Exploring Abandoned Horse Farm House
With the original colonial portion of this house built in the late 1700s, this massive home sits abandoned on 45 acres of old horse farm land. The original part of the home still exist. As you will see when browsing through my photos, it’s in the middle of this home. Additions were added on later and the main mansion part of the home was constructed in the 1850s. The home looked different today then it did 100 years ago. The main construction / layout was still the same, however the roof was different. Not sure exactly when the roof was changed out to what it is today, but the old roof style it had was always know to hold water and rot out which could be the reason it was changed out. The barn in the back is the original horse barn. It’s said that champion horses were trained here. The last known owner of this home lived here for many years. When she grew old, she spent her life in the kitchen area of the house while her grandkids took care of her. Sadly when she passed away, so did the house. Her grandkids continued to live in the home but shortly decided it was time to sell. The house and the land was put on the market in 2008 for 4.5 Million US Dollars! 2008 was the worst time for the housing market. One reason why so many of these old colonial style homes ended up vacant due to the cost of upkeep. Of course no one was interested in the house except the famous Toll Brothers. However they weren’t interested in the house, instead they were interested in subdividing the land for newer home development. On the entire property, there are marker sticks in the ground. It is said they were planning on demolishing this beautiful home. However not much has happened and I am not sure if they are still interested in the land or backed out as the public records don't show them as current owners. Today the house is going down hill. Over the past few years, people have started going into the home and stealing stuff. Windows are broken and doors are busted open for over a years time and no one has come back to fix it. Mold is completely taking over this house as you can see in the photos. One odd thing was that power was still on in this house. The current conditions, broken windows, and broken doors lead me to believe that whomever is paying the electric has not come back to this house ever again to see it. It’s sadly in terrible shape and said to be very haunted! Thanks to John Walker for providing me with some historical information.

It blows my mind to see such a wonderful home rotting away and unappreciated. I just love old homes like this one....i want it!!!!
Omg I can't believe someone would abandon that house. What a crying shame. I hope someone eventually buys it and restores it. Great video by the way!

That would be nice if some one would restore this house ,but I doubt they would as it would cost too much
It breaks my heart to see these homes abandoned. Grandma and Grandpa worked so hard 😢
That is an incredible house & it has such potential, it just needs some love. Thanks for sharing.

Ikr.... it makes me so sad that something so beautiful is going to waste. The owners would rather have it rot to the ground then sale at a lower price so it can be taken care of. Sad.

What a beautiful house and truly a beautiful find. I enjoyed this one alot. Its so sad that the house is rotten away and the fact that the children were not interested with the upkeep of this property. Such a shame. Thanks for the lovely tour.
So many wonderful and unique old homes just rotting away or sold off to some developer to pour concrete over. The very old homes are the ones that bother me. This one being an 18th century home is killing me! So big, so beautiful and so much land to roam. Curse all developers paving over our history with cardboard boxes. :(
all the ppl who appreciate such architecture cannot afford it....just life's irony and sad truth
I appreciate u giving history on the house, so many don't, so thank u. what a grand old house, would love to see pics from when it was occupied.

What a grand house in its day.Sad for it to be left this way.My dream house and horse farm just wow.It would have been my heaven on earth.Just so very sad.
This is one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. The set up is so crazy. I wish houses were still built this way.
It's 5:30am on Sunday morning & I'm so sick, can't sleep. But there's a notification of this video! This took my mind off it for 13 minutes. This is absolutely amazing. I try to reconstruct a story as you go through the rooms. This would be my second favorite to the Italian ornate house I think it was called.

+Gina Z. Thank You. Glad i could be a cure for the time being :)
I wish i had the money id love to see this modernized to the max and redone from time to bottom.
I would loved to have been there on your videos to explain what some of the rooms and features were used for. Like the root cellar and the intercom. Nutone Whole House Intercoms were all the rage in the 50s. I have studied 40s, 50s and 60s architecture for years. I love your videos! I imagine the houses as they werd meant to be. I can see a mother bustling around the kitchen, canning foods to put in the cellar. I see dads and grandpas working on projects in the basement. I see children running in the halls and playing in bedrooms. I see holidays spent in the living and dining rooms. I cry at the neglect. Thank you so much for what you do! These are some of the best videos I have seen on youtube. Keep up the good work.
I would love to have this! what a crying shame letting it go to ruins!
awesome video love it all, thanks for sharing, GREAT job here Steve !
Imagine growing up in a house like this! So many rooms to explore, perfect place for kids to play hide and seek

What a gorgeous old home! So much left to attest to its former grandeur. What a shame the grandchildren didn't keep it in their family. I really loved the old greenhouse Thanks for sharing this with us.

What a gorgeous place. Some really nice antiques left behind too. This place can still be fixed up, looks like the roof is still tight and nobody has ripped out the architectural details that make this a show place. Peeling paint is indicative of latex over oil base.
Another fantastic exploration. Your stills are always breathtaking. Incredible talent, Steve! Thanks for sharing with us.

Beautifully and respectfully done Steve. This is this first video of yours I have seen and I shall make sure I see more. I have worked foe the state historical society in Wisconsin and on site at Old World Wisconsin. It is classified as a living history museum and each building there was moved board by board to the site from different areas in Wisconsin. How I wish that could be done with so many grand structures that one finds all around the United States. I admire you and I thank you for getting out there supplying what history you can find and getting on video what you can. For those of use who love the beauty and art of architecture and sense those that lived in these old dwellings imagining what their lives were like. It is a haunting, maybe sad appreciation of those who came before us. Thank you. Suzanne

+fungusmagoo Thank You so much. Very cool!
oh what a wonderful old place. it would be awesome if it could be redone and lived in.
A very unique house. More than 1 family could live there. A lot of rock went into building those structures. It has great features through out the house. I liked this one very much. Very interesting.
This one is a crying damn shame! You can tell there's a beautiful house under all that mold.
It looks like very little had been put back into that place for many decades before it's abandonment. There was some furniture which was probably worth salvaging and that piano was BEAUTIFUL. It was a shame to leave all that stuff where the mold and damp would eventually warp the veneer.
If that lady was my grandmother I would keep a promise to her to keep the house and return it to it's former grandeur and enjoy it. As I was watching the video I came up with a few ideas for the house and the property. The house would definitely have a mancave for my husband!!

Gorgeous house!
A true piece of American history. Built in the 1750s, this was the Overseer's House & is the last remaining structure from the Windsor Plantation.
good job Steve keep it up .

Nice house and with a coveted stone barn to boot !!!! Looks like water penetration from the roof line into the house in the areas from one addition to the other. I love death spiral staircases ever since I was a kid. My mom would tell me to stop running on them so I would get the snow sled and slide down, no running......lol. I always come up with a solution to every problem I come across lol. This is still salvageable, just at a cost. The mould abatement is the big problem looking at the video. Dry basement and dry attic area points me to think the water is coming from the roof line edge at the addition attaching points. Scary to think what is behind those very large thick partition walls between the additions. What an amazing find with 2 kitchens and the cellar off the kitchen. Even an old powder keg storage (where the old water filters are stored) still in place. Just guessing but that powder keg area would be on the very thick wall abutting the original colonial part furthest from the sleeping area
That was my favorite video so far Steve , nice job. Also i get the feeling that you are not too fond of basements... lol. Thanks!!
the rooms are huge. bet bk in the day was amazing.
Such an amazing looking house. Would love to see how it looked back in the day

Beautiful!
These videos depress me. So much history for the homes construction, the land, the families who have lived in it. As one generation passes....the next doesnt care... until what was, is no more....
Peeling paint usually sign of high humidity which spawn mold growth. Its too bad no one rented or bought it. House is a real beauty. Nice find. Thanks for sharing

Love that living room
Pretty big place, very roomy and spacious. I'm a sucker for large spaces. Looks like it was a really nice place before the abandonment. love the living room and attic, but the basement creeps me out...lol
This had to be a beautiful home at one time.
Very cool...all of it, but for me, the attic was best. Great video as always, Steve.

OMG! The dining room!
Hey Steve, I've been here, outside only. They used to have a baby grand piano in the living room corner. Don't know what ever happened to that. Neat house, Thank you for showing us the inside.
The fire alarm chirps!
As much as I absolutely loved this video and the home I just couldn't get past the 5 minute mark. I simply cannot handle the destruction of something so incredibly old and beautiful. It just kills me to see the neglect and vandalism of this amazing place. I pray that someone with alot of money and love could bring it back :(
I'm not sure that I could blame the family for not wanting to take it on, as 'bringing it up to spec' would have taken considerable funds I imagine. Also, with the house being so huge a small family would have rattled around in a structure of that size.

There was a home that I swear could've been a plantation home. Two floors and practically every bedroom had a couch or a fireplace. You could tell that possibly some grandparent lived there possibly alone, and on the first floor were medical stuff. Then after they died it was either too much for the kids/grandkids to take care of so they let it go. Photos and stuff were still there. When my dad died, if I was an only child, it would be too much to clean that house. His parents' and brother's stuff got placed into his home. Stuff was in the shed and basement and wherever. Thankfully my brother moved in and with the help of my mom, we got it all cleaned up. Shame not every house is that lucky.
Es una casa abandonada pero aún conserva parte de su grandeza . Genial el vídeo. Saludos.
Such a shame this place isn't being preserved. This deserves to be saved. Sad really.
so so beautiful place ...
