My main issue with mlm is that a lot of people don't seem to understand the timers and they always seem to mine a spot that hasn't been mined but doesn't realize that if everyone mined their own spot then the entire upper area would always be depleted, but yeah super impressed with your guide 10/10

i watched this video and its good quality, I wanted to share my discovery. maybe it is good maybe not. at the triple iron ore spawn in the mining guild that you stand at, i discovered you can click on one rock then on the next rock in the following tick and it instantly mines the rock. the rock spawns back fast here like you said so i constantly farm the two rocks and get 70k an hour doing this. idk if it is good or if people know it, but it is my preferred way to mine now. i try to explain better. ( click the north spawn rock, then the east rock, then the north rock, then the west rock and constantly repeat until full inventory.)

Damn dude. I got 1-99 mining before I finished the video

I found that in the mining guild it's more efficient to only mine 2 rocks rather than 3. The time it take to turn to the middle actually slows you down and you can just switch between 2 rocks faster and they will regenerate quick enough that you are never waiting. I checked with xp rates and I was slightly better just alternating between 2 rocks.

Does the prospector set bonus work if I remove the plate and wear Varrock Platebody 3?

one thing that I'm trying to understand is if 3 ticking iron is faster than doing the drop between swing methods. I don't think you mention the difference between them, just that 3 ticking is possible

The only very minor thing i think this guide lacks, is putting focus on dwarven stout usage at lower levels to improve the success rate when a mining tick comes trough. I did a few tests, yes bronze pickaxe is the slowest. But i cannot fail a chance mine roll anymore at lv 45+ basically. Ergo, low level players or players that are in crowded spots with ore (f2p for example) can benefit from such a boost. The higher the level, the better the chance to snag an ore. ALSO, tryhard miners that can use or are 3-2 and 1 levels away from the dragon pickaxe, can also then utilize the dwarven stout and the dragon pickaxe (61 attack to use) special to maintain the 3 level bonus for extended periods of time. I only used the special attack and it got me up to speed fast, but the drinks are ultra cheap to extend it way further so if you ever remake this guide then please hit this up because it's cheap, easy, and save players levels and time with very little work when getting close to the dragon pickaxe. Solid guide man, really good. Cheers.

This is an insanely helpful guide, thank you so much for making this!! I just started playing OSRS (switched over finally from RS3) and wanted to enjoy the skill again. I did come across a few players in the SE Varrock mine going after iron without dropping the ores or banking.. does anyone know how or what they were doing?

Power-leveling. The value of iron is so cheap in terms of GP, the value of the literal time you save by dropping the item and not banking it is worth more since you'll gain more experience points if you just drop it and resume mining.

Awesome guide as always, was wondering though regarding the platebody at 5:01, does that mean I get 2x xp when I get 2 ores, because if not then it's not really worth it xp-wise

what would u recommend for an ironman that wants to max efficiently? meaning ill want and need the mats for 99 smithing efficiently as well. u think i should do mlm the whole way or do 3t4g and then buy the ore from shops or what?

I haven't really looked into ironman a whole lot, which I definitely should for future videos so thanks for reminding me of that. Crystalmathlabs shows 3t4g even for iron men for 45-99 so I'm guessing that is probably the best method if you're going for max.

Great video man. I didnt need to watch it to the end but I did so you get max revenue for the watch just because the quality was so good.

Blast mining. It take about 2 hours and 45 minutes for full sack. You can make 2.2 mill gp in that time and anywhere between 145k-190k exp Its one of my favorite things to do.

99% of the ores are 1 click per ore (exception being gloves and armor that adds ores or resets them at a low rate) except mlm or stuff like volcanic ash that is below 5exp each or so. So nothing worth doing unless you want to spend thousands of hours mining trash.

The rates are on the wiki: Rune pickaxe mines every 3 ticks (1.8s) Dragon mines every 3 ticks (1.8s) with 1/6 chance of a 2 tick mine (1.2s) Crystal pickaxe mines every 3 ticks (1.8s) with a 1/3 chance of a 2 tick on mine (1.2s)

Is there any point in 3 tick mining when using a rune+ pickaxe? If the mining cycle for rune is ~1.7s, then 3 ticks is actually slower than that cycle at 1.8s. How is 3 tick mining beneficial here?

Well you have to walk, 3 tick mining skips the walking.

You said upgrading the sack for mlm was the 2nd most important unlock? why is that? it just increases capacity and nothing else. I dont see how that makes a difference because youll have to make the same amount of trips regardless?

The upper floor is the best, the other three options that increase mlm exp/hr are prospector, coal bag, and the increased sack. Perhaps I should have tested this before stating it in the video but I believe the increased sack gives a better boost to mining than the coal bag or prospector. Prospectors bonus is very small. The coal bag can be good when you're low mining for decreasing trips between the sack and the bank and could be better than the sack. The reason the sack helps increase exp/hr is because it goes from having to bank every 4 trips to banking every 7 trips. This can also decrease the amount of times you have to fix water mills so more time mining instead of running around. It makes it more afk as the most click intensive part of mlm is banking. Also you don't have to pay attention to how much ore you're depositing as often. It is a small boost but I think the second best.

u forgot a knife and teak log. i much prefer knife and teak log for early ironman so u don't have to go collect 15 swamp tar if u mess up, cuz usually u have a ton of extra teak logs from wt

I'm in MLM 2nd floor right now and I dont think it's time based for every spot. I have gotten 1 pay-dirt and have depleted the ore multiple times.

The timer starts after any player mines 1 ore from the vein, and it won't deplete until someone mines the last ore. So if you mine 1 ore and wait the time limit, you'll still need to mine that 1 more ore to deplete it. That's what's happening there

Why crystal pick for amethyst, surely as it has a slightly increased chance to make mining an ore 1tic faster it would have a greater impact on ores you mine quickly without tic manipulation like iron or mlm?

Because of the shard cost. Places like amethyst or rune you have a chance for the boost to apply every time it rolls to see if you successfully mined the rock and will only remove charges when you actually get the ore. At iron you will be on a 1 charge:1 rock ratio. If you're doing 200m agility at prif or for some other reason have a lot of shards, it may be worth it at iron but if you don't plan on getting a lot of shards it's not.

@@N0thinglasts1 so you're saying that the 1-tic reduction in mining cycle time can be applied to the mining cycle (and will be applied 3% more often with crystal pick) at every attempt to mine a rock, but a charges are only depleted upon a successful attempt? so in theory it speeds up mining amethyst at the same rate as mining iron, because it can reduce the speed of unsuccessful attempts as well, but just costs fewer charges? cheers for the info!

So getting 99 is like 125 hours. That's 13 million EXP. How the hell do some people have 200 million? There's like 5 now with 200 mill in everything. My highest skill is 70 and I can't wrap my head around this shit lol
