Urban Search and Rescue Course (USAR) 2022

14 FRNSW firefighters recently completed the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) course, becoming Category II Rescue Technicians.
USAR is a specialist capability to locate, and extricate victims who have been trapped or affected by a structural collapse.
The course focuses on the disciplines necessary for USAR work which includes area assessment and triaging, structural shoring, concrete breaking and cutting, technical search, and patient packaging for removal.
Our USAR expertise gives the State an internationally recognised structural collapse capability, and we are registered with the United Nations to respond to requests for international assistance.
Congratulations to these 14 FRNSW firefighters on completing the course!
