Watched you rant and rave that repair on the other channel, your months ahead and many dollar's saved over fixing the black one. Your so lucky you found the red car, before you spent lots of time and money on the black one, good timing for you, if it would have been 4 months from now the black car would be a money pit, and never as nice as the red one is already. It's a nice car and it always was, better that than a restoration project, nice car Bob.

Drills holder and ends up being wonky 😂 That stereo looks way better than the previous and looks very fitting with the car. One thing I noticed was the overspray on the door where it looks like the previous owner spray painted part of the door card, even the screws were sprayed. Amazing what the door card hides.

Don't worry what others say about your phone mount holes, you have a good mounting position, and great mount for your phone, you will not have to play around with it again and will be great for you.

I know it's too late, but another mounting option might be a steel or aluminum bracket that comes out from the fuse box area. You screw one end solidly in the fuse box area and the metal bar is bent and comes out the gap of the fuse box cover and extends up over that would veneer section. Venue attach your phone mount to the end of the metal bracket. Another option would be to remove that nice wood veneer piece and replace it with a plastic or generic wood piece. Then keep the original piece in the trunk somewhere.

Properly mounting those front door speakers is it going to be a real challenge. I wouldn't recommend all that polyfill because water does drain into the door cavity. The speaker cone vibrates so you want to make sure the speaker frame is mounted very solid. That looks like a job for a professional stereo installer. They would probably make a custom mount from ABS plastic and heat it to give it the proper shape. A custom installer might also be able to find a way to hide a pair of tweeters somewhere in the top of the door panel or dash area. That would allow you to run slightly larger speakers in the factory location for a little extra bass. The drop down door would not affect it. A little DSP 4 channel amplifier like the Kicker KEY amp ($250) would be perfect to run those four channels. You'd get 50 watts x 4, but most importantly it has a microphone that allows it to set crossovers, time alignment and equalization automatically. That would have it sounding really sweet. I'm not sure what you could do for extra bass, though. You could put a small subwoofer in the trunk, but it's not going to flow into the interior very well. Plus the convertible design makes it hard to get bass. The best idea I have would be a small sealed enclosure mounted into the passenger footwell. A single 8 inch sub would be pretty decent and its exterior could we made to match the vehicle so it looks invisible.

That cotton filler you put behind the speaker will get damp and wet and cause the door to rust out. Water enters doors and passes out the bottom.

Bob that car looks beautiful, I'm gonna definitely have to go back and follow you working on it. Head unit look awesome! However speakers oh my... I would have put in some good 4x6 front and back. I just cringe, I used to do custom install. I can't believe you drilled dash that... I get it you need a phone but so many options. Piece of that 1" heavy duty black 3m double sided would have done the job. You know I came up with a great option from my truck. I don't have a chord to plug in on mine anymore, I use bluetooth... Oh you want to charge it... Well let's see you have a center console there, with a big open cubby right perfect size to set your phone to set into and all you have to do is put a wireless charger in the bottom of that cubby. That's what I did to the lid of my truck console. I mean they already make aftermarket lids with to do that, So it wasn't my original idea. However, I was able to find a wireless charger for $20 on Amazon that fit perfectly in the factory lid opening, Rather than paying for $150 after market lid with charger built in. Works great, I just turn the bluetooth on, set my phone in little slot on the console lid and it starts charging get to go... No wires to go bad no mess, clean and works, and nobody would even know it's there.

There isn't much room unless I mount them externally, which is where people sit, so the speakers would be blasting their hips. I need to look for some solutions.

@RobertMoseley That's why I suggested a 4x6... You said those are currently 3 inch... Which means a 4x6 would only be like an inch taller, just twice as wide... Putting out a little more sound especially with a good quality speaker... You're never going to get a big bass sound or anything out of them, but should produce more quality sound. I'm sure it would take some work, but I think they would fit... But I ain't never worked on Rolls... love it's such a beautiful car Bob.

For $20 you could have not destroyed the wood and went to Amazon and got a cell phone holder that attaches to the air conditioning vent that’s a plastic thing with a hook and tightens in the front as nd hangs down not impeding the air and would sit at almost the same spot and is not permanent and you can untighten it in seconds and is solid mount.
