How brilliant. Long promised and put on hold so many times... At last it is happening 😊

I was working on the viaduct throughout the nights across the bank holiday. A lot of hard effort by all that will definitely bring a lot of benefits for the north!

I admire the efforts of the workers and the speed with which they've cracked on with the project. It must be pretty bleak up on that viaduct in the middle of the night.

Nice to see some work being done. The North's infrastructure has been neglected for far too long.

Great video. As my travel plans through Huddersfield station will be disrupted by this next week, it's good to see the actual scale of the project which is much bigger than I thought it would be. All geared up for the rail replacement buses anyway. Thanks.

Hopefully it's short term pain for long term gain. I think there are some even longer closures on the way next year. It's amazing to finally see some long overdue investment in this fantastic route. Connecting Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester with a quick and reliable service could be a big boost for business and leisure.

4 tracks again, you never know they might make the Bradley curve double again to Brighouse, and if their going to remodel Deighton put it where Bradley Station used to be.

@@nickbannister775 Bradley curve will remain single under all foreseeable plans, and Deighton will be rebuilt in about the same place it is now

Interesting, but it would be better if you helped us understand what was happening. Adding speech to your videos would be a great step up! 👍🏻

Shame they can't find a use for the old warehouse o think Kirklees were going to make it into some sort of office cultural centre and art space but nothing happened 🤔 Would make a great space for an art gallery and exhibition space with the wagon lift in the background 🤔 If that comes to fruition then I'll be expecting the usual Kirklees Council consultation fees 💰 😂

It's a stunning building and a real shame to see it abandoned and disused. Sadly, empty buildings are a bit of a theme in Huddersfield these days. WH Smith is closing its shop in the precinct and so many other units are empty. Perhaps the faster rail links to Manchester and Leeds will give the town more appeal, but I'm not holding my breath.

I would not have a clue where to start with such a project with so many things having to be done at once. I am confused why they are taking out the metal bridge, it's not like they are widening it at that point since the rest of the viaduct looks to be staying as it, anyone know why the metal section is being replaced?

Replaced for poor condition I believe

If they are putting 4 tracks down now, will they have to reinforce the existing arches in the viaduct?

It was built for 4 tracks originally, so it should only require some structural repair

There were actually 5 tracks up until the late sixties: Up and down slow, Up and down Fast and a goods line which ran to Hillhouse sheds, next to the Down Slow, on the North side of the viaduct.

No idea where this is.

Looks like Bradford Road in Huddersfield to me looking north on the outbound leg.
