i used to take this route to my grandma’s house! route 6 is so underrated, a more northern, chopped-and-screwed, way more scenic route 66.

I used to drive US route 6 in Pennsylvania a lot when I was younger, the NYS run is much nicer! Beautiful views! Thanks for sharing

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Wonderful video! It brings back a ton of memories! I Traveled it hundreds of times! At time 3:07 there was once a dip in the pavement that when hit at the right speed, would almost make your front tires leave the road. Your stomach would flip a little. My parents told me that my mother, went into labor with me when they were returning to Cold Spring, NY about 10 miles up US 9 from this point). Dad hit the dip, the car jumped, and my mother's stomach flipped. They say that it was "deranged" me! Dad would always hit the dip whenever we traveled up that road. In that same traffic circle where the "9" restaurant is, there used to be an old-style trailer diner. Where the Mobil gas station is was once a Carvel custard stand (soft-serve ice cream). I stopped at that station three years ago while visiting from Las Vegas, NV. At time 4:00 this section of US 6 / US 202 would flood when the river's high tide got extreme. The winding mountainside section after time 4:00 and before the Bear Mountain Bridge is where a portion of the movie "Doctor Strange" was filmed. It was this road he was on when he had his accident. Then his car (in the movie) landed near the George Washington Bridge. At time 4:59, the yellow building on the right was the old Bear Mountain Bridge Toll Booth. NY 9D did not exist at the time towards Cold Spring. All traffic going that way had to be going to the bridge. You will see signs for "Camp Smith" which is a New York National Guard Base. This section of the highway is known locally as "The Goat Trail". The mountain on the east side of the Bear Mountain Bridge is called "Anthony's Nose" after the historical American Revolution figure, Anthony Wayne (he had a large nose).

Such a wonderful & scenic drive along the 'goat trail' for which bear mountain road 6/202 is named for. 😀 i like this road!!

I'll bet winters are rough up in that part of upstate New York.

They can be, but NY DOT keeps it pretty clear in the winter.

I was born and raised in peekskill, and it's not considered upstate, and the winters aren't as bad as places like Albany or Syracuse NY, which are upstate.
