Our home will be paid off in 3 months. We have a 1100 square foot 2 bedroom on 1 acre of land with a pretty big garden. We worked hard, lived frugally, and paid it off in 15 years. Gonna be nice to be debt free

Your house is lovely! I live on my sister’s property (43 acres) I take up about an acre and a half with my 12 x 28 tiny house (debt free) and yard space. I pay her 200.00 to park my house here. My view is beautiful! It is just me my cat and my dog. I couldn’t be happier. I love living tiny.

In 1984, we bought a bungalow, 800 sq ft. I loved it. After the birth of our first son, my husband said no more kids till we get a bigger house so we got a bigger house and that was the beginning of the end. We should've just kept the bungalow.

So true! We had a two bedroom little house, all redone-and I liked it. I ended up pregnant again, so we had to get a larger house. Now, my kids argue w each other over who should have been born or not🤯-they all think they are the “favorite” child.

i once lived in a place that was a living room kitchen open situation like yours and a bathroom and no bedroom , and it was myself and my two children . our couch made out into a bed . we had a card table an chairs that we used as a dining set . i had a dresser in the living room another chair , and a metal closet situation by the bathroom door arranged somewhat like a room divider between the kitchen an living room part of the room . the place had three windows total , one in the living room area , a tiny one in the bathroom and one in the door you walked into to get in the place . there was no back door , no washer and dryer either . today i’m sixty eight years old and my children are both in their forties and they both tell me living in this tiny place with me was one of the greatest happiest times of their childhood !

I love it! Not having a huge mortgage, or to have to live in an apartment, wasting money is very smart. You are so fortunate to have that beautiful land to garden, have chickens and your kiddies and to be a stay at home mom! Having your parents nearby is a blessing and very good for your children. Don't buy a big house, just add on to your sweet home when you are ready. You have a great life! I sold my house, bought a 4,200 sq ft house for myself, a senior, and my son, DIL and my two grandkids. I live in he basement walkout and they live in the rest. I LOVE my little "apartment". One bedroom, one bathroom, living room, kitchen. It only had a bar sink and counter, so I put up shelves and bought cooking devices of every type. I made everything fit.

That space looked lovely! I have limited mobility thanks to arthritis and a stroke. My husband is about to retire from working on a research ag facility. I spent years teaching, scout leading, newspaper reporting, etc., but now I crochet and play at being grandma. We have been married almost 50 years but we turned over most of our bigger items to the kids. We would love to live in a space only slightly bigger than this to allow for our needs, but more could pose more work for 2 older folks with limited mobility and resources. Space outside for gardening and for grandkids to play is all we need for space and a storage area for a select collection of yarn for my crochet habit would keep me happy. We don’t want to put lots of money in a home at this point, just basic comfort and needs.

Hi. I love your home. I'm 65 y/o, and I pray that one day I can buy a tiny house. I'm disabled, have arthritis and I'm in constant pain. I live in Denver Colorado, in a one bedroom apartment, and it's very hard for me because theres nothing for me in downtown. The city is loud dangerous, and I'm depressed most of the time. I pray to be able to find a tiny house that I can pay in payments without getting a loan. I cried when I saw your video, God bless you and your husband, I'm not giving up, I still dream of having a tiny yard to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. I'm sorry, for going on, take care.

This a great way to live debt free. When you get your own land and build your forever home, perhaps you can design everything so you have another tiny home that can bring in an income and then as your children are transitioning to leave they can use it. Eventually, you can move into it at retirement and rent out the big house for income. I know a lot of people want their privacy, but how you design the property layout and landscaping can still allow privacy. It’s always good to have multiple streams of income. Nice job decorating!

Finding ways to save space and storage are always a work in progress around here. But I always say that we don't have a lot of money but what we do have is a lot of love. Our grandsons are still young and they have everything that their school friends have minus a huge beautiful home lol. But anyhoo....I was wondering....did I miss where you are keeping your clothes? I love your home and outdoor areas! I loved my 300 sq ft barn/ shed done as a studio. I lived in it for a few years, almost 4 years, after my husband died. It was on my daughters property, 3 acres & I LOVED it!!! Like I said, it was 300 sq ft, and I did it like a studio. Rugs and😮 draped "curtains" were used to help define the "rooms." My daughter and teenage granddaughters loved to show it off to their friends. I moved for a new love, and as soon as he retires in a year, we will be traveling full-time in our RV. If we find some land that just grabs us, we'll buy it & go tiny/little, probably 400 to 450 square feet. Again, you did a fantastic job on your home. God bless you and your family.

Beautiful home!! You did a great job designing it! I could do tiny . Average price of a home around 1800 sq feet is $400,000! So smart to live debt free.

I'm actually in the research stage of Tiny living. I want to go tiny, but I'm doing my research. I'm taking notes from everyone else about do and don't, etc. I don't want to dive in unprepared. I've been downsizing and replacing. Measuring she's and furniture and built in stuff. I'm a big planner. And I like to have plans for failed plans. But, I'm saving money slowly and I'll get there.

We kinda just jumped in. Lol. Although I had been watching tiny home inspiration videos on KZread for 5 years beforehand. I think for my personality I have to jump in feet first and learn to swim as I go. Downsizing was the hardest part of this transition so it's good to purge as much as you can ahead of time. I would definitely encourage anyone to give tiny living a try if you want to. ☺️ Good luck on your journey!

You did an Amazing Job! Your home is very Lovely. And quite spacious looking for the number of square footage. I went Tiny in 2022. Downsizing from a 3 bedroom house that was almost 1400 square feet to just under 500 now. I still have a few things to complete but I'm very happy with my space.

That's fantastic! We downsized from almost 1300 to 900 Sq Ft then into the tiny house. It's been a process to get to this point but I know I'd do it all over again. ☺️

My husband and I live in 320 square feet. It’s a garage apt behind his 95 year old mom and it is the size of two parking spaces. No washer or dryer. I chose to do this to help her when she was 89 and her husband died. She may outlive us but that is okay. What I would like to do is rearrange furniture again and our king size bed has to be crawled in from the bottom.

It's adorable, I would live there, and yes, I am debt free, including my home. I wouldn't trade the feeling of freedom for a larger sized home or greater possessions. We intentionally bought what is a small home for our neighborhood, which is 1650 sq feet. We wanted to be able to pay it off quickly, and since I suffer from chronic pain and fatigue, we also wanted something that was easily manageable.
