Get / make spacers for the castors if you want it taller. Excellent chest. Congratulations

I've had mine for almost two years, totally satisfied. Got a 73" and a 56". I think, if I had it to do over again, I'd just get two 56" boxes with one hutch and one top chest. I find the drawers on side just a bit too narrow and I have trouble organizing them.

That makes sense. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with it, but so far I've been using the small drawers for drivers, picks, and knick knacks. The larger drawers are definitely more useful for large collections of similar tools, and I could see the 2x 56" cabs would better accommodate that style of setup.

I really think they need to make a mid cabinet with one more wide socket drawer this would bring the hutch up 8". Matco offers it.

I went with the whole kit and kaboodle and love it. 73 in box, two side cabinets, stainless top, and hutch. Everything about it is top notch. The side cabinets are probably beefier than some big box store "safes". Everything is super solid with some double walled construction. The drawers have reinforcement ribs underneath. Nice power drawer. Nice drawer slides. The locks seem pretty nice too although the keys are crap. I went all out a few years ago because I had a hunch that inflation would hit these big bulky items the most and I was right. I paid 5800 for all of this after signing up for the cc to get a discount plus I think there was another 10% discount going on at the time. It is thousands more now so I'm glad I got it while I did. High inflation means buy now while you can. There's a risk it gets completely out of hand which will drive people to buy everything from every store while they can, but this drives up prices further. Once this cycle starts it is very difficult to stop because when people buy stuff early then see the price rise 20% after a few years, it reaffirms that buying early is the smart choice.

You definitely lucked out. I spent about that without the end lockers and I thought I got a steal! I wouldn't trade it for the world though.

@@distractor_beamreviews Yep. I would buy it all again at full retail. It’s still a good deal and I think about buying another main roll cab every now and then. I also think about buying just the end lockers to use as standalone secure storage. They weigh 400 lbs each which is on par with many gun safes. They are really good lock boxes plus they have nice slide out drawers. Harbor freight should consider getting them UL rated.

Inflation didn't hit these Icon boxes much though The U.S. Generals base cabinets went up way way way more %wise. Some of that is ofc due to some feature additions from S2 to S3, but the huge popularity of the U.S. General line is responsible for a most of that price increase. In addition to tariffs and monetary inflation too ofc. S2 72" -> S3 72" was basically a $700-$800 increase going off the old $1,000-$1,100 coupons they used to have for S2 which were very very easy to come by that it may as well have been the MSRP. ($1200 was the base price otherwise, if you somehow couldn't find that coupon) HF also downgraded the casters (metal to plastic) on the S3 boxes which is kind of disappointing so seeing them sit at $1800 MSRP/base price makes the Icons look so much more enticing right now considering how much heavier built they are. The Icon 73" actually came out at $5,000 for the 73" base cabinet way back when. The market deemed them overpriced, so HF dropped them to $3800 base price in May 2020 (source: Toolguyd). Then they later moved them down to around $3,029-$3200 base price sometime between 2020-early 2022. Then later increased the price to $3500 base for a year+ and they sat there right up until this last week. Right now they sit at $2999 base price which is actually the lowest they've ever been. Technically lower if you consider the value of the dollar now vs the value of the dollar 3 years ago. ($3,000 today = $2500 in 2020, and the Icon 73s were never ever $2500 base price at any point in time) And with a 25% off no exclusions (which wasn't really a thing yet back in 2020/2021 either) they can be had as low as $2250 now. Ofc that one isn't super easy to find like many other coupons. But they're out there. I've already had my hands on 4 of them. Maybe the side boxes/hutches/lockers are soaking up a lot of the margins they miss out on with the 73" bases being as cheap as they are atm. Idk, not really interested in scoping price history on those. They are a tough sell at $1300 base price for a little end cabinet or $1600some for the lockers. ($975/$1200 on sale, still a tough pill to swallow all things considered) I could still put together a similar system for $5.4k-$5.8k over the next few months, if that were my priority right now, which it's not. (73" base, 2x side cabinets, SS top, hutch) Just got the 73" base (in Green) for $1950 after all the discounts.

I am considering one. Nice looking but not fully spot welded like pro boxes. Instead, rivets are used in many areas especially on the interior vertical support members.

Can you explain why spot welds are better than rivets? Spot welds are the lowest quality welds so to me it seems rivets sound better.

I think the icon hutch doesn't have a bottom. You fellas in your shop could probably fabricate a 6 inch extension fairly easily.
