101 is air assault. You DONT HAVE TO BE AIRBORNE to get the ranger tab. you DO HAVE TO to get into the regiment but that’s a totally different thing. If he was in the 75th he wouldn’t be in the 101

Thomas Anderson He's not airborne man. The 101st is air assault now. They only have the airborne tab for historical reasons. The only real airborne units are the 82nd airborne divison, 173rd, and 25th airborne brigade. You only have be airborne qualified if you want to be in the 75th ranger regiment.

Its the Georgian Army, we were there to replace the 101st with the Republic of Georgian military, That's why there are Marines on this patrol

Because Afghanistan has vastly different enviroments depending on the province or region. For example, Northeast Afghanistan is almost entirely huge valleys and forests (Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, etc), while the South (Kandahar, Helmand, etc) is very flat with arid hills and plains.

FlyingGrunt28 Well that was a case, before they decided to be there atleast 1 year more. Original plan was to pull out this year. But yeah i heard 2-4 platoons would get deployed in summer to afganistan and then they would come back to home end of 2015 if i am right,

***** I think like small deployments of "advisory" forces to Afghanistan each year. I say advisory with quotations cause who knows how many of those troops will be SF. It will be sort of like Germany, South Korea, and Japan after the wars, but smaller. It is meant to keep the peace. Originally, Kharzi didn't want US troops to remain, but the new Afghan leadership wanted them to stay.
