Parks and urban waters provide excellent birdwatching opportunities. This spring, I was fortunate to observe a family of starlings and herons as they grew and eventually left the nest. The starling chicks grew rapidly thanks to the constant feeding of their parents. In contrast, the heron chicks, with their considerable size, took a bit longer to develop. They truly look like small dinosaurs.
