Aaron… I have been watching your channel for a while now. I must say, you kind of demystified Korean cuisine for me… my kids love it, I love it… and Claire is just great with her tasting bit.. good that you are there… great channel you have created there. Keep it up guys
Thank you for saying that people shouldn't follow your timing on cooking the food You are the first person I have heard saying that, because I tell people that all the time What a lot of people don't realise is, that no 2 stoves, cooking utensils and products are the same So using your own time to figure out if it looks and taste of the food is to one's liking Is all up to the cheff

That's right!! Every people has a different cooking environment!! 😎
I have to say, one thing I like about these videos is that when it comes to big bites, Claire doesn't mess around!
Finally made this with some left over pulled pork. Holy smokes, the hype is real. Immediately sat down to it over a bowl of rice. MAKE THIS GOCHUJANG.
Claire's comment at the end, that the bread with the sauce is a bit like bread with spicy bolognese sauce left me wondering, if you could actually make a lasagna with it. That probably would be an interesting italian-korean fusion food. I think I will give it a try once I have made this special Gochujang.

I made this today and I used it to top steamed rice and a fried egg (and green onions!) and it was delicious! I usually use crispy chili oil for my egg, rice and veggie breakfast bowls but this is an awesome addition to my fridge. Thanks for the recipe!

Same! It's very good in meaty sauce-like things! Gochujang is my 'secret' ingredient when I make turkey chili. It gives it all such warmth and flavor!
Just found a small pack of beef mince in the freezer and had no idea what I was going to do with it. I think we have a winner here.
This is my new favorite channel for cooking haha, I love Korean style cuisine, it matches my palette so much.
As always a pleasure and entertaining to watch your videos , your explaining and the way you break down simple parts of the recipe down is second to no one and makes it a non stressful situation before you even start to copy your meals . Glad to see your succeeding on you tube , you only had a couple followers when I watch your first video now you have a 1m 🎉
I been making ground beef gochujang for years. here is my recipe. serves 6. 1 spring onion, 1 quarter onion, 1 tablespoon soybean paste, 2 huge tablespoons of gochujang, ground beef, 4 tablespoons of sugar. 4 tablespoons of corn syrup. 3 tablespoons of soy sauce. 1 tablespoon of anchovy sauce. 7 tablespoons of tomato sauce. 2 tablespoons of rapeseed oil, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. 1 cube of frozen garlic, 1 cube of frozen ginger. 1 tablespoon of chicken powder, 1 tablespoon of black garlic vinegar. and a full kettle of boiling water. mix all the ingredients in, then add boiling water, bring to the boil then simmer for 25 mins. you can add either noodles or teokk to the soup. and as much mature cheddar cheese as you dare.

It works both way, you can use Gochujang to enhance a similar base sauce like I did and with pasta it was pretty awesome
Tried it today. It’s amazing!
Will definitely try this.
Your cookbook is awesome. We had the korean seafood pancake for dinner last night. Thanks for everything you do.
I've been watching your videos for a week or so now. Came across you on KZread when searching a hack on homemade tteokbokki. BUT got hooked on your videos. I love how you always give other opinions or say it's okay you don't need this etc. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with a recipe if I don't have something but you make it feel okay lol. I have had to screen shot and hunt for things you use bc I'm in the US with little Korean / Asian market options. But also you crack in some jokes and laughs when talking too. 😅
I'm going to do this with some gochujang, for sure. But I just have to say, that's the slickest segue into an ad for Surfshark I've ever seen, and probably the best one Aaron's done yet.
I met up with a few friends to make the Fried Chicken with a spicy Gochujang sauce, the one from your cooking book! First time we ever tried Gochujang! We had great fun and it was delicious. Now I will definitely try to upgrade Gochujang even further! :)
Made this today and it is amazing! Great instructions and such an amazing next level gochujang! Thank you so much!
This looks so much better than the gochu plus soy and a little honey we usually do for our bipimbap! I'll have to try this soon. I received your cookbook recently too and I'm super excited to add it to my kitchen. It's such a wealth of information from what I've read of it.

I love your videos Aaron and Claire..I’ve recently started learning Korean ( just to help my memory) . So I think this is why your videos pop up on my feed. I’m on a keto , low carb type of diet..and eat cauliflower rice..so think I will definitely try this sauce..as you don’t seem to need much to make the ‘rice’ more palatable..just a question..is the sauce eaten cold from the fridge? …thank you both

Everybody has a different level of tolerance for spicy food, so it depends. But generally, gochujang is not extremely spicy and has a nice smokey umami flavor. And since we added more water and other ingredients, this would be milder! 😁

@@AaronandClaire thank you, I’ll try this option.
I don't think I can handle gochujang 😅 I've had it before but the level of spiciness is just too overwhelming for me that I'd choke. I can only handle Tabasco sauce which is really sad. 😭 I love the nutty flavor of gochujang, it's the spiciness that I can't handle.
@FlailTV
Жыл бұрын
Spice tolerance is something you can train, if you're interested. You just have to eat food that's at the sort of higher end of your comfortable tolerance (so...not so spicy it's uncomfortable to eat, but at the higher end of what IS comfortable, if that makes sense) a bit more often, until suddenly it doesn't taste as spicy as it used to, and then you can move to slightly spicier food and eat that until it doesn't taste as spicy as it used to, and just repeat that until you can comfortably enjoy gochujang (or whatever the goal is) without feeling like it's too hot for you.
How did you know i had gochujang sitting in the back of my fridge? 😂
