    Really impressed with the difference the blackwash made to the definition of the ballast there George. I'm definitely picking up on using arial shots to identify where wear wears. As there were no drones in IWCR days, I'm going to be studying a LOT of old monochrome photos!

    It really does give a new angle (literally) to view the area from. Things look different from the ground, so the drone just supports the build.

    Nice tutorial video. This will certainly help me when I build my model railway. Also, just a note, when I was little I built a small railway for me to run trains on, but didn't do the ballast very well. Was was a small piece left in the points when it was glued down, so running trains over it became a coin toss. My dad called it Devils Points lol

    Yes that is the worry, but it’s just a case of spending time slowly removing any ballast stuck in the way. I use my pointy tool thing to flick them away from where they’re stuck

    I absolutely adore the name “devils points” You should put that in a area for a derailment risk lol.

    I suspect the reason for the darker track on the approach to the station is because of engines leaving the station with cylinder drains open, you get a bit of oil out of those and it will slowly build up to become noticeable. Great video, I love the look of the leaves, very effective and absolutely what I remember!👍

    Great video, like you say ballasting is very subjective but I love the way you have captured the damp feel of autumn, always nice to see something other than summer being modelled! All the best, Geoff

    Those leaves really bring the look to life ! One tip I found when cleaning 009 after applying scenic glue....is to use a small piece of track rubber angled to clean the inside edge of the rails, as the flange contact (just at the top edge) is often the main area of pick up it seems. ...as opposed to just cleaning the top face alone. Cheers.

  • @GWilliamsonModels

    @GWilliamsonModels

    Hey, yes I’ve actually started doing that. The track rubber starts to gain a rail shaped indent, so it starts to hit the rail top sides aswell

    Hiya George! Hope you doing well! I've got to say I'm intrested to see how the fall setting turns out on the whole thing as here it looks rather promising! I'm also curious well you be using Alec's new body shell for Talyllyn? I'm going to be once it's finished to replace my current one.
