Hello 💚 I have been gardening for 7years and I have tried to get my kids to enjoy it too and eat the food but they have never showed interest until now 🙄 but I remember you saying that you started gardening because your daughter LOVES vegetables 🤣👍 and it’s cool seeing her get involved with the garden and helping you😊 🌻🌻

Yes, it's wonderful to have as many kids interested in growing food as possible. If that's only one sometimes then that's great. (One at a time ..right.😊) I will never forget being in a Grocery store and having the cashier ask me if my item was "Corn". Corn??..She looked 20 - 23..and worked in the store but didn't recognize Corn. It was fully husked. (I was making a low country boil that evening.) I knew if she didn't know Corn, there wouldn't be a prayer with the Artichokes. ...I was right. Anyway we have a whole generation of people who have been raised with no clue as to what some foods like like in their natural states. And, apparently, no interest on finding out. Did I mention...the woman worked in a grocery store. 😮❤

I think green bush beans in the holes of the bricks, and spinach, cut and come again leaf lettuce, spring onions, beets, turnips, swede or ball shaped carrots, raddish, chives, strawberries just to name a few crops you could plant, lol enjoy whatever you decide.

I think the whole topping peppers thing is one of the worst trends lately. I learned my lesson after topping it and getting nothing that season. It set them back like two months behind and by then it was fall. After leaving them alone they bush out and look like trees and gave me a huge amount of produce.

Hi 👋🏾! Thank you! I’m happy to hear that. For some plants I will spray overhead such as beans, onions, basil, peppers, sweet potatoes, etc. However, I try not to get the leaves of tomatoes and squash wet when I water. I also try to only water when the plants need it. I normally but my finger in the soil prior to watering to make sure it’s not just the top that looks dry. Yeah, sure. When I water again I’ll record and walk through my process. Totally understand. I think we overlook that part sometimes. You’re welcome!

a tip for your garden system...First off....ive been watching your videos....that is what I do to accumulate knowledge...I follow alot of growers...Love love love gardening. I have to use my front yard in the middle of the city and do well...working on additional plans for maiximum harvest and processing. Two tips first id lose the cement boundary on your bed...looks like its about going to give you more square footage and leave you bags as your boundary....should give you a good amount more of cubic feet to grow successfully in...tip two get rid of the rusty old shed and use that space to create a small slender shed with maybe a peg board to hang hooks and shelves for all your garden tools and if youre in the city...looks to be so....lock it...then the rest of the space make a green house out of old wood windows....be sure to clean up and scrape olf paint that is chipping paint the frames with with a sealant paint in case of led in the old paint...just use a razor scraper to scrape up an paint mishaps on the glass panes. Im making a vertical 7 foot green house/cold frame...so you could use your cement blocks to make your foundation perimeter...the cold frame can be completely level you are super creative and the greenhouse cold frame will allow you to start your own seeds early and grow longer...and extend your growing season as well it will protect your starts from veg predators lol. oh 3rd tip....im going to do the same as well. Im going to attach a 2x12x8 piece of wood after i seal it for longevity, to my the outer part of my porch banister. that way I can put in more delicate hanging plants as well as more full sun growing. plus you can trellis on that level as well...might not work for you because I think your back porch is screened in...its an idea for you though...btw planting onions seeds rather than slips will give you huge onions the first year....this is the year first year that onions focus on growing their bulbs big because it wants to propagate in the second year. Onion slip are in their second year thru the way they process onion slips which is why the bulbs dont get to big as they do the first year. Just found that out....I love onions in like everything...Happy gardening to you...if you like cucumber you should try bitter melon on your trellis....if you like cucumbers and I found out....which I do a lot of research on because i have end stage cirrhosis that moringa leaves can be eaten fresh and also dried and milled to a powder ...its a superfood. They sell dwarf ones too....Recommend for your health...I hear you getting winded but you are still young....it will clean your body continuously if you continuously ingest it of course. Look it up...its very cool. Oh btw im very very poor and rely solely on my partner for income for the past two years. It gave me time to really discover how to crunch down on cost yet still enjoy life. You may have like I do a local habitat for humanity Restore. I got each of my big windows there for 5 bucks each....I cant really tell you how great the place is...but if you see something there...get it right then because the sales and no holds...people swipe stuff up...I also use Nextdoor app to check out my local area stuff and FB market place for good deals. Like this laptop yoga im on i got it from a local guy for 100 bucks and it has an i7 processor... Aso check out your city offices...My city collects yard clippings downed trees etc etc...Fom March to October I can go up there and get as many truck loads free compost as I want...however...im wondering if they are doing most of the collection from the rich that live up on the hills surrounding suburbia...I wonder about that ....like their picturesque lawns Im sure they use a chemical to treat their lawns that more than likely use roundup or something of the sort and im trying to grow good produce...I wonder about it because the plants didnt really become prolific producers until I used fox farms soil and put it on top of all my areas...im still kicking that idea around. I need to get it tested. Anywho, it was a pleasure watching your journey...keep up your back yard oasis!!!!

I wasn’t expecting to see such a large beautiful garden, & the way it is set up. You deserve to have a KZread channel to show off your garden. Keep growing and learning, because there’s still so much more out there to find. It would be nice if every plant could grow in every climate. If so, I wouldn’t be able to walk outside. 🐞🐝🦋🌱🪴🌿🌽🌶️🥬

mmmmm, leeks! They have a mild onion flavor. I love them in frittatas sauteed in butter, combined with cherry tomatoes (halved) rosemary and feta cheese. They are also good sauteed with halved cherry tomatoes in olive oil and wilted swiss chard...with the juice of one lemon. Makes a nice side dish or served over rice. YUUUUMMMM

Lemon balm: if you want more, rooting a cutting of the plant, or touching branches to the soil, will root more, faster than seed. They are apparently part of the mint family. Peppermint: I kill mine, every winter, somehow. No idea what I am doing wrong! In pots/garden...guess its my "talent" (said sarcasm)😂 lol

You just commented about the taste of Leeks which we also grow, They are delicious. A mild oniony taste, but still unique. Like garlic is kind of oniony...but "unique" ...you know. If you like onions/garlic..I think you'll love them. ..In the holes of the bricks (great idea by the way) ..how about bush beans or garlic for harvest next season; then you can use some of that in-garden space for something else.

Leeks are delicious! They have their own unique flavor. The battle with the vine borer is intense. I’ve handpicked so many eggs and have sprayed every other day mostly. They seemed to be on a break for a week and then I spotted more eggs yesterday. We have to seasons of them here. After all that fighting, we had a couple of cooler days and the plants are starting to get powdery mildew. 🤦🏽‍♀️
