Urban Sketching Watercolour Painting Tutorial
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this urban sketching watercolour painting tutorial we'll be playing with loose and lively watercolours to produce a really fun and easy sketch.
By applying the watercolour sketching to the page first, we'll be able to quickly create a fun and loose sketch.
This type of painting is really great for loose watercolour sketching. It's a quick technique, and you quickly get a really fun sketch down on the page using watercolour then a touch of ink.

Me too!
Lovely little watercolour and I love the paint before ink method. I bet the landlord of the pub would love that on his wall. I know I would. Thank you. 😊

It's also a nice technique to explore the way that brush hairs works.

You’re welcome 😊
had another attempt at this after last weeks was a bit "watery" - not enough pigment and lack of brush control .... so got myself a black velvet no10 rather than my aquafine12 - what a major difference. made life a million times easier. So todays is a lot lot lot better (practice and a good brush).....Looks like it will have to also get size 6 too, then save next month for you pallet of DS paints.... Thanks again for the videos and encouragement

Well done for persevering!
I do enjoy this ink paint first technique. I'll have a go at this - another painting with your trademark double yellow lines ( that explains why theres never any parked cars in your paintings😂)

If that's an excuse to not draw parked cars then I'm all for it
Oh my gosh. Help, I come from a drafting background. I love straight edges. Also was in the adult coloring book fad for a while. I will be brave and give this style an honest effort. From Toronto Canada 😊

Fantastic!
This is a technique I would like to use. It's probably a lot of training but for the shadows it looks great. Thanks Toby

Glad you liked it!
superb tutorial : been following your videos for a month; getting better (complete beginner), just need to try & get the correct balance of water/pigment (very difficult) - but practice, practice, practice. Once I've nailed some of the very basics I'll be doing your courses (really looking forward to it ;)))) - thanks

What do you think about glass pens as an alternative to fountain pens? Love the painting I'm not confident enough to try this yet as I've only been painting for two weeks

If not used them, but I've heard a lot about them
In a way this seems more scary than going in with a permanent pen first! I will have to give it a go tho 😊. And what's wrong with mud in a hanging basket? 🤭
