I live near the Big Bear nest, while my sister lives near Redding. So, so sad that with six total eggs laid between the two nests, we have no new eagles being added to the world. RIP Sol and Luna, and the four eggs that never hatched. 💔

'G' Man... of course I have to point out that comical thumbnail vid pic of you with L&G keeping an eagle peeps on you in the window... I always thought you sounded like Burl Ives a bit..do you strum the g-tar too? West Coast high heat and not enough shade or fishy for the pair is my bet.. L&G were eating what they fed to the eaglets and they're okay so I nix food poisoning.. always a pleasure my man .. stay frosty 😎🦅🇺🇸

Thank you for the update and videos. If they find out it was lead or poison people will be really angry. I hope if either of those turn out to be the cause, it would be very helpful to provide information on what we can do to channel that energy into a positive outcome going forward for our wildlife. Definitely a nation wide ban. E14 from the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam died a very painful death some years back, (don't quote me on the exacts), died of rodenticide poisoning. Luckily for us Harriet and M15 had a second clutch, but still we need to do something about these poison's, they are killing too many of our beloved raptors.

I have so many wonderful memories of watching the triplets grow up and fledge two years ago. No babies last year. This horrible outcome this year. So heartbreaking to see although I know these things happen. Hopefully, natural causes will be the outcome.

Hi Elaine. Your comment really hits home as I have a love for these eagles and a desire to share them with everyone. My deepest thanks for your kind words. I hope that my feature will provide some insightful information to this eagle community, and those across the continent.

As we all know, we didn’t get to see Luna fledge because the camera was down - so we don’t know if she was injured. (internally?). The necropsy results will give us some answers. In the meantime, Gary, thank you for your KZread videos they help a lot. ❤ 🦅🦅💕🤍💜

May I suggest for future nesting seasons: I know one (osprey) nest where everything like food and wingersizing, ... is put in an Activity Log. Thank you, Gary. Let's be patient and hope for a (good) feedback.

I would like to know more about the service of the cam which as I understood wasnt working. A particular part was required to get back online, as was human tech support at or near the nest. Those folks. And a timeline of what I recall was a honest obvious request for donations to complete this tech work. This was mere weeks previous to a hopeful fledge. Then? The cam was functional. And we know the rest. But more information about this timeline would be interesting. I am deeply sorry. Not all nests are in ideal locations, and I always worry a bit when I see civilization and humans near to nature. We all do... hang in there. Cannot be easy managing the sorrow, loss and questions we all have 24/7.

Hi Gina. Yes, we all have questions. The technical project manager's assessment of the cam situation was performed remotely from hundreds of miles away. Even if he were in town, he couldn't have replaced the (suspected) part while the eagles were in the territory since it is near the nest. Terri was as shocked as everyone else when the cam came back online by itself, as was I. The FORE team made the stream publicly available again with a warning that they did not know why it came back up, and when it might go down again. The cam here has had issues with heat in the past, and that was FORE's best guess here again. They really do all they can and are working toward overhauling the system this summer when the eagles are out of the territory. Thank your for your question and input.

I really appreciate your updates, Gary. Praying that answers come sooner rather than later!

I wish FORE had more help at this nest to assist with documenting food that brought to the nest, by whom and when the parents come and go from the nest. Something similar to FOBBV. FOBBV has so many volunteers and that’s the only way this could be done. I’d be willing to take a few shifts next season to help with the documentation and I’m sure others could help also. I think it would really come in handy in times like this. Thank you for the update Gary, such a traffic season for Liberty and Guardian 💔💔💔

@Baldylover That's excellent input. We've seen and heard of nest logs, but (as for me), did not know how much it might be needed. You're right, we lack info right now that would have been very helpful. Our cam ops are part timers and do not have schedules or shifts. Again, that was a choice that works against us now. We do have KZread DVR for 12 hours on the stream, so perhaps that's a way to log events without having to be there full time. Thank you for your wonderful input.
