this enclosure setup really is so beautiful! i love the overall theme and how everything turned out in the end. I especially love the willow balls hanging in Pancakes cage it adds a nice pop of color 🌈

Wow, I never thought of layering old & new bedding like that! It looks athetically pleasing. I usually mix it all up.

I love this enclosure! It has sooo much enrichment and I'm sure your hamster is very happy! Quick question though: is there any chew toys that you recommend? I am a new hamster owner and trying to give my hammy the best life possible 😊

Thank you so much! I recommend whimzee dog chews as chew toys! However, some hamsters go a bit ham on them and eat too much, so it is important to only give it to them once a month. I also recommend walnuts and peanuts in the shell, as these are also good for foraging! Any wood chews from the pet store are also good, but if they don't chew it, I recommend putting peanut butter (made from 100% peanuts, no xylitol) on it, and they should be more likely to chew it! I buy things from Amazon, Etsy and Pets at Home! I wouldn't purchase a hamster from Pets at Home though, as it is a chain pet store!

how often should I deep clean my hamster cage? I plan on getting a syrian hamster within the next year and have been researching. I would love any tips anyone has for syrians.

It is recommended to do a deeper clean around once a month for cages above 450sq inches, where you remove all of the soiled bedding, then replace it with clean bedding! It isn't recommended to remove all of the bedding though, as this is very stressful for the hamster! Every 2-3 days, it is important to spot clean, and once a week, sift through their sand bath, as many hamsters use these as toilets!
