When I was watching this matchup, a few mins in I knew Rapha was going to dismantle everyone and take the event, which is a lukewarm take, but he looked like he was in invincible form. Compared to last year’s LAN this was night and day. Shouldn’t really expect less from Rapha but it was still great to see him this dialled in.

@@dariusus9870 They played on a LAN server in Romania(IIRC?). It wasn't online only like the year before, it just wasn't in the US.

@@dariusus9870 Damn, I thought the normal policy was to ship out the LAN server like it's done for 3rd parties. That's actually fucking terrible, the fact this game's networking is so abysmal is just sad.

@@Reaching8 I don't know all the intricacies of what happened but i completely recall rapha and tox saying that it wasn't an actual lan but just low ping which sometimes felt good and sometimes horrible. The way they handle everything relating to this game is abysmal to me. From not banning cheaters, map geometry, silly store and silly items, horrible marketing to netcode, communication and support, the game is a mess, sadly.

@@dariusus9870 It's the ultimate in games for no one, or at least for a limited audience. Wierdly enough the champions part wasn't the part that offended me so much, it seemed like a horrendous idea, but was handled better than the other isses. Levels with no small healths or shards, no ability to side-load custom maps(in a quake game), forced central server(in a QUAKE game!), etc. Can't even monetize the game right, why can't I buy like a 125FPS pin to support a community cup, or send my friend a Quake III rocket launcher skin to his account? The people who still play are all old head quakers for the most part, or at least people with more classic sensibilites. It didn't attract anyone new, just mildly pissed off the existing player base. I'll look into that and see if they actually LAN'd the games or not, wouldn't be surprised if they fucked it up, I just never thought they'd do something like that.

@@Reaching8 fully agree with what you said. And even after all these years you still get stuck in some parts on some maps. Vale and exile comes to mind.... It's saddening because there's so much potential. And it doesn't have to be some absolutely revolutionary thing. If you do find something out or i misunderstood both rapha and tox I'm apologizing in advance. But I'm absolutely sure they both said that. Anyways gg

Honestly I can't tell if it's more rapha being a straight beast this year, or more the others just weren't in championship shape, You can tell rapha put in the hours, but Killsen and raisy? When it came to facing rapha, it just seemed like they struggled to make it competitive, no disrespect to them, maybe the fact that they from EU, hours long flights, some jet lag maybe? Idk

@@dont_think2x i was thinking the same thing eu-us flights are a massacre, the jet lag is really bad. Doesn't change the fact that rapha was in his top shape this year. I too wish it was a bit more competitive though.
