I would like to see some videos on what it's like to work and live on Catalina, a little below the surface. Finding a place to stay, what the long term islanders think about things, life on the rock.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll keep that to heart as I learn what it's like living on the island and making videos. Housing is huge challenge on Catalina since they are so limited. I was very lucky to find a studio apartment, but it was literally the ONLY option available for rent and I jumped on it that day to make it happen. So, if you're interested in moving to the island, be prepared to have a check in hand for rent and deposit. I can't comment on what the long-term islanders think about things yet, but hopefully can have them on the channel to tell some stories and perspectives. Thanks for the request. I would pay you to be a tour guide for a nature hike at the Wrigley botanical gardens. You can be an excursion option four tourists. See if your new boss will let you work in turn for donations to the conservancy. I took Botany at CSUF and really enjoyed it and I love the way your channel brings it all back to life.

Well, I'm certainly open to the idea but would love to show you all around. It's opposed to my nature to ask for money. That's one reason I haven't started a patreon, but with this transition to the island I may have to start making that an option. I'm trying to think of some meaningful award levels for patreons, maybe a botanical tour would be one of them. I LOVE the idea of addition an option to donate to the conservancy or maybe other conservation efforts to do some good, so thank you for that! Fair Winds, Ben!

I had somehow missed your last upload. I am sorry to hear about Jack. But, you are so right in saying they are worth the heartache for all the years of joy and friendship they give.Congrats on your new job! They picked the right person in my opinion. I grew there 5yrs to 13yrs we spent summers there sailing and mooring around the leeward side, and moved there permanently in 1990 and went to High school in Avalon go Lancers!! Enjoy the Island man, make sure you hike down Silver Canyon!

I learned a lot about small town politics. And a small town sheriff department . I never have to serve on jury duty again if I mention something ... that was a plus from living there . Just getting close to Halloween.

Check out Windward Sailing Club in Newport Harbor. They might have a need for another boat in their fleet. You would still own the boat, but they would charter your boat out and keep the boat at one of their moorings. I don't know the financial and maintenance specifics; I just charter them to sail! There may be one or two other similar sailing clubs in Newport Harbor.

Congratulations! I wouldn't be perfect, but perhaps the Wrigley/USC facility in Big Fisherman's Cove at the Isthmus might let you have a mooring, at least for a while. They are a science facility (as you likely know), and have mooring in Big Fisherman's Cove which they control. Russ SV Coyote, Long Beach
