Oldest restaurant in Mangalore? Once again we are in Mangalore with Mangalore seafood delicacies. This time we were in Akkammakkas Meals House and Janatha Lunch Home. Akkammakkas restaurant is popular as one of the oldest restaurant's in Mangalore. ഇപ്രാവശ്യത്തെ യാത്രയിൽ മംഗലാപുരത്തെ പഴയകാല ഹോട്ടലുകളിൽ ഒന്നായ അക്കമാക്ക ഹോട്ടലിൽ മാർട്ടിന്റെ ഒപ്പം പോയി. ഒരു പഴയ വീടിന്റെ ചായ്പ് പോലെ തോന്നിക്കും ഈ ഹോട്ടൽ. ഒരു വീട് തന്നെ ആണ് അക്കമക്ക ഹോട്ടൽ. ഇവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾ മീൻ പൊരിച്ചത് കൂട്ടി ഒരു നാടൻ മംഗലാപുരം ഊണ് രുചിച്ചു. അടുത്ത ദിവസം പോയത് നമ്മുടെ കൂട്ടുകാർ പറഞ്ഞ മറ്റൊരു ഹോട്ടലിലേക്കാണ്, ജനത ലഞ്ച് ഹോം. ഇവിടെ പല തരം മീൻ വിഭവങ്ങൾ കൂട്ടി, എനിക്ക് കരി വേപ്പില കൂട്ടി പൊരിച്ച പ്രോൺസും അയക്കൂറ തവയിൽ പൊരിച്ചതും ഒത്തിരി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു.

During our previous visit to Mangalore, we visited many popular seafood restaurants in Mangalore. Our viewers suggested a few to us after that trip. So this time, Martin and I visited those restaurants, Akkamakka, one of the oldest restaurants in Mangalore was the first. According to Martin, Akkamakka is one of the popular restaurants in Mangalore that provides food at affordable rates. As we reached there a little late, we missed out on the prime lunch hours and dishes. Food was simple and tasty.
The next day, we went to Janatha Lunch Home, which is also popular for seafood. Here we tasted more variety, and enjoyed the food. But this was not a budget restaurant.

When I went to Mangalore in 1975,I ate lunch at Deewar Bar & Restaurant, which was located near the old Hampankatta bus stand.The Kerala style meal and Bangude fry was superb.Last year I revisited this city, however, I could not find that restaurant anywhere in that area. Finally, an auto driver took me to Janatha restaurant. I really enjoyed the delicious food they served there.
