So amazing to see the mountains, snow and contrasting sandy soil and desert plants side by side. I'm from New Zealand and we have some pretty extreme country but that is such a contrast!

Please, Mr. Puckett needs to take glucosamine, he will feel the difference in 6 months but after one year he will really rebuild cartilage and help his knees a lot. I wish I new about it when my dad was still alive. He was a horse trainer as well.

I'm always looking for ways to improve my own program. Thank you for sharing your talents. Why is one horse more comfortable in a specific bit vs another? l gather that part of it is confirmation...another part would be the horses level of training, and still another where the rider is in their own ability level or understanding...of the different "mouth pieces" (which alot of them are controversial) that are available, and so much more... l like hearing about what you all use along with how and why the horse responds to those bits as well. Please keep doing what you do so well!

I did some research on the ring bit and what I found out was that I’d never seen one either and I have never heard of them. It doesn’t look like a very nice piece of kit. It’s used in the flat racing world and it is a circle of steel that goes around the bottom jaw and is sometimes is accompanied by a snaffle. The oddest looking combo. I have seen pictures of the native people using a leather thong looped around the bottom jaw of the horse but never have I seen a steel wire used this way. Interesting. My first thought is that it looks awful but I have learned to be open minded and not to judge too harshly until I know more about whatever I’m looking at.

That’s not the same ring bit. The one used in racing is to keep the horse’s tongue down. Look up Mexican Ring Bit.

This is a very mild bit if you understand how a bit works inside a horse's mouth and if you have done your homework with your horse. We don't use a hackamore on horses this age that have already been taught to run through a bridle.

Hope this is an easy one. How is a cricket made so it's not just a roller? Thanks, Denver.
