I was on the drill team when this video took place. This was the joint service drill competition in 2012 and it took place at the Jefferson memorial in Washington DC. The USAF won the competition that year. We would go on training trips to learn the sequence and we would be in training for a month. Working 10 hours a day for the entire time. And yes we would break bayonets get cuts and bruises and even break weapons. They are members of the USAF Honor Guard and members will either be assigned to color guard, firing party, pallbearers or drill team. The commander (dude in the middle) rarely gets hit. We would always say he was the safest person in the performance. Best job I ever had.
I think this might be at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC.

You are correct!
Luke to answer your question. They train year around. They travel and do ceremonies, Retirements and special events. This is literally what they do full time.
This guy was like a rambling Peter Griffin. He missed so much because he was talking
This is the Air Force Honor Guard, if i remember correctly this includes the drill team, the color guards, and the group that handles funerals.
I think sun glasses in uniform looks cheesy as well, but notice the style. They're airforce and those are aviators. Everyone needs sun protection anyway.
Very impressive performance. I like to thank veterans of any age for their service when i can because i know they keep me and my family safe here and abroad. My grandparents on both sides of my family are over the age of 90. My younger grandfather was born in 1930 only a few years after ww2 ended.
Am always impressed with these military performances. Question : If you were able to test fire a weapon (in service use or in development) which would it be and why the Barret 50.? Love the videos Luke, look forward to every new vid!

I got to fire the Barret and it isn’t my answer. I will go with EFPs and AT4 and RPG and M203 every damn day of the week. I’ve fired all of these, and they’re all way more fun than the 50. But I’ve never fired a hellfire, and I’d like to. They cost like seven million each, but I’d like to.

Like, the m203 is just fun in a tube, and it’s relatively easy to mount. It throws off your rounds on target for the primary though. But I’ve not gotten to use the 320 yet though. The AT4 is less fun than the RPG because the tube is single use only, and you have to pack the empty shell back out of wherever you launched it, and keep track of the empty all the way until properly disposed. It’s more accurate, but the single use is stupid.
It's nothing related to the video, but want to put it out there for anyone military. My wifes Great Uncle went MIA in the Korean War December 2nd 1950, he was brought home 3weeks ago, he was missing 71yrs, he got orders to go to Korea when he was 17yrs old, but was told since he was the only son he could be sent to Germany, he chose to go to Korea. 71yrs missing and finally brought home and put to rest.
I was a member of the armed exhibition drill team in my high school JROT and something a lot of people underestimate is the physical strength and skill required to flip those damn rifles with 1 hand. The training rifles we used weighed 13 pounds and the ceremonial ones weighed 8 pounds. Took me 2 months of practicing 2 hours every day before I could flip the rifle up and hold it in the air by the barrel with my arm extended consistently. On a funnier note, I did see someone knock their own tooth out during one of the spins once, felt really bad for laughing so bad.
I think this has more to do with discipline, and trust in your fellow squad mate, than looking fancy. 👍
While I was there 6 years, 4 on Drill Team there were very few accidents. I could count on one hand. We were trained very well and trained 8hrs a day, 5 days a week. We traveled around 220 days a year.
Thanks for the video sir! Wanted to address the sunglasses. I’m a current member of this very team. We wear sunglasses only when it’s very bright, as we do many overhead tosses, so we wear them so we can see the weapon before we catch it.

@@PaleHorseShabuShabu definitely the precision and the challenge of doing it. Also, the camaraderie on the team is incredible!
So this is what it would look like if soldiers were professional balisong flippers
Damn Luke the beard looks nice on you
I was on Drill Team in the 90’s. About your comment about the sunglasses I used to hate wearing them during performances.
Likeliest places to see drills: Wash DC/Arlington (and selected sporting events).
It’s the Air Force Honor Guard stationed in Washington D.C. These guys are apart of the Drill team while others conduct funerals in Arlington National Cemetery. Fun fact, the Airman at 1:03 was missing his medal lol
They came recruiting while I was in basic. I did not want to spend the first couple years of my military career doing this. I feel like they invited people to come out to a briefing that were over a certain height but i don’t really remember.
Big props to them! I got to do silent drills in my 9th Grade (Before the pandemic) because i was a part of CAT (Civilize Advance Training) of my school (Basically a cadet training type-of-thing) and it's so damn hard to do. I'm even ashamed of my self because i was an "Armourer" in my 8th grade and i had to learn basic riffle drills but even then, there's timing, coordination, and nervousness thinking pls don't mess up or you'll see all of the students, teachers, and other people's attention towards you😂

It's also great that the USAF Honor Guard is using M1 Garands instead of M1903 Springfields. The M1 is heavier but very well balanced and adds to the impressiveness of the display.
My guest as to were this is, would probably be somewhere around Arlington National Cemetery
You should watch the marines silent one. Really good
That's whats called leadin from the front.
Even in the US not most people don't have an M1 Garand rifle with bayonet. The secret is most of the manipulations they do with the rifles are ubiquitous, except for the complicated spins and flips they come from the same manual of arms. it is the sequence, position and timing that changes. They are just from the ranks, fuelers, loaders, clerks ect. and they tried out for the rifle drill team. The USAF doesn't have many war fighters, limited to the Combat Control Teams that go in with the Rangers or Airborne to capture, secure and repair enemy or enemy help airports or air force bases and make they useable to create an "air head" so more men and supplies can be delivered by air. Never has actually used in combat. The USAF guards its nuclear missiles and bombs and those guys are trained up, they know that they CANNOT fail in their mission. They are outside the Jefferson Memorial.
Guy in the background is the hypeman we all need
An airforce job that doesn't involve sitting in an office all day? I didn't know they were capable of such athleticism.
You have to react to the Spanish "La Legión", they do similar things with CETME rifles (precursor to the g3) so prettt heavy aswell Nice vid 👌
It's crazy if you know how many little historical meanings a lot of the small quick movement have. They salute the rifle a million times in this fr
Question- what would you do if your kids wanted to join the military?
I think you'd like the Dark Docs youtube channel. Lots of interesting military videos on there. Maybe a few worth reacting to. Thanks for making great videos OriginalHuman!

He’s done a couple of reactions to them I think.
Considering that even an Army Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier dropped the bayonet end of a rifle onto another Sentinel's foot, I don't trust anyone. By the way: The Sentinel who had the rifle dropped on him was definitely pierced by the bayonet, but the badass soldier started, and finished his 30 minute watch regardless.
The Air Force DOES have it easy compared to the other sevices.

The only exceptions are PJs, and, Combat Controllers.
Saw these in 2018 at the royal military tattoo! Honestly there timings are insane!
Antirad glasses? Why did that slip passed mi mind.. Ofc everyone needs those.
Watch the marine corps silent drill and this is in Washington DC Jefferson memorial
Sure thing, ill try it outside my home
I'm pretty sure the sunglasses are functional. I see others in the audience shading their eyes. I'm guessing they need to be able to see.
I wonder if there are any videos of mishaps during these routines.
If you like this, you'll love New Guard America.
0:43 thanks for the pro tip my guy, almost did
Let’s go
Question: what was the Naafi like when training for the Royal Marines?
Question: What do you believe are some of the best pistols & rifles, in terms of performance in all conditions, handling, ascetics and customizability. Great video btw
@DopeSauceBenevolence
2 жыл бұрын
My answer would be whatever’s the easiest to break down and clean at the end of the day, because that’s your biggest way to maintain accuracy and function. There’s a reason the M4 is chosen by so many branches of militaries - it’s the modularity of the system. Modular systems are awesome.
Red dead ever coming back ? Just wondering a whole bag of fun just sitting
you should react to the chinese hell march, both the 2009 and 2019 ones are really good
personally If i ever tried to do this, i might try with an airsoft M1 Garand and rubber bayonet.
watch the silent dill by the us marings
Please react to SAF 44 documentary by TrageDiaries🙂🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 love your content. Love from the Philippines
Those guns must be pretty dizzy man
I have a feeling this was in Washington DC or somewhere in that area
The fact you have to say "dont try it at home" when talking about shooting someone in the head is worrying hahaha 😆
Its called disaplain. Iwhats makes us Great not average
These guys are from ALL USAF job specialities. They actually audition for the job. The USAF doesn't teach the "Manual at Arms". So, these young men studied up on it, on their own time, HOPING to get selected and performed well enough to actually be
Question: any tips for helping with covid? ( I have both vaccines but I'm still super sick)
Yea, def DC. Jefferson memorial.
I Want to join the Royal Marines do you have any tips? Also love to all the yanks out there
I am pretty sure these performances are done with replicas or guns that aren't really used so they literally can't fire (maybe with a mag that doesn't allow the weapon to fire unless they change it half way through their preformance), i'm not sure, but i think that'd be proper safety precautions to if there's a mess up, it can hurt, but it might not really wound someone as much as it would it it was real.
now you know not to send Air force as ground units
Won't help them in combat...but that's okay ... 95% Won't see actual combat anyway...It's the Air Force. Their S.F. Guys will see ground combat...maybe some Security Forces and Transportation crews might see some action. All good though...The Transportation Crew guys...were Hella Cool...did Security Escorts for them, in Iraq....( I'm Army we rolled in Gun Trucks .. Up Armored H.V.'s and A.S.V.'s ) Good Times / Horrific Times Brother!!!
The building is the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. I have to say they have improved. I saw a performance years ago and compared to the Marines' Silent Drill Platoon they were not quite up to snuff.
