Hi man, thank you for the very interesting video. I left Distrokid few years ago but I also didn't really got started. I wanted to try new distributers also where I pay per release and not having any annual fees. But the risk is for me to high there if for some reason this distributer will take down the music (the way I heard it have been happen a lot of times) After your video I was also thinking to move back to distrokid BUT: according where you living you could end up paying taxes from your releases trough Distrokid and the other thing I'm still concerned is the fact, I need content ID for my upcoming new KZreadchannel. The issue with that is that you have to pay extra for that EVERY YEAR PER RELEASE! And that will be very expensive depending on how many tracks you want to keep with content ID for KZread every year! The business model scares me because... Distrokid says upload unlimited release, ok but then keep paying for them every year extra for the Content ID. The other downside apart from the content ID is. If at one point you can't pay the annual fee like I did, they will take down the music from all stores. I don't want to scare you man. But that was the point because I've chosen to distribute my singles or Album paying per song or Album with no subscription. Yes you pay more in the first run but then you don't have to pay fees every year and hidden fees like content ID per song or album. But like I've mentioned I'm concerned by them as well. It's hard to find the right distributer sometimes that I slowly lost my passion of making music. We now how much time it takes for us to make a good single and then we have to deal with that oh man. I saw your frustration because of Ditto in the last video and I saw myself. Recherche yourself about Distrokid maybe I'm wrong. I hope in an update video :) Love your channel great work id hard to find honest reviews from people especially the big KZreadrs mostly lied because they just want to get profit. You have my sub and support. That was my longest comment ever I guess you can tell my frustration too LOL

Thank you very much for your comment and sub Dolores. It means a lot. You have made a lot of interesting points. In the past, before I started this channel, I was with Tunecore and paid per release but I found that I had to renew my fee per release each year and, the more releases I added, the more I had to pay. So this wasn't a very good business strategy, unless you are a massive artist who makes a large profit from streams. This is why, in my view, paying a flat annual fee works better. I agree that Distrokid want extra payments for additional things but then so do Ditto. Let me put it this way, the streaming market isn't very favourable for smaller artists overall. Ultimately it is much more profitable to sell your singles or albums either through Bandcamp or even by yourself setting up your own online shop. I intend to make a video about Bandcamp at some point too. For now I have decided to release my music on streaming platforms as well and I will give it some time to see how it develops. I also hope to eventually get on a couple of playlists and get some more exposure through that. When it comes to protecting your music, I recommend registering yourself and your songs with a PRO (Performance Rights Organisation). Again, a topic for another video. :) I will explore a content ID properly and do a video on that as well. I hope that helps and thank you for being here. :)

Hi. Unfortunately this info doesn't appear to have been published on either Ditto's website or Distrokid's website. I would imagine that the process might be very similar to the one that you use with music. However, I would recommend asking Ditto customer support before taking any action. I don't have any videos published through a music distributor so I haven't been through that process myself.
