Over and over and over and over every time he stands up he has a yummy treat and tosses it to him. Even better if it's a super high value treat pieces of beef jerky, pieces of chicken or turkey or cut up pieces of cheese. It's called conditioning the dog will start associating your boyfriend with only good things happening. It takes some time though but if you keep doing it it will work

Have your boyfriend give him really delicious small treats and to reinforce good behaviors. He should keep them in his pocket or a small pouch. He’ll love your BF. Look at KZread videos that use POSITIVE reinforcement NOT punishment. “Sitting with dogs” videos gives ideas on the voice and behaviors your BF can use with your dog. You can do it!
