I hope you all enjoy this latest installment of the Urban Altoids EDC Kit (Version 4.0)! Make sure you check out the PDF that matches up to this video: bit.ly/2L9ZoHe. Special shout out to musician Peter Adams for creating the MacGyver theme song knock-off and Terry Huddleston for the artwork on the sticker. Stay tuned for information on how you can purchase one of these custom kits. We're trying to get the cost lower than what I would cost to purchase all of the individual items for retail. Thank you all for your support of my channel! ~Cliff

I really appreciate these videos. Your previous kits inspired me to make my own kits. I don’t own a car and travel by bike, scooter, bus, and foot a lot, so I put a whole first aid kit in an Altoids and it has been clutch. I keep it in a slightly larger things I need on the go kit. Your kits always inspire me to tweak mine and keep them efficient!

Wow, you've put a tremendous amount of thought into this latest kit. Guess that's what happens when you're noodling around a concept for 10 years! Thank you for sharing. My only substantive comments are: 1) a white Bic mini has the advantage of allowing you to see the remaining fuel level as it's semi translucent, and 2) you and your viewers might also enjoy another micro gadget/prepping channel: MeZillch. He also scratches that OCD/MacGuyver itch that I find so enticing!

She has been on and off with prepping, but after my wife got on board, she got more into it. I love the pouch you have! On a personal note, my initiation to prepping is watching Mad Max 3 and there's an inset shot of Gibson's fingernails. They were filthy and long. I remember when in your EDC version 2.1 you talked about our country, and believe me when I tell you that the conditions here have not improved, on the contrary, they have worsened. Congratulations again for your channel. I wish you success, regards.

I haven’t been back since oct 2014. I love the country and miss a lot of things. I still have friends and people I consider family there. If there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to email me ( entropy888@gmail.com). I have friends in Argentina and Columbia that may be able to ship things to you from me. I recently had the idea that another option for a pocket kit is a cigarette case. They’re similar in size and some of them even have build in lighters. I also just think they’re cooler looking. Plus having the items vertical rather than horizontal should make it easier to get stuff in and out. I’m not sure if they’ll hold quite as much, but it seems like a decent trade-off to me.

Great idea to use magnets to hold everything in place - thanks for sharing. I'm not superstitious, so I always carry a white mini-BIC to see, how much fuel is in there and I detach the child-safe clip. To help prevent accidental release, I grind the release lever, 'til it's not sticking out any more - and put on a cover of small innertube, great for fire starting. Instead of nail clippers, which leave a sharp edge that I always catch on something, I carry a nail file, ground to size - if you use it wet, you can touch up your blades too. In the medical/MISC- compartment I carry at least 4 water purification tablets and in the tin one or two 1 quart plastic bags.

Hi. Great work! I suggested some time ago, that adding a hand-sewing needle and few feet of a strong thin thread (which can still be used in regular needles in regular sewing machines), and a couple of shirt buttons would be a very nice addition and will not take up any space at all, you can keep them in the MISC tin. Plus I find that keeping a 1 meter paper-based measuring tape from ikea very nice, which will go nicely in this tin , or your wallet. Oh btw Nail Clippers are must for humans. I don't understand people insulting them or you for having a nail clipper. I always have one in my pocket/keychain. Even a simple thing as nail clipper has multiple uses. Also useful to keep the nails of my kids in groomed state. Also helpful in cutting a slice of skin off if there is a shin sliver along the skin. fI also use it to file/smooth out broken nails in case a it breaks accidentally during some work, and is causing the regular annoyance. I also think that selling these tin kits would not be a great idea financially (or even time wise) , as there are very few buyers. Besides, you have shown how to make it ourselves and have open-sourced the list of items, so people can simply buy the stuff themselves and can build one themselves, that would be actually more cost effective for them. Here is the link to strong sewing thread: www.stoffogstil.no/sytilbehor/trad/bjornetrad-150-m

There's always room for a razer blade:) also, for Urban EDC you could switch to the 4mm bits & fit more of them. Wiha sells that 1/4 -> 4mm adapter. I do agree on the nail clipper; I've carried the Swiss army nail clipper for years! Also, I like to carry a bit of that poster putty stuff & a threaded needle. Finally, I found a small wallet that fits Altoids at Staples.

The belt clip kills me 😂 I do carry one of these often. I have three young kids and anytime I go to an amusement park or anywhere for that matter what I'm going to be out all day I carry one that has things I may need, a couple of pieces of toilet paper, a few different types of medicine, a Gerber dime, a lighter, and a few other things. It's a super great idea and comes in handy almost every single time I have it. I also have one that's quite a bit bigger that I keep in my backpack that has things like water purification tablets, snare wire, fishing hooks, a thermal blanket, etc and is more geared towards actual survival. I'm pretty sure though, the first time ever saw this idea was on your channel a few years ago. Keep up the good work.

Retired Contractor, 2 x kids in college, I always have a tool belt in the truck that will do most things, car/boat/whatever in an emergency. But have often found myself without my truck, kids dorm rooms etc, where I am headed to HD because I am unarmed for the task. Your combo screwdriver/bits/MOST IMPORTANT the ones that you include that fit IKEA, and most other assembly furniture would have saved me many times over. Personally I would would just add a #1 phillips bit (works on lots of furniture/chairs etc) and a few more torx bits. Very nice Video, thank you.

Nail clippers, sanitizer and dental floss are probably the only hygiene items I always make sure are ready to go. All three keep you disease free ish. All three have multi function. All three serve morale. PS did you know that Swiss Army makes a pretty cool multi - smal nail clipper, scissor, blade, tweezer and pick pocket tool? It’s about the size of a 1/4” thick USB drive - might fit perfectly in there and save you some space?

Except MacGyver only needed a swiss army knife. Not an edc altoids tin, an edc backpack to go along with an edc messenger bag, not to mention pockets no doubt filled with more edc gear. Just a swiss army knife. As if knowledge was more important than gear. Makes ya think.

@@basp-ef7jx "All I need are these everyday objects - a toothpick, some liquor, a gun with no bullets, bullets, and three of my MacGyver writers" Selma: "Okay" Not that knowledge isn't cool and all, and I loved MacGuyver as much as the next 80's kid - but 9/10 of what he did wouldn't work in real life. Mythbusters even tested a bunch of them. Makes ya think.

Good little set up. we do a small pack kit for SHTF scenarios that is designed for when things get tough and you need to find food but town isn't too safe. It includes snares, pliers, small emergency can openers, fire starter, shelter and bunch of other things. I may put one together for you to demo if your willing.
