Still wanting to get one of these. Edit after watching video: Absolutely love the way you walk us through the ‘how to’ part of the video. No one else would have explained the part of what to do with a wobbly blade like you just did. Brilliant in your barebones approach to educating us. Very refreshing.

This review is timely. I'm new to woodworking and was looking into this type of tool a couple of weeks ago, but opted to skip it for now because I wasn't sure how or if I would use it. This video helped a great deal. I've really enjoyed your videos. Especially those wood burning how to videos. Thank you.

Such an awesome concept! I've been doing this with a dado stack and always measuring, measuring and measuring some more to get the cuts the same across all my pieces. This really takes a lot of the work out of it and looks like I can do quick slots without going through all the set-up time of changing to a dado stack on my saw stop for just a piece or two.

I didn’t know these even existed. I love the concept. I just moved from another town. I had a great workshop there. The new owners loved my shop and bought the house and my complete workshop. So now I have built an new shop at my new location. I am currently outfitting it with all new equipment and tools. The house on this property was built in 1973 and needs a lot of help. So I am doing a complete gut and remodel. These would be a great help when I start the cabinets and trim in the house. I enjoy your vids. Keep them coming. Very helpful!

I purchased the Bridge City model years ago. It was pricy at the time but it has served me well over the years. I noticed that there are many "home made" versions of it that I'm sure work but the fit, feel and quality of the tool is what makes it satisfying to use. Thanks for the review.

Well explained, I’ve seen other demos and you made it much clearer as to how it works, and a few options for setting the kerf. I have a saw that doesn’t fit a dado and I’ve always struggled with getting tight fits. My method has been to take a scrap piece of the shelf and cut it thinner by the blade width, then place it to move the stop block and hope it’s tight.

I am late to the table as usual. Everytime I watch you work I learn something I did not know. I own both of these tools. I am not really strong. Both of them I use regularly for different work. However… I always seem to migrate to Bridge City Tools. They just feel better in my hands and I have BIG problems with my hands. You cant go wrong with either tool. I use my BCT without a doubt more often across the board. They just work extremely well. Bridge City Tools are without a doubt a forever tools. Once you understand your tool they are awsome. Thank You. This is the best video ever on how to use these tools. I laughed at what I did not know…..

I do not have either of these, but have been looking at the Bridge City one as well as the plastic variant made by MicroJig (not a fair comparison). Over the years, I have been adding Bridge City Tools to my arsenal. To me, they are at least one step above in design, fit and finish of any tool they offer. When I was younger, I always went with the not quite top of the line. Now, I tend to go for the top shelf offering. You never have to justify settling for the very best. You can see the pride in everything Bridge City makes just by looking at the thought and engineering they put into the box the tool come in. Fantastic! >>>>>>>>>> THIS HAS BEEN AN UNPAID ENDORSEMENT. I DO NOT WORK FOR BRIDGE CITY OF ANY TOOL COMPANY. JUST A FANatic

Hello Jodie. As mentioned in previous comments I own some Woodpecker/BCT/Bangood tools-measuring devices. However like you also stated on several occasions I do not have one in the same tool from two different providers so I have never been able to do my own direct comparisons. I have the Bangood kerfmaker such as the one you demo’d in this video. The fit and finish and performance to my eyes is equal to that of BCT. I have owned and used it for about one year now and so far the knurled lockdown knobs are working just fine. No slop or stripping of threads etc. it works flawlessly and am very happy with jt. I also have tenon maker and they work excellent paired together. Another great video for the community Harleymike/Chicago

Not having to measure every dado is awesome and being able to adjust for different materials in seconds is a plus. I’m setting up my woodshop and I’m going to be making the majority of my shop furniture carcasses out of half inch plywood. This would make it so easy to make all of those dados in the cabinet sides.

These look useful and nice. For those on a budget, the wood blocks you used in your third calibration method will work just as well but slightly less conveniently. Put stock thickness and two short blocks between work and stop block for one cut, and long block between work and stop block for the other.

I bought one and I love it. Another great use is for t track dados. Best fit that I've ever had for t track......period. No "touching up" the dado after cutting it at all the 2 inch cutting width sucks a little. I have the hongdui version. It fell off of the tablesaw due to vibration and now there is a ton of play in it. If you pay attention and make sure that it's locked down straight, still works, but something to keep in mind on fit and finish.

I bought mine off of Amazon, sorry I haven’t used it yet hence why I found your video but soon I’m build the frame to my bathroom vanity and wanted to go half laps and bridle joints and remembered I bought the kerf maker that looks identical to the grey and red one you have. Thanks for the demo, excited to use it Update: it sucks! Either there’s a learning curve with this or it isn’t designed well. The direction the wheels are tightened down in can totally screw up locking down the kerf and it’s been unreliable so far. It’s hard to explain but anyone who has it I’m sure will face the issue I’m facing. I’ll be making my own jig at this point!

I have never heard of a Kerfmaker, but am definitely now interested in picking one up because it looks to be a much easier way to get an exact dado fit. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the demo. I'm familiar with Bridge City's. I've also made my own. Nice to have one. Setup is fast and accurate. Cheers!

That is a great tool. As a beginner wood worker, that would be very helpful. It’s been officially added to my wish list.

I am just getting into the woodworking thing after 36 years in the oil industry. Retiring at age 70, I will be needing more tools. Thanks for the informative vids.
