In this captivating video, we witness the transformation of old shipwrecked timber into a stunning wooden console. The video showcases the art of upcycling, breathing new life into discarded materials and creating something both functional and visually appealing.
The craftsman starts by carefully selecting pieces of shipwrecked timber that have been washed ashore. He highlights the wood's unique weathered texture and character, emphasizing its potential to become an exquisite piece of furniture.
Next, we see the craftsman meticulously cleaning the timber. This step is crucial in preparing the wood for further processing. Tools like sandpaper and brushes are employed to reveal the hidden beauty beneath the surface.
Once cleaned, the craftsman proceeds to measure and cut the timber to the desired dimensions for the console. With great precision, he shapes the wood, ensuring seamless joints and smooth edges, resulting in a harmonious design.
Throughout the video, the craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident. The craftsman expertly joins the different pieces of timber together, creating a sturdy structure. He employs traditional woodworking techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, enhancing both the durability and aesthetic appeal of the console.

You have created more than a side table but rather a work of art. Beautiful job!!! I used to be a member of Flushing Friends (Quaker) Meeting in Queens, NY. That old building on Northern Boulevard was built in the 1600s from the salvage of ships. I remember a woman telling me that the unique scent of the building was the scent of worship.. I didn't have the heart to tell her that it was probably a combination of the age of the wood coupled with the utter saturation of the wood by the oceans. The salt water would have cured that ancient wood.

It’s a work of art. Who cares if he is unsafe. Lots of artists drink to much and die young, or do drugs and overdose. Good job. I’d love to have it in my home.👍👍👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Working ancient wood, using ancient well kept machinery. You live in a world that reuses/repurposes what the sea and land provides. What most people don’t realize, island life doesn’t mean a never ending supply of wood products, modern tools, adhesives, training etc. you did a good job. Americans are jealous because they don’t have access to wood that has sat in the oceans for centuries.

when using a circular saw 4:38 to cut, always put the wider part of the base of the saw against your guide and not the opposite, the reason is you have more stability, an accurate cut and is safer.

I had a teacher at RISD in the early 1980s that told all his students that they should count every finger before using the table saw, then count again when they were finished, just to make sure they were all still there. I was aprehensive throughout this entire flick, and hope kids and beginners do not watch it, and 'learn' from it. Still, a year later a kid I knew (we were sculpture majors) lost half his thumb with a stupid move (from kickback, of course), and worst of all his thumb almost blinded him as it flew by his head bouncing off his eyesocket and landing 5 meters away on a woodchip pile. Now for the "sad" details... he was making a cross, a Christian cross to attach a Christ figure he sculpted from aged cheddar cheese he was going to entitle "Cheesus". I don't think he ever finished the piece.
