We have to be careful of establishing our own rules based on our emotions. Allah s.w.t is the Most Merciful and the Most Just and can be so at the same time and in a perfect manner without taking away from either of those attributes of perfection. Most people tend to exaggerate in mercy. We know form Surah AL Fatiha that we ask Allah to guide us to a path which neither excessive in harshness BUT ALSO in mercy.

Ishallah

There is a spiritual degree of Islam, and Iman and then there is Ihsan and then Irfan. The level of ihsan is about excellence of character. Whereas in the previous level of iman, the focus was on purifying the heart of all of its vices, the level of ihsan is about filling the emptiness of a clean heart with virtues. The essential virtues are: sincerity, courage, gratitude and ambition. Shukr is achieved through istighfar 500 x every day. Ikhlas is induced by reading 1000 x kalima once a week (on Mondays) (which would result is various contexts and tests being presented to the person by Allah s.w.t.). Himma is achieved by reciting 1000x salawat every day. Tawakkul is achieved by reciting the 99 names of Allah s.w.t every day followed by the name of Allah 100 x. In that order. This is mostly done through a shaykh of a tariqa, however most of the tariqas today are corrupted. May Allah s.w.t. provide people with the right means. Amin.

IN the spiritual degree of Irfan, tahajjud becomes its established practice. 2 rakat, then 4, then 8, and then up to a hundred units of prayer every night. Then the recitation of Qur'an in increased in every unit, until it includes teh recitation of the entire Qur'an in a single night. This obviously requires marathon like preparation and long term training.Most importantly, the prerequisite for each level is the fulfilment of the requirements of the level below. The level of Irfan is perhaps best described as spiritual transcendence (gnosis), the soul achieving ability to travel beyond the universe to reach proximity to Allah s.w.t. One's own mi'raj.

An alim has a dhikr requirement of having to read 10 pages of Qur’an every day. To pray 2 rak'at tahajjud, (which can minimally be included in the two sunnah prayer of Isha) but is best prayed in the lats third of the night followed by witr, and to recite 100 salawat every day. The form of the salawat is important. This is the salwat of establishing wasilah, a living connection with the people of prophetic lineage and then the Prophet himself s.a.w.s. There is no knowledge except with Allah, His prophet and His book and the people of prophetic household. We know this through the Hadith.

If the order is not followed by its established manner in sunnah, the person will experience various physical, even psychological and emotional states in exaggeration that can be temporarily harmful to their disposition. The journeying of the soul is like climbing Mt Everest. Hikers ascending this mountain are obliged to take rest at various climbing points in order to acclimatise their bodies to rapidly changing atmospheric pressure of increased height above sea level. If this gradual increase is ignored, bodies will experience various health hazards, including effects as severe as cardiac arrest. Similarly, overzealous and sudden spiritual practice can cause various extremist religiosity and self delusions that can be entirely detrimental to one's intent towards beneficial self development.

The requirements of Islam are known.They must be fulfilled, and established as regular routines before any embarking upon purification of the heart. Save for hajj which should be conducted as an Umrah at the level of Islam, and completed as a Hajj, or a seal upon a purified heart. The requirement of Iman is purity of heart. Absence of diseases of the heart, the main are: the manipulative ego: greed, the narcissistic ego: desire, the controlling ego: anger, and the sadistic ego: envy. At this level, the diagnosis is highly individual and treatment highly specialised. There are degrees of harm. For example, in the sadistic ego, the mildest virus is that of procrastination. If untreated, it becomes laziness. If untreated, it becomes jealousy. If untreated, it becomes envy. Which leads people to sihir and alignment to the satanic order that is absent of light. Treatment of this particular ego in its early stages is through recitation of litanies (wird) in the morning and in the evening. I will stop here, lest it becomes an entire thesis. Hijab should NOT be worn by people who have NOT achieved the completion of their Iman. Hijab is a symbol of a spiritual status, a crown of iman.
