Upgrade your STIHL MS170 to make it faster and easier to use every day!

This one, simple, 5 minute tip/trick and modification to your STIHL MS170 will save you a lot of frustration on a daily basis! Comments and let me know if you tried it, or if you’ve got any other tips worth sharing with the community, what better place to share them than right here on this video.
I’d love to make a new video featuring your tip, trick or hack, and even name drop you or include you in the video!
Also, comment and let me know what kind of music you listen to while you’re working! What gets you pumped or focused?
I have an album on Apple Music where I add EVERY song I’ve ever liked since the beginning of time, and I either play that album on shuffle, or I listen to Audible! I love the idea of reading but I never have time to sit and read, so I buy books on audible that honestly teach me a lot of things that I wouldn’t learn in my every day life. No I don’t get paid by Apple or Audible, but I do like using both of them and I wear over ear headphones instead of AirPods!
What about you??
My new website should be up and running shortly, but maybe by the time a few people view this video, I’ll have it set up, so just in case, here’s the link!

didn't know that could be done, yeah using the combo wrench is a pain, I've been using a standard screwdriver, but this way sure seems better.

Video. The smallest saw i have is a ms250. Im well satisfied with it for smaller firewood. Ive thought about switching it to a rim sprocket and doin a muffler mod,but ive still got a little time left on my warranty

I use the 170 for training saws for new employees for cutting the smaller limbs up, but it’s also a great saw for doing detail work on chainsaw carvings!

@@BobbyMoreheadDotCom 170 is a great little saw. All I do is my firewood, burning about 4 cord a year. I use an old ms310 and ms441c for the bigger stuff, but I love how light my ms250. Much easier on an old mans back.

The earlier model of Stihl had the adjuster in the front.. i believe most of the MS### models have the side adjuster.

Most of them do, but the MS170 still has it on the front.. With this mod, it can be moved to the side

Nice! My fiancé loves Jazz.. We actually went to New Orleans last year and believe it or not, we tried to find a local bar/lounge that was playing Jazz and we couldn’t find one! Super disappointing, but jazz is a great choice of music to listen to while working!

the MS170 is a cheap saw, there are so many things on it to save money ... tiny little bits of money, no mixture screws on the carby, no adjustment on the oiler, most of the parts that are alloy on other saws are plastic ... they did not even make it's own side cover, that side chain cover fits several other saws ..... some have side chain adjust ......i'm surpized they didn't leave one screw out to hold the bar on ..... . the front adjuster has less parts then the normal side adjuster

Absolutely.. My favorite one is the plastic dogs! I mean, they could have just left them off completely vs using plastic, lol.. Hopefully this tip helps those who own a 170 and want to put a little bit of cash into it to make it more efficient.

@@BobbyMoreheadDotCom some of the little things are cheap and easy to do after market, like the chain adjuster and the bucking spikes. Sthil have done a realy good job of gettig a, quite satisfactory, name brand saw, with good parts ( both genuine and after market) and dealer support in for the price. $200US or $300AU, $300 CA, 200UK. AND that is full retail, less if there is a deal on. I have one that I baught for $100AU used a few weeks ago, It does not stand up to my better, bigger Sthil saws, , but it is way better than buying cheap the unsupported crap that is around. And it seems easy enough to work on
