Thank you so much! Curious - because I’m so bad with math - how did you come up with the 100%? Hope that doesn’t sound silly

Hi there! Question: I’m using the same jar 18oz, apricot wax…how do you determine the wick size of double 4” vs 5” wick? I’ve been using double 5” and it gives a fmp within 4ish hours which is great, but flame seems a bit big with soot and blackening on jar. I tried double 4” but I couldn’t reach fmp after burning it for 6hr! 🧐 Any other advice on determining the wick size?

Hey hey! I follow the wicking guide charts from wherever I source my wicks from and go from there. What percentage FO are you using? Have you tried wicking down and testing a double 3"?

Hi! Question, when you weigh the wax on scale, will it be the same once it's melted down? So if I did want to make 3 candles, weigh out 798 g of wax on a scale?

Hi! Yes, the wax in a solid or liquid state will both weigh the same. However, 16 fl ounces (like a pint or 2 cups) is not the same as 16 weighed ounces. Fluid ounces are a volume measurement. Chandlers use weight. To find the wax weight for a container, place it on your scale and Tare to zero, then fill with wax to the desired level. Also, yes if you wanted to make 3 candles you would just multiply the number of wax + fragrance oil of 1 candle times however many you are wanting to make. If you are using the same jars as me you can absolutely test that same formula of 798g of wax.

Hi! When I pour my candles, the amount keeps being incorrect lol. For your 1st candle example, I am using the same calculations as you. So when I am pouring the candle after adding the FO, should I pour in 295g or 266g of wax?

Hi! 295g should be your total grams for wax and fragrance oil! 266g is for just for wax and 29g is for your fragrance oil. Try and watch the video again but step by step it walks you through it perfectly! I do not pour FO until after I have poured wax. Also make sure you are using the same exact jars, and always double check measurements for yourself because we all pour at different pour lines, use different waxes and use different FO %s.

There are variations with the formula as it depends on the type of wax you are using. I tried the formula and kept coming up short or over. I just melted some wax and filled the jar to the fill line. This is the best formula that worked for me. When you do this, you know what your jar will hold. Now this does not take into account the fragrance oil added. Let's say you melted wax, and you know your jar will hold 16 oz if wax and you want to add 10% of FO. 10% of 16oz is 1.60oz, subtract that amount from 16 and you have 14.40oz. you will need 14.40 oz of wax combined with 1.60 of FO to fill your jar. I hope this helps this is what worked for me.

Sorry bestie! Basically, I was extra and chose 10.4oz as my fill line (net weight) but you could totally round to the nearest whole # and still be just fine. I also convert everything to grams and seeing 10.4 will now be 295g. Making this formula much easier!
