@@cacyk4103 that's how I interpreted it as well. I actually find Bonnie really intriguing as a character. Like the last time she had a genuine friend they betrayed her and then died so now she manipulates her way to a level of control with her friends. Not good but definitely interesting. Or how after she is resurrected she takes drastic measures to let her legacy live on in case she dies again. She does do bad things, but I believe it's more complicated than her just being simply evil like a lot of people feel.

Very interesting how Shoko is technically a 'bad' person despite being a reincarnation of the catalyst comet that embodies 'good'. She truly was in horrible circumstances for her being a living embodiment of good to be a bad person. Once she got the chance to be good she truly became who she was meant to be. She only took the amulet because she wanted to live and when she finally secured a way to get the amulet and return it to PB she went out of her way to do so. Talk about a character that shows how someone who is good can be corrupted to do something bad.

Her design as a ghost hallucination (whatever she is when Finn sees her) freaked me out as a kid, not as much as the Lich but it did freak me out a bit, one thing I noticed about her normal design when she’s alive, is that the arm P.B gives her is the same metal arm that farmworld Finn has, which is pretty interesting

Shoko represents the argument of nature vs nurture. Despite being the physical embodiment of good, she still does things that can be considered evil like theft and manipulation. However, she draws a line at hurting people and often finds herself helping those in need for no personal gain. She is the case study of the personality being a combination of born instincts and learned logic.
Her body was just below the floorboards. There is no way whoever built the treehouse didn't know she was there. Someone built a treehouse over a skeleton.

Shoko is the embodiment of good corrupted by evil. She was definitely a tragic tale of what she could've become but didn't. In the end she's became the one thing that she didn't want to become. But through Finn she was able to reconcile. Now, she's free. Also particularly haunting is her skeleton remains still sits under the tree and not being moved after renovation. What a bittersweet ending.
I'm literally imagining Shoko's parents cutting off her arm, most definitely without painkillers, and then thinking of the selfish reason why they did that to their daughter. I get that times are tough during a post apocalyptic event, but I can't think of anything that could justify that.

I like the fact that the incarnations are their independent people despite having the same soul. I don't think Shoko really counted as a ghost, just that her memories had been repressed so she was only able to manifest in Finn's mind as ghostly images. Also, the intro deafened me.
Great Video! I’ve never personally considered the possibility of Shoko being a ghost. I always thought that Shoko was just apart of Finns mind being a previous incarnation of him. Kind of like how some people claim to have memories from past lives.
@TrueLocalEnthusiast

This is what I assumed but based on what we see it's as if every past life is still semi sentient in his subconscious which is really cool 😅
@ceramicfiber1720

@truelocalweirdo Maybe its just like the Avatars. Kora and Aang are vastly different people but still the same soul and they have a spiritual connection to all previous Avatars
my theory is that the fact that Shoko checked all the criteria of ghosts her incarnation was leaking through finn's vault, the catalist comets have atemporal knowledge but finn chooses to vault all but his current life so in a way finn aways knew about Princess Bubblegum's amulet, the difference with Shoko was that she had unfinished business that simple couldn't be vaulted

I believe in later episodes it is suggested that Fins original self chose to make sure each life would be new, so it can be experienced . Like they didn’t want to make judgements base on past lives. The Lich made sure to keep its memories through each life
I personally like to think Finn loved PB from the get-go partly because of his past life as Shoko. He was subconsciously still very greatful for her kindness, and wanted to make it right by being loyal to her this time. Since Pen is a spiritual guy, looking at it from a lens of karma would make sense, as Finn's undying loyalty for her in itself could be both a form of atonement, and a continuation of Shoko's story through his own.
Shoko's death was quite tragic. I honestly believe PB would have shown her mercy and tried to protect her if she revealed the truth. I also wonder if shoko being reincarnated as finn was part of the reason why he was so close to her.
Shokos story is so tragic. She didnt even get to make things right till hundreds of years later and mot even by her own hands but through finn. I always wonder tho what happend to the tiger after she died. How long did it last before it died and was reincarnated as jake
@TrueLocalEnthusiast
Жыл бұрын
Probably just a few years 😢
It's possible that the soul of Finn and Shoko felt guilty of stealing from PB, like you said in the video, had Shoko's body and death embeaded in the memory of the soul as to redeem their actions and that it was possibly a tramatic event for the soul in general, leaving Shoko's death embeaded. Kinda like PTSD but for a reencarnated soul.
Can’t Finn memorize his past lives? This probably isn’t any form of haunting but literally just shoko’s part of the cycle having such strong emotions that Finn has a very difficult time vaulting her away.

I just thought that Finn in the special episode “food chain” turns to caterpillar, and we know that one of his past lives was butterfly (aka grown up caterpillar)… probably it’s just coincidence, but this would be cool as an easter egg

So, in occultism, a lot of "ghosts" are really just etheric shells of a past life, fueled by strong emotions or ties. The "etheric shell" is like a middle vessel between the spirit and actual body.

Huh that's a cool detail. Wish I knew that 😅
Honestly till this day I think the vault episode was the scariest of adventure time for me seeing shoko like that when you didn’t know who she was or anything gave me nightmares
Y'know, this would also explain why Finn seems to have an undying loyalty to PB. Like yeah, part of that is hormones, but it'd make sense if the remnants of Skoko's self was trying to make it up to Bubblegum by pledging loyalty through Finn. Since there are times when he's still loyal to her, but not romantically interested in her.

Think about how crazy that would be from PB’s perspective. Like Finn calls her over in the middle of the night and leads her to the kitchen. Then throws the stove across the room and starts ripping out the floorboards. And then he finally comes out of the hole he’s dug in the floor, just to reveal he’s the reincarnation of shoko and then she sees shoko’s skeleton in the hole

Because shoko is Finn and finn is shoko i was hoping in together again when Finn passed he would remember all the experiences of his past lives. Because finn was his latest he'd still be dominantly finn but when he tried to be shoko it came across as a cheap disguise rather than The fact that was a totally realized person he once was
I had a similar conundrum with Zelda 2, because there are 2 Princess Zeldas but the goddess Hyrule always is reincarnated into the Hyrulian royal family. So only one of the Zelda is the reincarnation of Hyrule. However I'm assume anyone with the blood of the Hyrulian royal family, has the blood of the goddess, and its only the spirit of the hero that is reincarnated anew into each generation (barring time travel shenanigans).
