I saved your videos in my library when I did my last update. I just had to do another update on my module firmware so I revisited this video. Went smooth as silk and everything is up to date. Can't say enough how much these videos help me out. 5 STARS 2 THUMBS UP!!!!

Followed your video to update to firmware 1.1.4 with a good lead and now updated internal module to 2.2.1.Next step update FW to latest 1.2 . Your videos and comments are really well received (for a 70 yr old !!)

I’m glad they help Keith. Once you’re on 1.2, things will get much easier. I doubt I’ll need to make many more ETHOS update videos if I’m honest.

To be honest, at the moment I'm favouring OpenTX for my FPV planes. ETHOS is definitely improving, and the X20 is great. But there are still some things not quite there yet. I'm glad to hear you've got your plane ready and good luck with the maiden.

@@MrD thanks my brother.. open tx is amazing.. I'm having trouble. Couldn't get the caddex Vista to work with mateck board. I hooked up like you said. Flashed right firmware? So decided to use as Just FPV camera. But I can't record? Vista doesn't Know when armed?? So trying to figure out why? No videos on? 411wse FC I have. Been a battle with that FC wish just had one more UART... I'm not the Best at computer.. I'm old lol god bless and have a great Day. I mentioned station in my video. hello Darren Congrats by your videos, always they are super precise and simple to understand. I have a problem, I have followed your instruction to make it work the RF ISRM module of my Horus X10S EXPRESS, ( last firmware abailable from the frsky horus express page ) when I try the flash., The bar of the radio screen dont start to run, always 0% after many seconds waiting the little window of the screen says THE DEVICE DONT RESPOND ) and then appears the EMMERGENCY MODE. Same thing in the ethos suite, it say , dont detect the module. Always the same in every atempt. Please could you help?

where can I find a video or learn how to install ethos on a 12s horus? The 12s has open tx now

Hi Darren, as always, outstanding videos! got a question for you. For an ISRM updated X10 on Ethos, the process would be quite similar, right? upon the proper update from the FrSky site, will my X10 be able to handle Archer recievers? I need it to handle an R10-PRO and a slave R8 PRO. Thank you so much!

If your X10 now has the ISRM, you’d just use the ISRM firmware from the FrSky site, rather than the XJT firmware. It looks like you’ll need to go to the X10 Express download page to get it. The ISRM module should be able to work with Archer when you install it. The update will just get everything up to the latest version. Which could have extra features for newer Archer/Plus receivers.

I have an unrelated question. Is the end user able to "physically" move the switches from one location to another ?

To be honest, I’ve not stripped down my X20 far enough to see. In the past (Taranis and Horus) the switches have been on cables. If that’s still the case, I can’t see a problem.

That external module bay on that Darren,will the Tbs crossfire go into it?

There is a Crossfire lite module that will fit. It may be possible to make an adaptor for the full size or regular JR module. But, Crossfire isn’t supported yet by ETHOS.

After updating the Ethos firmware I want to update the firmware of the x 20 tandem td module. In the videos present the new firmware is pasted in the FIRMAWARE folder on the sd. In my sd there are only 3 folders and there is no FIRMAWARE and related sub-folders. Do you think I can manually create folder and sub-folder and paste the new firmware?

Yes, just create the Firmware folder, and any folders inside it if you like to be organised.

I finally did break down and buy a X20S. Do you think there is a way to flash ELRS to the R9 portion of the Tandem module? As I understand it, any R9 module should be able to operate ELRS. I'd probably not do this, but if I could get away with not having a weird adapter for my old JR-style ELRS module it might make sense. I might start testing the Tandem receivers, too, though. That might dissuade me from trying something weird like this. Lol

No, you can’t flash the internal module with ELRS. To be honest, I don’t see much point in flashing ACCESS R9 with ELRS. R9 is less hassle to set up (no FTDI needed), is fairly comparable with latency and consistency, and has more range than most people will get close to the edge of. Especially for fixed wing. If you’re racing quads, it’s a different story. But then 2.4 would be a better option anyway.

@@MrD right. That is in optimal conditions without lots of overhead power lines, hills, trees, and rf noise. I am in an area with a lot of that stuff. My 915mhz 1W system is good for 20+/- miles (32 kilometers.). I'm open to trying R9.

@cw I don’t know the noise environments for those flights. I just know that they were on all stock equipment. The main one is on the TANDEM radios, to use an external antenna. On one of the 100km (62 miles) journeys, the stock FrSKY Zipp9 was used. I’m sure that antennas like a VAS ShapeShifter or TrueRC Moxon would be as good if not better. If you want to use ELRS, that’s fine. But I was just thinking if R9 will do what you want. Then there’s no need for external modules. LoRa is what really helps with the noisy environments. R9 is using LoRa.

I have logical switch videos for OpenTX. Most of the features work in the same way or are renamed slightly. At the moment, the mixes are still being changed every so often. Is there anything in particular you were thinking about? As a lot of the mixes also are made for specific tasks.

I’d imagine the fuel pump would be a basic free mix. Flaperons may have a dedicated mixer, or use a free mix on the ailerons channel. For landing gear, basic gear could again use a free mix. But I’ve seen issues raised on the ETHOS GitHub asking for a gear sequencer. So there could be something to look out for in the future.

@@MrD I'm sorry, I am still struggling. I managed to get the pump working with the on/off switch, but I'm not sure that my curve is being applied to the output. I have a functional switch successfully turning the pump off and on, but I need it to go from 50% and idle to 100% at full throttle. I am having difficulty linking the two mixes. I can't tell if it's working properly or not. Would connecting a servo to the channel tell me if it's working properly or not? Thanks!

Yes, if you connect a servo to the output, it will give you a nice, visual representation of what is happening.

i just did the most recent firmware update on mine and noticed the storage version is missing in the info area ....why is it gone ...is it something to be worried about ?

Not as far as I’m aware. You can subscribe to the GitHub repository. Then you should get notifications about when ETHOS is updated. But not the RF or receiver firmware, as far as I know. It’s something I can ask about.
