It's funny, it's silly, it's stupid...but, as a musician myself, these guys have actual talent. They're actually adept at playing their instruments and singing / harmonizing with one another. I honestly wish that I could play & sing as well as they do.

Okay, let me rephrase that: Chris Guest has been a professional musician-comedian since the EARLY 70s, when he performed with Second City as seen in such music videos as "Highway Toes" and "Positively Wall Street", both of which songs he wrote and performed in front of a paying live audience. Michael McKean who had known and played with Guest since 1967 invited him to play on his Lenny & Squiggy record which was released in the LATE 70s. Happy now? Smooches.

For the record, these guys have been professional musicians and entertainers since the mid 1970 at least. Their 1984 movie Spinal Tap is an uncontested classic. Chris Guest, on the right, is the director of "Best in Show" and "Waiting for Guffman", among other mockumentaries. So there's no need to "keep it in the garage".

Very much like a Tenacious D show, actually. Kudos to the Tap boys for skillfully rearranging much of the music. It's good to hear different takes on "standards" in a set. On another note, I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Have these people ever seen an acoustic show?

I got a chance to see Spinal Tap around 1992 and it was really a fun show to see. They had to play down their musical abilities to really be the Tap. Got to see Big Bottoms with three basses of course and Nigel play his guitar solo with a violin. Overall a great night, still have the ticket stub to show for it.

Loved the Seattle show. There were two bad speakers on the stage that were turned off (they were unnecessary anyway) and the sound was fine after that. They were great but also quite spontaneous, working out a couple of bugs (unless the bugs were planned, I don't think so) as we watched. I was on a high the whole show, fantastic!

They were musicians long before they were actors...Also, lets see, they wrote, performed, and produced all the music from their movies -that's a lot more than what most 'musicians' these days do. Their music has been praised by the likes of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Robbie Roberston, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, etc.

@nwajoe He doesn't hate anyone, he just keeps his on and off stage persona seperate. From an interview he did a few years ago: On film, Guest is a hilariously droll comedian. In person he is serious and almost dour. "People want me to be funny all the time. They think I'm being funny no matter what I say or do and that's not the case. "I rarely joke unless I'm in front of a camera. It's not what I am in real life. It's what I do for a living."

I think the greatest irony here is that Clear Channel owns ALL of the House of Blues venues and yet we have the antithesis to mainstream rock n' roll represented in Spinal Tap(circa 1980's). If these guy's weren't great comedians I'd be disenfranchised.

To be perfectly honest, Spinal Tap was created as a joke and you can't go into something like this and do something serious such as this. Spinal Tap has been famous for the live gimmick of the costumes, awesomely funny music and on stage antics. And without it, frankly. They are nothing. But on the other hand, kudos for continueing on guys. Bring on the album! Bring back the costumes and Tap back into the UK!
