Greenback all day V30= too piercing in treble Creambacks = too muffled Greenback= the sweet spot !
They all sound great...but damn, the G12M Greenbacks just have a certain sweetness to them that make them the speaker everything else is compared to. Nicely done!
@adamwatson6916
7 ай бұрын
Agree but I think the Creamback M65 also has that sweetness but a little bit smoother. For some it's too smooth and they like the extra bit of bite with the M25. I like both each has their perfect place. Mixing the M25 and M65 together is where it's at . Smooth but not too smooth.
@adamwatson6916

The Creamback H is heavily influenced by the old G12H30 Greenbacks which gives it a Greenback flavor .
Man that Creamback sounded so good. Maybe in the context of a mix V30 might be better, but isolated that Creamback tone hits the spot.

Put an M65 in my Marshall DSL I couldn't be happier. Decided against selling the amp. The speaker was just wrong. When I get a Plexi with a 2x12 I'll go for one Creamback and one Greenback. I think that'll be awesome.
I don't understand why people in the comments keep mentioning "V30". There are no Celestion V30 speakers demonstrated in this video!! Marshall Vintage G12 is the original speaker which the V30 is based on. And yes, they do sound different!
@mrEmu7

The marshall vintage is a v30, in fact it is the original 1986 design of the v30. They are a bit different than current production v30s though, as are the ones made for Mesa cabs.

@@MangoMeoww Yeah I have the 401 cab, it only has one speaker, and the amp has a lot of low end and fizzy highs so a Creamback should take care of that. Eventually I'll get an SV20h with 2x greenbacks, maybe one creamback for a mix. It's been 15 years, I can justify a second amp :) I'll use it as a cab so I can spread out the cost of the mini Plexi.

All of those Celestions sound incredible. Also, your riff is way cool as well and consistent for evaluation between these different speakers. I have a Marshall 1960 Lead Angle cabinet with two Mesa V30's and two G12H Creambacks in an X-pattern 16 Ohm. That combination is killer for 'Heavy' guitar sounds. Great video and awesome playing. Outstanding video Sir! Very easy to hear the differences between the speakers. I play through a Marshall1959HW head quite a bit and I love the G12H-30 Greenbacks in my matching 412 cabinet, but I did notice the Creamback 65 had some tasty tones with the 5150 head. MusiX is on the game with that type of deals and services. Best speaker shakedown I have ever seen, efficient and multi complex like real world. I have a 100W 59Handwired Plexi I always ran Ed Van Halens version of the greenback and greenbacks in my Marshall 1060BX. Until I got the Marshall Handwired 1960BHW Cabinet. Great video again. I love Greenbacks with Marshall amps. Not a fan of the G12T75 at all, though Yngwie uses them all the time and they work for him. I have my 4x12 cab loaded with two Greenbacks and two vintage G12H30 speakers with the lower frequency cones. Has a lot of body and a lot of bite. My Marshall 2x12 has a Warehouse Speakers ET-65 (like a G12H clone) and a Warehouse Retro 30 (similar to a Celestion Vintage 30). But in my Vox AC30, it has to be Celestion Alnico Blues. Essential part of that Vox sound. I've played AC30s that have Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, and it sounds and responds completely differently. Speakers are almost like an instrument in their own right.

I don’t hear the cabs ’cos they are in another isolated room; I hear what the mics are hearing / picking up through my studio monitors which is the same that people will hear when the songs & videos are being released.
I liked thevH creamback and the V30 the best. I think a blend of those two would be great! I plan on trying that in my Marshall 2x12 cab.

Hi there, you seem to know what you're talking about. I own a JTM45 and I love the greenback sound (1960ax) but 4x12 is just overkill for our little bandroom - it's simply too loud. Do you have a recommondation for a 2x12 cabinet? Any recommondation would be much appreciated.

@@AkademickCI’d suggest sticking to a less efficient speaker like the greenback or V-Type or any other 98db speaker. The 100db speakers are definitely louder so if noise is an issue that small volume drop might help.

Mark Lewis swears by the Creamback 65 and I agree, they sound sick.
Great video, thanks. I kind of think the Creamback is a good choice to pair with vintage 30s. The greenback has a wonderful low, like the 30s. I was thinking of getting 2 gt75s, and now I know what to get.
I loved the greenback with the 1987x boosted the most. I think blending the creamback and greenback with any of the modern amps could sound great. The creamback clean was really good. The vintage sounds good in general but I’m just burnt out on the vintage sound so I always appreciate new speaker sounds. You should try some of the Eminence speakers if you’re able to get your hands on them, I love the Governor as a v30 alternative and the Wizard is another great speaker that doesn’t get nearly enough recognition. but I would imagine Celestion is just easier to get a hold of over there.
Never a surprise, another great video. No losers in the bunch but I'm leaning Creamback.
On the Marshalls I like the GT12H 75 Watt. On the 5150 the Vintage. Cool video. 👍
Hi Euge great video and interesting insights as always. Any chance for a IR-X review? Much love.

Scooped and bright. Don't like that speaker.
I have a mix of Vintage and Creambacks in a 1960 cabs in x pattern. Sounds great. The Creambacks are new, so need to break in i think. My amp is a Diezel VH2. Also have an EVH 50 watt stealth but haven't tried it since installing the Creambacks.
H Creambacks have become my go-to speaker recently in my DSL40, because they just do everything. - if I'm playing only high-gain then I'll probably fit a Classic Lead 80/an original 1986 T-75 (the old white label with no magnet vent) - if I'm playing only clean to mid-gain i.e. 70's style rock, I'll use a Marshall Heritage, or a H30 Anniversary if I can get away with a lower power amp - if I'll be playing a mixture of both, the H Creamback is capable of sounding just as good in all situations, especially if you're thoughtful with your pedal setup and amp channels. They really can't be beaten for versatility without compromising on sounding good A quick word on the T-75s, if you do want to give them another chance, you're more likely to have a better time with one of the original white label versions that came with the '80s JCM800 cabs (pre JCM900 before they went black label and then the modern black/white), they're a lot less hairy than the modern made speakers. Saying that, an SD-1 and a 5150 probably isn't the best way to compliment a T-75, they go better with Marshalls or a Mesa Boogie Mark with the 240Hz band scooped rather than 750Hz. I boost mine with a Blues Driver and a Mesa 5-band eq pedal. Also it's nice to see Guitar Mania getting some worldwide appreciation - I'm lucky enough that they're my local guitar shop, and the team in there really know their stuff, my Marshall label Creamback came from them.
For the clean sounds I can imagine that a combi with Cream and Green can complete eachother.
For that metal tone, the v30 is the best because it enhances those high string notes
My favorite are the early G12-65 from the JCM800 era.
man greenbacks really are the greatest speaker !!
I love the sound of the Greenback, it cuts so well. But being 25W means you always need either a full 4x12 cab, or to blend it with a higher rated speaker whenever you're using a 100W head. Creambacks sound great too, though a little scooped. The Marshall Vintage, by comparison, sounds muffled, like the presence knob was dialled waaay back. I would love to see the comparison of the blends; Vintage + Greenback, Vintage + Creamback, Creamback + Greenback.
A V30 & Greenback X mix is unmatchable
Speakers change your sound much more than pickups unless your going from low output to high output .

Creambacks are the most vocal with all of the speakers. It has a very nice fidelity to it. The Greenbacks are made for Marshall. I wonder how the Greenback goes against a Creamback M 65.
Did my first swap last night. H75 + M65 + 2 x V30 X pattern
Dude, you have to try the Redbacks! I have all the speakers you have plus lots of speakers thru the years. Redback/UK V30 is incredible.
Creamback sounds like it'd be perfect in a mix, greenback might be better for a live show but debatable. Creamback wins by a lot for me.
I like Marshall's v30 for jcm , h75 for 5150, and greenies for plexi . V30 is not my cup , but marshall ones are great
Cream and Green sound good. Put the cream back in HT club 40. really quite different.
Man I got a dv77 and v30 in a 2x12 and it's brutal . I do still wanna try those greenbacks because I love the tones you are getting. Maybe do a mesa cab with 1 dv77 1 v30 1 greenback and 1 creamback. Wonder how that would sound in a 4x12 mesa cab.
Jcm + vintage; 5150 + greenback 25; Plexi + g12-h Those 4 me, sir! 🎉
Greenbacks FTW
I'm sorry you didn't test the creamback 65 watt, which sounds so much better than the 75 watt
Greenbacks for the win !
Cool beans deals🎸
My cab is loaded with 2 greenbacks and 2 eminence governor and it is the best overall tone I’ve ever had.
Guitar speakers are so important to the sound. The first speaker i ever used was the Celestion V Style wich comes inside the Marshall DSL 40 combo and sounds really bad in my opinion. I swapped it to a Vintage 30 and that amp just came to life. After that I bought a harley benton 2x12 with vintage 30s in it. It aounded a bit harsh in the high end, so i swapped one speaker to a creamback, wich made it Sound a lot better. A few months ago I also bought a laney 4x12 wich is loaded with laney custom HH speakers. It sounds absolutely increadible and definetly better than my 2x12 with celestion speakers. I think just the fact that there are more speakers already makes a huge difference, at least when hearing it in the room. Also when micing speakers I have noticed that even if you have two of the same speakers, like 2 V30s, they do sound a bit different. Maybe you can compare that in a video aswell
This is great to hear - I've never got on with V30s for my own playing, love H75 Creams for both clean and heavily driven sounds, ended up witn Greens for the mid ground classic rock tones - sounds like your levels are down in the recording for the Green - did you allow for the lower sensitivity of thge speaker?
Euge, you should try the Creamback 65. Or the Creamback 65 and 75 in a "X" pattern.
I think that cab loaded with two creambacks and two greenbacks in that cab would be real nice.
Cool comparison and very consistent playing. With all the amps except the 1987X, I think the V30 sounded the best especially for your style of playing. The 1987X sounded easily the best with the Greenback which isn't surprising at all. I didn't care for the Creamback at all. To me it always sounded nasally and seemed like it was missing something while sounding "over-produced", but sounded the best clean. By contrast, the Greenback always sounded raw and more organic. Disclaimer...I'm a huge fan of Greenback speakers. Also, I wrote this comment before listening to what you had to say about the speakers. Another speaker that maybe you should look into is the G12-65. It's sort of like a blend of the Greenback and V30.
Hey Euge. Nice choice on the CB-M75! My personal favorite so im biased. Recently, people X-Pattern V30's and CB's. Lastly, and I hate to be "that guy" but the 80s T-75's are better. Similar to the Chinese vs UK V30's argument. Love your vids as always man! \mm/ Thanks for the JCM800 tone tips :)

Creamback sounds the best to me!
I've done V30/GB combo. I'm running V30/Eminence square mag now. I'm thinking about going square mag/cream back.
My humble opinion: The Greenback sounded the most "metal," the Creamback sounded the most "classic rock" and the Marshall Vintage could do either. That's how I hear it on _this_ computer through _these_ headphones. I'm impressed with the Creambacks. I'm starting to think that a 4X12 with 2 65-watt M Creambacks and 2 75-watt H Creambacks in X formation might make a killer, well-balanced combination for heavy rock tones.
The greenbacks sound the best to me, to me sequin essential Marshall sound of rock
For Marshalls...I prefer the original Vintage (original V30 speaker). Same as for Peavey. Best tone for me!
