This week will be my last personal build video for a little while but I end this venture with a bang. It features my mono blue Urza, Lord High Artificer stax/combo artifact build. Urza is a high powered card and I can see why it's such a popular general for Commander builds. This deck has a lot of potential to do a lot of really nasty things very quickly. For those keeping score, you know I already have a mono blue deck for the 32 deck color challenge, but the thought of taking Talrand apart to feed other decks some great cards has been a thought for a while now, but only time will tell. I have so many decks left to do for the color challenge that it may be necessary. That's for a later time though, for now just sit back and enjoy the video. I will be back to my normal budget videos next week, starting with a pauper build that was custom ordered so join me for that! Remember to go watch my other 32 deck challenge videos and ill see you all next week.
Full deck list available here: www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/3481339
While this build is my own personal deck and not for sale, I have plenty of other pre made decks available for purchase. If you are interested in either those or a custom build, please email me or go to the facebook page and message me from there. To see all of my pre made decks that are still available, go here:

    Urza is overpowered in almost every build, though I am glaring at you not because you said it was powered down but still has the Karn Lock, but because of the "flavor fail" of Blightsteel Colossus. Urza using Phyrexian technology? Bah! I cannot talk too much because I cracked Urza at a sealed event, along with a foil Mirrodin Besieged and you can bet that I ran those two together during the tournament. For my EDH deck I tried limiting myself to only old border cards. The hardest part was actually getting that many old Islands .I started the build before Brothers War came out, so I did get lots of new toys. With Ravnica Remastered out, I can also get Cyclonic Rift, not like it needs it. I wanted to focus on bouncing Urza to make as many Construct tokens as possible and STILL that build with the card restrictions is really overpowered. Lots of good picks but I cannot use most of them, but I do give props for running Jeweled Amulet. I got mine long ago and EDH has given it new life for me. As said before, the heightened talking tempo is greatly appreciated

    Yeah urza is powerful in almost any build you put ogether, but even when trying to power down, you need a way to survive and tge lock is necessary when your always the target when you bring him out. I wasn't going fo flavor in this one, I just wanted to do as many different fun things as I could and blightsteel early is one of those oh crao moments I wanted to provoke 👹 The old border look is a premodern thing. Do you play that? I could have done that if I wanted and used tge original urza saga islands for a little flavor but I didn't want any restrictions. It's too much fun to play with as it is and I tried restricting it as it was. Could have added some more stuff that was pure evil but I tried showing restraint. You're one of tge few who like it sped up so much oddly.

    1. Mycosynth Lattice makes all permanents count as artifacts. Karn, the Great Creator makes it so your opponents can’t is activated abilities of artifacts, which all their permanents now count as. Prevents them from doing anything. 2. Basalt Monolith taps for 3 and you can pay 3 to untap it. Rings of Brighthearth lets you copy an activated ability for 2. You tap Basalt Monolith for 3. Then you use that 3 to activate Basalt’s untap ability. With that effect in the stack, you pay 2 mana from somewhere else to copy that effect. There are now 2 untaps for Basalt on the stack. You untap it, then before the second untap, you tap it to add 3. You untap Basalt, then tap it again for another 3. You now have 6 colorless mana. You can use 5 of that to do the double untap/tap thing again, netting you 1 colorless mana each time. It’s a repeatable loop, so you can instantly make as much colorless mana as you want. 3. HBH lets you bounce permanents when you cast spells. With it on the field, let’s say you have a 0 CMC artifact in hand (Lotus Petal, for example) and a 0 CMC artifact in the field (Everflowing Chalice). You tap Chalice for Blue, then play Petal, bouncing Chalice to your hand with HBH. You then tap Petal for Blue, play Chalice, and bounce Petal back to your hand. You’re back where you started, but with 2 extra Blue mana. You can loop this as many times as you want for as much Blue mana as you want. Additionally, this will trigger any artifact cast abilities each time, such as creating a Thopter token with Sai, Master Thopterist. 4. Sensei’s Top lets you reorder the top 3 of your library. Mystic Forge lets you cast artifacts from the top of your library. You can activate top and let’s say, among those 3 cards, there’s a low cost artifact (Sol Ring). Put it on top, then cast it with Mystic Forge. You can tap that artifact to activate Sensei’s top again. If you run into some higher cost cards, you can tap the Top, drawing a card and sending itself to the top of your library, where you can recast it with Forge. This one isn’t guaranteed to be infinite, since you can run into a wall of higher CMC things or non-artifacts, but should generate enough value that it can get you to a win-con.

    I realize this is an older video so if this doesnt get a response i understand, but how does the interaction between intruder alarm and the static orb and winter orb work? I've been searching online to see if there is a clear answer and have not found anything. Any and all help is appreciated!

  • @BluebearsGames

    Interesting question. Intruder alarm doesn't interact with winter Orb, but with static Orb it kind of meeses with what it does. The alarm will allow people to untap all creatures negating tge static orbs lock. The hope is that once you hit the intruder alarm, you're able to win tge game in the spot. Hopefully that answers your question but if not, I'll be more than happy to answer follow up questions.

    haha Urza will do that to you for sure! I'm lucky that I have a friend who is hyper competitive like I am and has no problems with me using over powered decks and cards...and another friend who is much more casual...he lets me run my Urza, but it's really not that fun against him so I've since built 2 other much lower powered decks for games with him.

    I just realized (read the full card again lol) that you ahve to shuffle before casting the top of the deck, and I understand that this is to prevent you from tutoring stuff, put them on top and then play that with Urza. But how often is that actually done when playing? I mean, ok no tutoring and maybe shuffle once, but after the deck has been randomized, bro just reveal the top don't shuffle everytime we want to end the game today man.

    @BluebearsGames you almost never blind spin Urza, he is not thrasios. 99% of time you only activate him after you generate infinite mana and exile you're whole deck. Doing it one at a time blindly (like at the end step of the person to your right) runs a big risk of exiling a combo piece and one important thing to remember is his ability doesn't get around timing restrictions, so if you exile a permanent or sorcery at the wrong time it's just gone.

  • @BluebearsGames

    @@laicuan1 I never activate him outside of my main phase when I'm doing it piece maill. I use it to find pieces to get to infinite mana or lock pieces, but also I never cast him unless I can get good use out of it in the first place.

    Combo#2 is a generic combo that can be played in any deck (basalt monolith + rings of Brighthearth). It does not give any advantage to this Urza deck….yes it is a combo, but Urza is not needed to do it or make it better. Maybe it’s a question of, if not this deck, then where?

  • @BluebearsGames

    @BluebearsGames

    Ай бұрын

    I son believe I said the combo was specific to Urza, juat that it's a combo I added to the deck. The reason its there is because of Urza since his ability costs mana to use and its a way to do it as many times as I need/want to gather whatever is needed to win. One side note, I actually wanted to showcase a "generic" combo to teach people who don't know it exists. There are people newer to the game that don't know every combo out there and it's nice to teach others that they exist. I know it's hard to remember that time in your history of magic, but every day I see people just find the blood bond combo like they are the first. Nobody knows everything about the game day 1.

    lol, no. its not an opinion. its trash. it's actually even more trash in Urza because every artifact taps for mana. you could replace burnished heart for almost anything else cheaper or more useful. I'd even contend something as useless as darksteel relic would be more useful to you in this deck.@@BluebearsGames Forensic Gadgeteer is great inside in Urza. He works like Mirrodin Beseiged and Sai. You get a discount and you can sac the Clue to itself. it creates some wild chain reactions, especially with cost reducers in play. Highly recommend that as a Burnished Heart replacement if you like drawing cards. I'm not trying to say you're trash by any means. Burnished heart was bad 10 years ago and has only gotten worse since haha

  • @BluebearsGames

    @BluebearsGames

    3 ай бұрын

    @RegimentJoker 2 things to point out. This deck, and video, for that matter, we're made well before forensic gadgetrer was even thought of. More importantly than that though, I also stated that this was not a finely tuned list on purpose because of just how powerful this commander is on its own. I added cards I personally liked because it did something that you don't see often, in this case, it was a repeatable way inblue to actually fetch for lands and put them into play thanks to emery and other cards the help get artifacts back for me. I've actually had fun doing exactly this in games and it's funny to see happen since it's not a normal thing you see blue do. Commander is always about playing the best stuff. It's about seeing weird things sometimes. So yes, that was an opinion.
