshift on a wet day if you get a little hard on the throttle.

How did you manage to reprogram yours? I've got a Marty tune on mine but I'd love the chance to mess with the shift points by myself with this software

I have been following this project from the beginning, i went with this set up because of your videos and was kinda disappointed because there wasn’t a video on the problems you had with the wiring or how you corrected them. Would be nice to see more follow up videos, maybe something on a strip with actual times. Glad you got it going, i ran the fitech in my 351 69 mustang beater.

We didn't really want to go into the wiring issues because we felt that they weren'typical of what you would see in a situation on a 4R70W. The problems were actually created by us when we decided to get crafty with the wiring plug from the transmission to the controller lol.

Sometimes I think people call me just a comment. I was just floored that he thought that we were telling people that they needed to be part of Patreon lol. All the people I follow that do this sort of thing recommend putting your Patreon information at the front of the show. I don't do that so that we can get right to the work. Or some of the fun lol.

You have to remember that it will require a throttle position sensor for the carburetor. I will say that US shift system makes a big difference in the way the transmission works.

@@AutoRestoMod right, ive looked into them before and they have adaptor kits so it will work with a carb… but im also thinking ill just get programming kit and run the stock efi with an aftermarket intake that has bosses for efi ports and i have a plan to adapt the throttle body to the manifold

Very interesting, and confusing (for me) I'm old school, if you in a hurry, put in low, floor it, shift as needed.

Great info .This will definitely help me out when I get my Gran Torino on the road. All the research I did. US shift is the best. Where did you mount your control box . And did you add a overdrive off button. Trying to figure out how to mount my box

We put ours under the seat, just too much going on in the dash with AC, Retrosound radio Amp etc. We did add a micro switch OD off button under the dash as well as a dash light on the driverside panel under the oil light.

Going to an all Ford show Sunday. I will be drumming up subscribers for the show.

Definitely interested in a setup to access the different shift files on the fly. Toggle switches, rotary switch etc etc. Fit an O/D light on-off indicator etc. This was just off the top of my head, but on the Mach 1 shifter T handle the opposite side to the button is just a dummy, how about adding a momentary switch there to toggle O/D off-on etc. Just about to start the process of fitting the 4R behind my 73 4V Cleveland so have been following the series with great interest. Keep up the good work Vic

We have the OD light set up to go in the instrument panel on the wagon. That is something that we will be working on, probably off camera, unless people want to see us install the light in the dash on those cars

@@AutoRestoMod sounds good, what's the plan for shifting between the shift files? Will it be on the unit directly or via a remote switch(s)? Would love to see a remote switch setup.

I also have 4r70w trans with Holley terminator xmax that controls trans. In process of wiring now, do u have a momentary switch to keep it from going into overdrive if u want??

Yes. I still need to hook up the light in the dash. Button is hidden under the dash panel next to the US Shift table button.

Any thought of showing how easy to bring the shine back.

Honestly it's something we mess with that weekend.. It is really easy to do and really easy to fix if you mess up lol.

Hey did you guys have any issues with mounting the torque converter to the flex plate or was it a direct fit?

Once we tuned in the US shift Quick 4 we had no issues with short shifting at all.

I wouldn't mind seeing the steering wheel switch install. I have a 4R70W, and USSHIFT module ready to go behind a 460 in my 91 Crown Vic.

Probably wouldn't do a rimblow because they're so expensive. But we are considering modifying the 2 spoke wheel. Things would be the same either way.

I wonder if a f150 10r80 would fit

The 4R was a VERY tight fit and we probably should have cut the tunnel so a bulkier case would be a problem.
