US Marines in Combat Battle of Okinawa Near Naha Sugarloaf Hill WW2 Combat Footage w/ Sound

U.S. Marine Corps World War II video of the 6th Division in combat fighting near Kings Ridge & Sugarloaf Hill around Naha, Okinawa Island, Japan. Flamethrowers, tanks, tommy guns and white phosphorous hand grenades get the job done. Unfortunately the audio is not the best on this one.

My great grandfather carried a flamethrower in Okinawa, he was hit with shrapnel but survived. Nothing but respect and love for the man. Couldn’t imagine what he saw and went through during that time.

I went to Okinawa a few years ago. Went to Sugar Loaf. Everything is super built up and residential now. It was hard to imagine what took place. You can easily walk to the top of Sugar Loaf, it's not that high. Nothing but a small plaque there now and a water storage tank.

This has got to be the most intense close combat in the history of recorded mankind. Brave men on both sides, and it's it's a shame what happened between our countries. I like the Japanese people and I'm glad we are friends now. Ichiban!

This probably was in the Pacific but not WWII. That would have to go to Stalingrad. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers died in that battle that was basically fought in close quarters the whole time.

@@maxazzopardi7446it’s crazy to think but they both have their hardships, Stalingrad being in the cold and one side being severely unequipped for the battle. The pacific being blistering heat to the point of literal 110+ degree weather, then to swamping rains, being unfamiliar with the landscape (tropical terrain) keep in mind marines had trouble adapting to Vietnam so the small pockets of hills and jungles of Japan were just as intense, and let alone facing a suicidal enemy. Taught it was honorable to die in battle or die in general rather than surrender. The pacific theatre is honestly some of the most intense fighting we will truly ever see…

By God I love this shit. I mean, I've been shot and stabbed and lived under PTSD fear but the public NEEDS to see this stuff. They need to see more graphic things...need to understand the sacrifice. Oh and nee to see the M4 where it was meant to serve

Couldn't agree more. For those flag waving self-proclaimed patriots, wake up and start questioning why so many lives are being wasted in never ending conflicts. Loving your country is great but blindly accepting what elected officials try to shove down our throats isn't love or patriotism but just laziness and naiveté. Question, research, listen and verify. No politician can be trusted.
