NOPE, you are correct about NO FRICTION MODIFIERS but just use reg 10w/40 for engine and transmission, ive had 5 burgmans and i change my own oils on all of em. i screwed up once and used ATV oil and had to buy a new clutch ($600 dealer installed)

According to my Burgman K5 user manual: Use SF/SG or SH/SJ oil with MA!!! according to JASOw API (American Petroleum Institute) classification. I've been using API SN/SM, JASO MA/MA-2, SAE 5W-40 oil for 12 years and both the engine and clutch have performed more than admirably.

I had issues for some reason and the head mechanic at Suzuki dealership recommended me to use a transmission oil.

@@rockyp3917This Maxima oil also meets JASO MA2 requirements for wet clutches, but it is a mineral oil [with all its advantages and disadvantages]. In addition, I don't have to buy a separate oil for the clutch.

Where did you find this info? Are more people using the transmission oil instead of engine oil? I heard there is a transfer between engine and transmission oil in the Burgman so the oil mergers over. I always put motul fully synthetic 10w40 in both engine and transmission, and I have to admit that the bike does vibrate on low rpm. When twisting the throttle the vibrations disappear and the bike accelerates adequately. I wonder if this oil solves the vibrations (i.e. bike shifting to high gear with low load and speed). Let me know. Good videos btw!

Hey Mate, thanks for the comment. The information I got was from the head mechanic of Suzuki workshop. He explained that different oil have different additives. These additives can act as friction modifiers. I used to get a lot of vibrations and clutch used to slip. The problem resolved once I switched over to proper transmission oil. I had to flush the oil three times before I could see the difference. The oil transfer between clutch and engine is from a fault with gen 1 bikes. As per my knowledge but I could be wrong.

The AN650 has 10/40 oil in the engine, for the crankshaft/pistons/ camshaft, etc. , (about 2.9 litres), PLUS the same oil in the CVT - about 260cc. Then it has Ep90 in the final drive; which is the swingarm- which is a gear box.- about 300cc. So 3 lots of oil in total. Suzuki recommend to change the ENGINE oil at 3500 miles and the other 2 oils at 7000 miles. I have always used semi synthetic without problem -Note the CVT oil should be Motrorcyle oil designed for wet clutches and not car oil which may contain Friction Modifiers. I have owned 2 AN 650's and have the suzuki handbook and service information .

Good morning. To access the CTV filter, we need to remove the right fairing; is it easy to remove it? Do you know where I could find a video?. Thank you, have a nice day and happy travels

Yes, the fairing needs to be removed but you can also loosen it and pry the filter out.

Wrong, mineral oil (semi synthetic oil) is all you need and is what is recommended by suzuki, the final drive uses 90w hypoid oil. That's all you need. Used synthetic oil in my gsxr 1000 and had clutch slip. Mineral oil all the way
