Nice work mate, a big improvement. I've got a similar set up on mine. You can also get this foam or bristle adhesive strips that you can around the edge of the detolf. It greatly reduces the dust that gets into the Detolf. I can't think of the name of them. I'll check and let you know. EDIT: its weather stripping for windows and doors. Adhesive insulation strips for putting around the edges of doors and windows. I got mine in 12mm width, 6mm thick with fits perfectly. Can have foam or bristles. You put it around the edges of the Detolf, so when thc doors are closed, the foam/bristle strips cover the gap left by the door.

@@TK421Collectibles yeah the gap between the door and cabinet is massive. Worth a look at the strips. The very first 1/6 scale fig I bought was a stormtrooper. One of Sideshows I think. Back then I just put him on a shelf. Got sick of dusting him so just pretended it was dust from bejng stationed on Tattooine.

Bought these today. Love them and they’re clearly well made. Trying to find an adapter of some kind to dim the lights if possible when I’m watching a movie or whatever. Got any ideas??

Ah congrats, they’re really good, no issues with mine and had them for a few years now 😀👍🏻 Unfortunately though I’m pretty sure they are not dimmable! It’s a good point though because I never considered specific dimmable ones but it’s a great idea!

Thank you!! For installation I actually started from the bottom and worked up. So all the cables go out the small hole in the top of the cabinet. And I have a 6-socket extension lead that sits on top of the detolfs for each set of cabinet lights to plug into 👍🏻

Looks nice, but when cleaning the glass shelves I’m assuming you just leave them in the case since the lights are on them.

Yeah! I just remove the figures and run the cloth over the shelf (on those rare occasions that I can be bothered to clean!! 😅)

so how did you plug these in if the plug is on the top? I agree with you about it not looking good bunched at the bottom, but what did you do to not have it bunched at the top?

So a 4 socket extension lead runs up the back of the detolfs to the top. For each detolf, the wires for each LED strip run up the cabinet and out through the top and plug into the hub on top of the detolf. The plug from the hub then goes into the extension lead. The wires in the detolf are cable tied to the frame (as out of sight as possible), the wires that feed out the top are pretty much out of sight anyway so I didn’t bother tidying them up (I should probably get round to that though!)

@@TaeKwonMoe yeah that’s right, just a four way (actually a 6 socket) extension lead that sits on top of the cabinets and plugs into the mains wall socket.

Yeah I start from the bottom and feed the wires up thru the hole in the top of the cabinet. May have been better to have the wires come out of the bottom of the cabinet but I didn’t want to have to drill a hole in the base. Plus I find having the light connection hub thing on top of the cabinet and out of the way works best for me 👍🏻😀

I can’t say for sure but they might actually work better in a billy bookcase because you can feed the wires straight through the back and hide them all there, whereas in the detolf I’ve had to run them vertically the length of the cabinet 🙂👍🏻

@@kobeosborne8947 I reckon you’ll be fine with the wire length, but yeah obviously plan it out first as you may need to measure where you’re thinking of having the connector hub and then distance to each light strip. I can’t remember how long the wires are but they definitely go the length of a detolf from the bottom glass shelf all the way up and out the top of the detolf 👍🏻

@@kobeosborne8947 each strip has a wire and at the end of the wire is a small plug. Pretty small. So you’d probably drill a small hole to begin with and if it doesn’t fit just gradually make the hole bigger 👍🏻
