Upgrade to Windows 11 23H2 from Windows 10 on Unsupported hardware
Ғылым және технология
In this video, I will explain how to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2, starting from an existing Windows 10 Home or Pro on unsupported hardware. Using this method, you can directly upgrade your current Windows 10 installation, while keeping all applications and data, to the latest Windows 11 version: 23H2. In the video, I will be performing the upgrade on a PC which does not have a supported CPU, no TPM nor secure boot.
You can find a detailed explanation on my blog as well: jensd.be/2070/windows/upgrade...

This is by far the most simplest and effiecient win10 to win11 upgrade video for a non supported pc I have seen so far. Keep up the good work man.
Thank you for everything. I upgraded easily first on 21h2, then 22h2 now 23h2:) You're a life saver. Have a nice day!

The method was flawless! Now if the 64-bit requirement could be removed for all of us who have 32-bit systems would be Outstanding!!!

Everything newer than a Pentium 4 should support 64 bit but if you have a 32 bit OS installed you indeed can't upgrade. I don't expect this to ever be an option though
Thank you so much! This worked like a charm with no issues. Must come to you for more tips!🔥🙏
Thank you for this. Worked almost exactly as described in the video. Finally, the "you are stuck at 10" message in Windows Update is gone. Everything working perfectly including updates.

So I decided to download the Windows 11 23h2 pro version from Microsoft and install it on my 12 year old Acer Aspire 5750G laptop. All went smoothly, and it's not showing signs of problems 😀. I bypassed Microsofts compatability checker to allow the installation process. It has also been activated with Microsoft 😀. Not bad for a 12 year old laptop which specs are, Acer Aspire 5750G running i5-2450M 2.5GHz with turbo boost to 3.1GHz, 750GB HHD, 8GB DDR3 memory, it's nothing special by today's standards but when I bought it 12 years ago it was of good specification and it wasn't cheap!!
I tried just now and the link did work, yesterday the third option to download Windows 11 caused an error, it was from Microsoft. Thank you!
Thanks so much bro
Thank you very much. Coincidentally my PC is the same as yours - Dell Optiplex 9020.

GTX1650 is almost always the way to go for these kind of PCs. No need for external power and available in low profile. And even more important, still pretty decent for full-HD gaming. Good luck with the upgrade.

Appreciate the informative video. I have one computer like the one in your video running win 10 home. I"ve read that the end of security updates for win 10 will be in 2025. AS of now I don't use this computer much so I thought I'd wait. I've seen other videos about using rufus and a downloaded iso file could do the same upgrade as well as save all apps and files. What I like about your video is that you deleted that code in the sources folder without using rufus. Is that doing more easily what that rufus app does?
Damn you d real G man
Bookmarked, hope it will work.
IF YOU NOTICE AT 0:25 on the top your pc is 9020 and mine is same too but with i7 procceser
I launched Windows 11 in 2 old laptops: Toshiba Satellite P755 with intel 2nd gen and LG Gram with 7th Gen intel core. So far so good. Still worries exist for future updates.

Since the beginning of Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, updates come in just as on supported hardware. The only exception is major releases (22H2, 23H2,...) where additional action is needed.
GOD BLESS YOU❤❤❤❤
While copying files "Invalid MS-DOS function" prompt appears.
Does the second scenario is applicable for upgrading from 10 to 11 on bootcamp (mac computer)?

Hello. Regarding the updates part on the last portion of the video, does it also apply to major updates like going from the current 23H2 to the upcoming 24H2? Thanks.
@jensdbe
3 ай бұрын
Most likely for a major update, another kind of workaround will be required. This was also the case for 22H2 and 23H2 so far. I'll be following up on that :)
Thank you so much for this easy-to-understand instructions! I have 5 pc's, all too old either because of CPU or missing TPM, all was with 21H2. 3 of them is now updated to 23H2 ;) But the last 2 of them denies doing the update, saying some danish like "we cant see if your pc is ready for the installation". Could it be because of lack of RAM? One is 4GB, the other 6GB. Any ideas?

That should be enough. I know that you get that message if the file (appraiserres.dll) is missing completely instead of empty.

I used exactly the same files on all machines, i double checked that the file is present, and with no contents. The 2 machines failing is a desktop Lenovo 6258W7Y and a laptop Asus UX430.
Thank you for this video. If I use this method to upgrade from W10Pro to W11Pro, will the programs that I had installed in W10Pro still be functional or do they need to be re-installed?
How long does it take to install? Because i was stuck at 1% for 10 min and i cancelled it thinkinng something went wrong
I performed this upgrade today and all seems like it went ok. Deleting the contents of the .dll file don't make the physical aspects go away, it simply deletes the barrier to installing Windows 11. Longer term I wonder what the effects of these physical attributes will be?

I'm running Windows 11 on unsupported hardware for years now, and with me thousands of others as well, without any issues so far.
Well I tried, twice. But I get an error and it rolls back to Windows 10 right at the end. The error is "0x8007001F - 0x3000D The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation". So I am stuck in Windows 10 for now. The machine is a Lenovo Thinkcentre M Series. I hope you might have a further suggestion.

Hellooo..i got a question because it went error and shows a message telling that it was banned in that country or time frame
Does anyone tried this methode with AMD A9 9420 Prosessor? Would it run that smooth in this processor? 😅
But it does like to take its time started at like 12:30 am it’s now 2:09 am in the morning
For some reason it says we can't tell if u have enough storage but I have enough
I have just tried twice installing via this method on my Wife's Acer Predator, it failed on both occasions at about 23% :(.
Does it work with a Dell Optiplex 3050 SFF with a Core I5-6500, 2 8GB sticks of DDR4 2133 MHz RAM, and a NVMe SSD without any issues? Do you need to download and drivers for it?
@jensdbe
2 ай бұрын
Should work fine. If you are upgrading from Windows 10, there is no need to pay special attention to drivers normally. In case you do a fresh install, 99% of the cases, all required drivers will come in through Windows Update to my experience.
Did wot u said. from win 10 pro us to win 11 pro us. starts installing till 31% then the whole process simply vanishes - I had task manager open (after several tries) doesn't even restart once just process is killed. I removed all unnecessary USB & stuff.any thoughts?
For me it blue screened on while booting, when i booted back to windows 10 i got this error: The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation. error code: 0x1900101 - 0x20017
is my all drives and data would remain same as before after the installation when i go for the option keep my personal files and apps?
@jensdbe

That should be the case yes. Nevertheless it is always a good idea to have a proper backup when doing something like this.

Hello, how much disk space does windows take after the upgrade? Could upgrading break any programs i have installed? What if there are no existing drivers for my APU that are exclusively designed for Windows 11?
@jensdbe
2 ай бұрын
Not sure about the disk space, I didn't really pay attention and I think it also depends on the starting point (which updates are already installed, etc). Most, if not all, Windows 10 drivers work fine for Windows 11 so the chance you run into this is veyr small.
