Upgraded Turbo Hyundai Elantra Review! - An Unexpected Sleeper

Want these parts for your Hyundai? - www.sxthelement.com/
For this video, we hop in a car I never would have found myself reviewing years ago, but Hyundai has really gotten their act together the past few years. With a similar motor to the weird Hyundai Veloster, this has an upgraded turbo to make it one handling sleeper. Not only that, it has a ton of interior upgrades and beautiful headlights to go with it, and a four door Hyundai with coil overs. Thanks for watching and see you next video!

Gave Sbbile I agree 100% but as a previous owner of genesis coupe, they still have their flaws. But again, they are still improving. Only thing though is that their brands still have that negative connotation. Myself, depending on how the Stinger turns out, I might buy one in a few years when it depreciates like crazy. Same with another Genesis under the Genesis brand, preferably a coupe. But again, and I don’t want to get into it because it would be an essay, but they still have their flaws. Which is why they price their cars competitively which makes sense (that and again, the negative connotation towards them)

Love my 2017 Elantra Sport, even stock the car is a blast to drive. The DCT is very responsive and feels very well done, and you have to love the Audi designer's influence on the body style.
Never been a fan of the Elantra but this one in particular changes my mind and those LED's are making me fall in love with this car, really impressed.
Awesome vid!! This car is slept on by SO many. Flat bottom steering wheel STOCK, all while retaining that "more car for your money" aspect. A great little daily.
Honestly it’s stuff like this that really makes your channel, variety and quality. Keep it up follower since 14’
I love the odd/unexpected car reviews, keep it up David!
I've been waiting for someone to do something cool with on of these. I always thought the new Elantra looked really cool and aggressive, awesome car! And good job on the review David!
I had one of these (not modded out) and I loved it. Even stock it is a pretty great car.
The best thing about thid vid, is david looks like your having fun!!!!! Awsome stuff!!!
I have the same car minus the upgraded turbo and coil overs. This car reminds me how my old 2004 Saab 9-3 drove and handled. I LOVE my elantra sport.

It's weird that a Hyundai is now one of my favourite cars you've reviewed. They are really on top of their game nowadays!
I've owned my 2010 Elantra GLS for about 5+ years and it surprises me how it turns heads with all the stuff I've done to it!
I can see some of the comments now: "BuT iT's sTiLL a HyUnDAi"
Killed it yet again David! 1 million is coming soon!!👌🏻
Thanks for doing this. A lot people over look Hyundai these days.
It makes amazing sounds! I am interested in one more now!
We need more cars like this in the United States. Not a huge fan of sub 2 liter engines but with a car this light and sporty, it's a welcome exception.
I've never clicked on this video so fast. I like this!
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing engineer checking in; happy to see this!
I love you content, I've been watching you on and off for a couple years now. If I could make one suggestion, could you mention the tires the owner has on the car more often? Tires are one of the most important things that affect handling since it's the only thing that actually touched the road.
I have an 2017 Elantra Limited and I love it, just because I’m not really in a place where I can drive something fast (because I’m 18 and my insurance is insane). Everything except for the Elantra SPORT came with a 2.0L NA in-line 4, btw, the 1.6T and the manual were only available in the Elantra Sport. Great review!
I respect Hyundai now, because of their rally team and the Genesis coupe. The Veloster turbo is also great and I can't wait for the Veloster N.
So happy you did this I have the same car and was hoping this would come soon
I have a 2018 Elantra sport with the DCT. It’s a great car and a ton of fun to drive. Massive upgrade from the 2016 Elantra I had
Really nice build with roomy interior. Perfect daily
I have a Veloster turbo and love the sound and feel 😍

I average 29.0 right now and that's on sport mode all the time. I also run 89 out of it instead of 87. 15 bucks and it went from a quarter to almost full today. A world of difference from my 06 g35x that "claimed" 19 in the city. Felt more like 10 mpg lol
@sanderrambelje
3 жыл бұрын
@@BigDonKedick That's funny! I made a nearly identical switch, coming out of a high-mileage '11 G37X. Whole underbody rusted away, rack-and-pinion replacement cost me an arm and a leg, and I was getting tired of getting 16 mpg with a perfectly average driving style (topped out 22 mpg @ 70 mph on the interstate), so switched to an '18 Elantra Sport. Same driving style, now averaging 31 mpg. Short 30-60 spurts (typical highway on-ramp acceleration) honestly feel nearly as fast in the Hyundai, thanks to the max torque at 1750 rpm and much snappier DCT gearbox (downshifts on kickdown in the G37 took forever...). I feel I'm getting 80-85% of the performance for half the fuel consumption, plus saving 15% on regular vs premium! Which does add up when you're in California...
I had the 17 for a couple weeks and loved it. Went so far as getting the ECU cartridge which made it so much better. The base was good but do yourself a favor and get the ECU upgrade you'll thank me. Super fun car. I love the upgraded wheel he has here.

What kind of jump in hp does that make? I have an 18 se, 6spd. Better than putting on a turbo? Or do both? Lol
Love my Elantra! I hope to do much more to it in the future!
Stellar car :) Tastefully modded, and love how sleeper it looks!
Sounds so sick dude nice work
Hey David, fun fact for ya, I am the new owner of the turbo kit on this car that you reviewed! Glad you liked the car so much! If your ever out to Cali you should review my car!
Luckily there's various options for the exhaust, that ones a bit much IMO. I just bought a CPO 18' Elantra Sport 2 weeks ago and love it! I came out of a modded 13' Abarth and would like my ES sound wise to between stock and my old Abarth. To be honest, the stock exhaust isn't too bad on the ES!
David why aren’t you at 1 million yet? You surely deserve it

love my 17 elantra sport 6 speed ... loves the highway and turns
I love it very good my boy keep up and love video bro
This car has a full independent suspension in the rear, the old Velosters still had axel-beam rears even the turbo models...this is 1 cool great deal for the money...
This makes me wish that I would've kept my 92 Plymouth Colt with the 4g61t in it with the 1st gen DSM turbo parts on it. My grandfather bought the Colt brand new for like $6000 and it had a 4g15 1.5L 12 valve 93HP engine with a stock 4 speed manual...in a 1992. Anyway, I bought a bone stock 4g61t (89 Dodge Colt GT turbo engine 1.6L DOHC turbo little brother of the 4g63t) and the 11b turbo was seized, so I put a 14b, 440cc injectors, and a 1g DSM ECU in it with a custom jumper harness and it hauled ass. Eventually I got tired of it and put a built 4g63t in it and a 19c Frankenstein turbo on it and it was over the top fast at 16 psi. That car weighed 1800 lbs with the 4g63t in it.
I have one and it's freaking awesome. White looks really good with black tint wndows

I have this car in blue and automatic with pedal shifters. I love this car only thing when I raced a mustang the power on the top end wasn't there anymore. Need to upgrade the turbo
id love seeing the dyno sheets on this thing

It still stands out tho cuz 90% of cars here are yaris's...anyways TANGENT OVER haha i just wanna say you inspire me and just keep doing you. And good luck with the detailing buisness btw
i would opt out for the dct transmission but im really into the new elantras

I’m also a subscriber to mustang lifestyle and made a comment on their most recent video about you reviewing their 4valve swapped Gt mustang at mustang week this year
Man, I was seriously just thinking about doing this, but with the the elantra gt!
You know what I would recommend it because you and Chase on two wheels are both in Atlanta or Georgia for that matter you should link up with him cuz he has a camera car. That he'd be able to get super high professional-quality shots of the car driving. But I definitely recommend you teaming up with Chase on two wheels he can definitely improve your video quality tremendously just the tip

I literally was reading this when he said it.
I bought one of these used a few years back it had 18,000 miles on it for $13,000. It's an SE it was really clean I didn't have a ton of money to spend so it is what it is. Averages 38 MPG Depending on how much the mods cost I might start working it over. The only down side on these cars are they are tin cans. Thin steel plastic bumpers basically a throwaway car if it gets into an accident.
@plutos.memory
Жыл бұрын
I got mine in a similar way, 2018 se for 11k back in 2021. Higher than normal miles at 72k but it was from a hyundai dealership. 3 year old car at the time for 11k? I was all over it. It's a 6spd too. So fun as a daily. And yeah the fuel economy is crazy good in these things. Even when I drive aggressively I still get 32.5 mpg lol. Wish mine had a bit more power though, so considering adding stuff like you are. Also you are 100% right about the tin can thing, I could see it not doing well in an accident. But the beauty of plastic bumpers is they're easy to replace if one gets damaged.
I like the new Veloster coming out with the 2 liter but I prefer the looks of the Elantra hatchback way more than the sedan.
I literally bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra sport because of this video 😂😂 thanks btw 😁
