I wrote to her two years ago and she was kind enough to write back. I'm glad I let her know how much I loved her work when I had the chance!

Oh... I envy you. I wrote her but I have no Idea if she received it at all. I'm from Argentina and mailing services... it's not very reliable. Can you tell us what she said to you?

So sad that she passed away on Monday when I had just finished the last book of the Earthsea series. One of the best authors of all time.

I didn't think it could happen. I never thought I could possible have any more respect and admiration for this writer, yet it happened. She KNOWS how to pronounce Chekhov!

Wow. That rejection letter for one of my favorite books of all time haha I'm reflexively defensive but as Ursula herself writes in the book when Genly Ai is contrasting the Gethenian and Terran attitudes toward haste in travel: "No disputing tastes." :) I'm glad it went on to garner the recognition it deserved however, astounding novel. It does make one wonder how many wonderful manuscripts never saw publication due to matters of peculiar taste. Sad thought. Ursula is an amazing artist, I feel fortunate to have gotten to read her novels, and fortunate to see this recording, thank you for sharing!!

On the question of pacifism, and whether or not it works/will ever work: "All wars end when men refuse to fight."

'If all men were just, what need of bravery? If all men were brave(enough to fight), what need of justice?' definitely a Spartan duo-king! Laconic Philosophy resolved all these "mysteries" 3Kyra...

How does someone with that many awards still feel like she's underrated? I'm sure this feeling won't last long, because she's just too good to be ignored

Ursula is not the bomb throwing type of anarchist, thank you very much. You are very mystical and woo woo and she says to read more science. Yes I am in deep denial she is gone.

The passage she read reminded me of "death with interrutions" by Jose Saramago. I've never tried Ursula K le Guin's books, but I hear amazing things about her.

Honestly, it kind of felt like she was a Siri or Cortana but in human form. She was great at pronouncing normal words but struggled even with the simplest of odd ones. Lah-gin, hahnish, tulken...but yeah, even the pre-existing word, “nebula”, had a pronunciation whose certainty became quite “nebulous” when given a capital as its first letter. “Neboolah.” So, basically, Been-jay-man Way-leen, I had the exact same observation as you about the stumbling and seemingly infinite introduction of the host.

Perhaps they should have gotten someone to introduce her who didn't think her name was "LeGin," or someone who can pronounce "Hugo" and "Nebula." Jesus Christ.
