Well said Steve..I tried salt back in 99 when I was young and had energy for days and I just had enough after about 1 year...I Cleaned the tank well and went right back to Afr cichlids.

Hi Steve, congrats on rolling with what is bringing you joy. I definitely appreciate being into the hobby in different ways and to different degrees at various points in life. (And I'm happier back with fresh water fish myself.) Am I right that you shut down your fish room in the basement? I was really impressed with the automated system(s) you built to manage your water changes, from drip emitters and then solenoids on the manifold with the upgraded drain line... I dream of some sort of a fish room with the right amount of automation at some future time, but I'm also leery of system failures and water damage. Were you happy with how it was operating? Did you preserve your plumbing and such in case you restart? I'm guessing at least some of that is allowing you to keep your 220 maintenance free. I'm in the midst of growing out discus so I'm always interested in making water changes easier! Thanks and nice looking pets--also biding my time until we bring home our next canine companion!

Thanks for the kind words. You’re correct, the water change automation I built for the fishroom is still there and runs on the 220. I haven’t had a single issue with it, knock on wood. It’s the smartest thing I’ve done in this hobby, even if it has spoiled me.
