A rare Chicago flick. Reelblack coming through with another gem. Salli Richardson's first film role and she _still_ looks like a dime. This movie screams 1990. A young R. Kelly with Public Announcement before he appeared on _Big Break_ and won the $100,000 cash prize. And Jordan was getting ready to soar to even greater heights with the Bulls. R. Kelly's story became quite a sad one: all that talent and records sold after that didn't mean a goddam thing. I love love love Ms. Marla Gibbs. The TV grandma/auntie in my head turning 90 on my dad's birthday. Long live Ms. Gibbs. #RIPRonONeal

Actually it's not Public Announcement that wasn't the group's name in 90, 91 that's back when they used to go by MGM before they got sued by the casino for the use of that name. If I remember correctly after they won that old television show Big Break hosted by Natalie Cole and after their first single I think it was "why you want to play me" went platinum or something that's when the MGM Grand filed their lawsuit against the record company and the group which force them to change their name to Public Announcement.

@@GangstaMojo You're Right and Wrong. MGM and Public Announcement are TWO different groups. The FIRST Album "Born Into The 90's" was recorded with MGM, NEVER Public Announcement. REMEMBER when Robert met Public Announcement in the Bathroom of some place, maybe a club, THAT FIRST album was already COMPLETED.
I love that they all were Chicago natives love this old movie and I’m only 30 from Detroit 😍🥰🔥✊🏾 #blacklives
Thank you Reel Black for bringing positivity to our community 🙏.

@7774 in my opinion marla gibbs and the actress who played ron's wife were extremely poor choices. there was no real chemistry between ron and either of them. he should have tried to get sheila frazier again. denise nicols, pam grier or even diana ross would have been good choices.
This is a Black dial timepiece. Rest in Peace Ron O'neal!
Oh wow, I’ve been looking for this movie for 26 years. Thank you for uploading it
Never heard of this film before .
This is now my favorite KZread channel.... I used to have the VHS tape of this film and I haven't seen this movie sense 1999 early 2000.

I'm very sorry you were from lame Evanston, not H-F ! 😎 this came out in 91 and was shot in 89-90. I was an extra in a few of the scenes.
This was a great film we dont see movies like this anymore I wish I could go back in the 90s. Love & respect was honoured. I still hold on on it. But I see its lost in 2021.
Been on your channel since the weekend. Ive been having a ball binging and feeling these old good vibes frm when I was a child/ teenager. Thanks again REEL

Girrrrrrllllllll!!!!!!!! Where did you find this???? I've been searching for this for YEARS!!! Only found 1 minute clips!!! I thought you did it with "What About Your Friends", but you did it with this ONE! A TRUE GEM YOU FOUND! 😲
Brings back memories. This was a good movie. I got the pleasure of watching this movie on movie night in youth program I was involved in when I was a kid.
Love me some Ron O’Neal
Wow, I remember watching this in the auditorium at my old grammar school❤❤❤ Young Sallie Richardson🔥❤
Thank you for bringing all these classic Black movies. These movies are amazing and are even better than most of the movies you see today. Can you get the movie "There are No Children Here". It's a movie based on a book by the same name. It was on TV in the 90's.
Reelblack thank you for the upload
I’m ashamed to say back in middle school me and my buddies couldn’t get past the theme song without cracking up.

Awe, this was a good movie. I can see Dr. Kunjufu's teachings and messages in the movie.

Such a powerful movie, I tell ya there's just not movies like this Classic right here! Big Stoney Jackson remember Big Foreman at Tate. You dated Val, his sister. Thats my dad Vince Foreman😎😁
Stoney in them Jeans!😁
This movie had a good cast. I'm sure if the roles were reveresed in real life, J.R. would've left Sean stretched out on the field. I use to have a crush on Stoney Jackson when I was a teenager ❤ Other than the ill-fitted music that played in the background, the movie was pretty good.
Thank you for sharing this!
mmmMMAaaaAN this was GoooOOOWD! Keep UM Comin ReelblacK...
👐🏽 Thank you for sharing this insightful movie based on realism. Personally remember being bused to an all white high school for 9 & 10th grade until losing first my Father, killed in VN and then my Mother 19 months later, her death still a mystery to date. My Sister and myself became orphans and per my Father's will all military had to have wills. My Mother's will was never found, though my GodMother continually stressed at the time that my Mother had a will, she even swore on her Mother's grave that there was one. We were relocated to Philadelphia to stay with two of my Father's sisters. Unfortunately my younger Sister and myself were separated and never lived together again as children. During my 9th &10th grade years there were race riots practically everyday during school hours. Practically all of them were between "Negro or Black" and "White or Caucasian" Male Students. Other titles were used instead of Negro an Español term, among them Black, Afro American, then Jesse Jackson introduced the term African American that has lasted to the present time!😳
A rare gem👍🏿👊🏿
Throwback 4real
OMG! I loved this movie. Dope soundtrack and great movie
Thank you for this movie.

This was homage to Super-fly i see many parallels.
They don't make movies like this anymore, it has a message and a conscious rap song in the beginning... Where's our Black positivity?
Catero Colbert was born on May 17, 1975. He is best known for the role of Lead Teen in Fat Albert.
