The nail marker looks great. I especially like the idea of using the chalk to mark multiple holes at once. Looks like a real time saver.

Hi Mortbed, thanks for writing. Two ideas: un-upholster the area & add wood so there is a base to pound into or if the area is chewed up from previous nails, add wood glue mixed with saw dust to fill the holes. Let it dry overnight & pound away. OR Use a good contact cement under the nail head but this can get messy. We suggest using Barge (a glue brand used for leather). It can be found at a good shoe repair place. A little goes a long way---but it will never replace wood to pound into!

What if the furniture you want to upholder is curved? any solutions?
