When you’re running the kicker only, how does the Optimus EPS steering work? What about with autopilot?

Yes to both of those. The nice thing with EPS is it only draws power when there is demand. So if the wheel isn't being touched, the amp draw is 0. When the wheel is turned slowly or small increments (common while trolling) it is also drawing very little power. It's an expensive system, but well worth it in our opinion. Autopilot utilizes the EPS, so it will function the same with both engines.

also- why 30” shaft over 25”?

For 2024 Kingfisher raised the height of the engine bracket. They've made it stronger as well, but the higher height also helps get the powerhead of the engine higher out of the water which reduces spray.

Is this boat light enough to tow with a modern gas 1/2 ton pickup, or is a heavy duty diesel truck ideal?

Im fairly certain the modern f250 or ram 2500 will have a towing capacity of around 10,000 lbs. (Correct if wrong) This boat has a dry weight of around 5,000 lbs.
